View 3 Replies View RelatedDell Inspiron 1520, When you turn the laptop on, the BIOS load screen comes up and when the progress bar starts to scroll, it gets about 1/2" over and then the screen goes black. It is not the inverter, because if you take a flashlight, you can not see anything. The Cap Locks and Num Lock button will toggle the LEDs, but there doesn't seem like anything else is going on. I have tried hitting F2 on boot, as well as FCN +D and no luck. It is running A04 for the BIOS. I have also reseated the RAM and the display cable connectors. I have also plugged in a keyboard and monitor to see if that would change anything and it didn't. (I did hit the FCN+F8 after plugging in the monitor.)
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have downloaded the current BIOS for the N5110 to upgrade for a Windows 8 upgrade. However, this may sound rather trite but I cannot find any explicit instructions on how to perform the BIOS update. even pointing me to a process procedure that has been written to follow.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've dell Inspiron N5110 and I'm using it since past 3 and half years. In 2013, base of the laptop was broken and I had to replace it with a new one though there was no problem in hardware at all. Soon after the dell representative installed the new base and left my house I was facing a weird problem. When I power on the laptop, my screen gives a mild flash but does not start (6 out of 10 times, not always), but I can hear windows start up sound in the back ground. I use to press power button again to lock or stand by the laptop and then move my mouse. After performing this I can see the screen glows and log on screen shows up.
I was using my laptop like this for past 1.5 years as pressing a power button was no big deal. Today on the eve of new year, I saw my trick does not work any more. I was not able to start my screen even after repetitive attempts. But I remember I used it last night, display was really fine.
I am very upset that my expensive Dell laptop has stopped working when it's less than 2 years old. When I turn it on it beeps 8 times and does this over and over Nothing comes up on screen just black? A friend said I need a new board thing as video card is on that.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a dell inspiron n5110 laptop that was recently slammed to the floor because of some crazy incident. Anyways, the screen shattered so i replaced the screen and attached the cables properly. The laptop powers on, but no display on the screen what so ever, its completely black.
I did the take out the battery and power cord, held power down for 60 sec. that was a no go
I don't know what could be the problem. I even hooked the laptop via hdmi to my tv and it works fine on the tv so i know the laptop is working. Also my warranty expired so that won't do. would really like to resolve this issue without forking over a couple hundred bucks.
My puppy jumped on my lap when I was on the computer and the screen went from horizontal to vertical. A quick fix is changing the screen projector mode from 'not connected' to 'extended'. Unfortunately I cannot use dual screen and have lost my mouse more then once...

My computer shutoff and when I turned it back on, the screen stays black.
I have a relatively new Aspire E1-522. Was in the middle of watching Netflix when it conked out. Now, when I turn the power on very little happens...the blue light comes on, the fan comes on and the screen backlight comes on...and then goes out...and then comes on again...etc.
Basically, turning it on doesn't even get to the Acer logo. Cannot get into the BIOS by any means. In my research this sounds exactly like the Aspire One black screen of death, although I haven't found references to it with respect to the E1.
I think the BIOS is fried. How to re-flash it on the E1-522? I cannot boot windows, so I can't use the self-extracting EXE. I need to be able to flash it from the bare bones hardware like the fix for the AA1 ....
I don't know why my laptop goes into sleep mode but not in the hibernation mode? When ever I click on the hibernation button, the screen goes off for 10 seconds n then lights up again -

I was working on it and left it alone for an hour and when I came back the screen was grey and have not since been able to get it to shut down or start up.
Just now i've gotten two blue screen messages in quick succession. I ran diagnostics from the boot screen and the test shows the only error is with the Hard Drive. I was given this message

I bought inspiron N5110 laptop from about 8 months from middle east. From 5 months when I came to USA the laptop stop working. I tried to send it to dell as it was still in the warranty but they refused to take it because it had not an international warranty. I sent it to a technician in USA who told me that the motherboard is overheated. I got a motherboard that has the same part number and install it in the laptop.
The problem is that when I power it on some times the screen not display anything although it logs in windows as I hear the sound, and sometimes it log to windows and after about 15 min the screen stop working.
I do not know why it do this is this a problem in the new motherboard? or in the CPU?
I've just dropped my laptop (dell inspirion n5110) while it was on (about a feet) and now it's beeping. I also noticed that the bottom left of the screen disattached, but I was able to put it back in. I understand that 8 beeps mean LCD failure. I've tried to do the test run by pressing "D" but nothing shows up, only a white screen.
