When adjusting the lid on a Dell Isnpiron 11, the screen goes black. It will come back if I move the screen enough. If the screen is stationary, it's no problem. This seems like a loose connection?

I tried hitting f8 to get into safe mode but again nothing.
I have an almost 2-year-old laptop with which I've been having problems for the last week or so. It all started when after hibernating the computer had a blank black screen not responding so I shut it off. After that it seems to boot up only once every 20 or so times. What happens after I press the power button: The laptop starts booting but doesn't get to the dell startup screen, after a while (after booting 3-4 times unsuccessfully) the fans even start spinning but the screen stays black and the hard drive light indicates that the drive isn't working.
LED Lights: The first light turns on, the second light turns on for a second or two (indicating hard drive starting to boot up) but then the light turns off and the computer is still running, but nothing happens. The third light is fine, there is no problem with the battery or the power supply.
I've tried reseating the hard drive, the RAM, removing one stick, then the other etc. and nothing works. The strangest thing is sometimes (very rarely) it does work, so far it booted up 4-5 times (if it gets to the DELL startup screen it's fine), but the rest 85 times it didn't .
computer turns on but wont go to windows, stuck on a Dell screen, press ctrl alt delete 2 option F2 or F12, almost as if windows is no longer installed, wifes computer, not sure if she picked up a virus, computer was working fine till the other day now nothing.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having issues with my Dell 5547 laptop. There is a roughly 1cm border all around the screen which wasn't there before and I noticed it now as my taskbar is adjusted 1cm up but when I put google chrome in full screen it sort of chops the top bar down a bit.
I noticed through google searches other people have had similar issues with Dell laptops however I can't seem to find a solution because every time I try to turn off the "maintain display scaling" it won't let me turn it off.
I have install windows 8.1 Enterprise in Dell n5110 its giving me black screen ,I tried open in safe mode , and uninstall display driver and again restart , i got the login screen after login screen appear for 5 miniutes after 5 min again it goes BLACK ,
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a 17 Inch Inspiron R Se that I purchased in January...it has started booting to a black screen...if I press the power button again to turn it off then back on it boots fine...it is very annoying seeing as it is almost new...I had the same issue a couple of weeks after getting it and did the computer renew thing which fixed it (until now) but I don't want to do that again as I have a ton of stuff on it now that I don't want to mess with and have to reload etc...
I tried the hard reset and it did absolutely nothing...ran the diagnostics and everything passed.
I have a dell M5030 that has a black screen on start up. The screen is on but just black - I don't even get the Bios screen. I've tried taking the battery out and hold the power button for 2 minutes. After that I tried holding D and the power button but there was to change. I tried an external monitor which did not work either. There are no beeps. It if I leave the laptop switched on for a few mins I hear the windows start up tune.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had a problem with my LCD for a while now. For around six months the screen sometimes turns black unless it is at a particular degree to the keyboard. For example, at 90 degrees there is a good chance that the screen will flicker and will mostly be black. More than 90 usually works.
Couple days ago I turned my laptop off and before it shut down left the room. When I came back after 15 minutes I heard the beeping sound. I turned the laptop off immediately. After that, every time I turn on laptop, nothing happens apart from beeping. I tried 'D' and then turn on. Also f12. Nothing changes, screen stays black. I also removed battery and pressed on turn on in order to get rid of excess charge.
Here's the issue:
On boot up, screen is black
Then 3 beeps follow
Then, I opened it up and it became 7 beeps
I bought this laptop really cheap from a friend and it was working fine until one day it gave me the black screen + 7 beeps.

It is three years old and out of warranty it is still in perfect condition otherwise as my 12 year old daughter has only used it for light use and it was working perfectly until the other day. Then it just wouldn't turn on and started beeping seven times. I have noted from this website and many others that there was a generic fault with the processor Inspiron M5030 so I was surprised that there has been no type of recall on the laptop.
My daughter is understandably upset as I cannot afford to buy a new laptop and when I bought the Dell I thought it was a good product and expected it to last considerably longer than it has. According to trading standards I am within my rights to go back to the manufacturer within in six years of purchase if the product should be expected to have a longer lifespan and is known to have a fault. However, I can't seem to send an email from this site.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a problem turning on my dell n5010 laptop with win7/ubuntu dual boot , I was doing some blogging using ubuntu and I went to have lunch and left it on but when I got back I found my laptop dead with the black screen and not turning on again with only the power led always on then the hdd led for a few seconds but not hearing any beeps and not seeing anything on the screen.
I have followed some solutions posted before but none of them worked.
1 - I tried to remove battery , ac and press power button to drain static electricity then trying to boot with ac adapter only but it didn't work.
2 - I tried the LCD test and tried an external monitor but neither works.
3 - I tried removing the memory modules , cleaning and reinserting but no change.
3 - I tried Dell Diagnositic but the only difference was that I heard 7 repetitive beeps when on the mode but not seeing anything on the screen .
I have had this laptop for about two years and when I went to switch it on this morning I got the black screen and seven beeps which seems to be a recuuring fault with DEL laptops. What can I do?

View 6 Replies View RelatedDell Inspiron 1520, When you turn the laptop on, the BIOS load screen comes up and when the progress bar starts to scroll, it gets about 1/2" over and then the screen goes black. It is not the inverter, because if you take a flashlight, you can not see anything. The Cap Locks and Num Lock button will toggle the LEDs, but there doesn't seem like anything else is going on. I have tried hitting F2 on boot, as well as FCN +D and no luck. It is running A04 for the BIOS. I have also reseated the RAM and the display cable connectors. I have also plugged in a keyboard and monitor to see if that would change anything and it didn't. (I did hit the FCN+F8 after plugging in the monitor.)
