My USB ports are black as well. I have an older printer and got message saying it should be plugged into a 2.0 port. So I tried the one on the right. My computer is windows 8.1 Inspiron 3521.

Previously today I experienced an other issue, that was, once I closed the lid and opened it back, it gave me a black screen with one bright spot. bt this was gone after pressing the power button a few times.

I removed the battery and hold power button for 1 min to remove static power but nothing happens. Tried with new dell 65w AC adaptor but no luck only getting power light on.
Is that my battery is dead? Laptop will not turn on by only AC adaptor ? Coz even only with AC adaptor only power light on without blinking nothing else

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had a Dell Inspiron 15 3521 since May 2013; it has been updated to Windows 8.1, 4GB RAM, etc. It's been a great laptop in all honesty.
However, in the last few weeks, I've had some issues with the laptop booting up. Originally, it would turn on, but then stick with a black screen (no other sounds of the computer starting up), and then beep 7 times. Per another forum post I read, that's indicative of a Processor Failure.
In this case, I'd remove AC Power, the battery, give it about 15-20 seconds, then reconnect the charger. The laptop would turn back on, no problems. I'd end up popping the battery back in a little later, and it'd charge with no issues. This has been my fix in the meantime for the last month or so.
Now, I can't get my laptop to even register that it's connected to AC Power. It'll just stay black, and then beep 7 times in a row repeatedly. I've tried using another AC Adapter, in the case my adapter died, and no such luck.
What are my options? My laptop is no longer under warranty, though I do have my service tag.
I have bought a new inspiron 15 3521 & after going through the community i think i have made a mistake of buying this particular model. Still trying to resolve my Bluetooth problem. I have installed dual booting Windows 7 & 8 also

View 1 Replies View RelatedFrom last 2 days, I have seen that my laptop 3521 Dell doesn't switch on at all. Second thing I have observed is that, when I have my charger connected to the plug point (not connected to the laptop), I see the green light on the charger as ON, but the moment I connect it to the laptop, the light from the charger turns OFF and ultimately, my laptop doesn't charge. I mean no power supplied.
The steps I have carried over so far are -
1) I have tried checking the laptop battery by taking it out and reputing it in the laptop and trying to see if it works, same problem.
2) I have tried checking if everything is okay with the charger, but still the same problem.
My dell inspiron 3521 keypad is not working i have updated all the software and system update is on.
i haven't installed any software, third party application or anything else like that which interferes with my keypad functioning.
I tried to update the drivers for the keyboard from device manager but it showed that the driver is already up to date.
I also checked the ribbon that connected to the keypad with the system hardware and there is no problem in the connection there also.
I was busy replacing my laptop screen on my inspiron (second time in 4 months!) and this time the screen doesn't turn on turn on when I start it. I can hear the OS running in the background and it make all the boot sounds.

Somewhere along the line of me trying to fix it, I messed with something I shouldn't have and when I finished with my task, I was told to restart the computer to activate the settings. After I turned it back on it seemed normal up to the point after I saw the dell logo. It went black. At first I made the assumption that since I changed settings that it was still trying to configure them. But soon after, I saw my mouse and a little signal flash in the bottom left of my screen. So I checked around and found out that I needed to reinstall windows with disc or USB. But I don't have access to either of those.

I waited for a while but it changes nothing the only way i can switch the power LED off is by removing the battery.... Holding the power button for a few seconds doesn't switch it off... Also when i plug the power adapter without battery, i can see the power adapter LED also lighting....No fan spins, no HDD light. Tried with Other new universal adapter and new battery. Not working.
Removed Battery and pressed power button for 30 seconds and tried removing static power if any.Nothing happens. Only power light is on No fan spins, no HDD light.

My Dell Inspiron 15-3521 is showing 2GB DDR3 1333MHz instead of 1600MHz. I checked my service code, Bill, Manuals in all these places its written that I should have A 2GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM but my BIOS is showing it as 1333MHz . I tried to check whether a bios update is availabe or not but no I have the Latest A04 BIOS.

Another friend of his tried to unlock the user password and somehow ended up screwing it up more, so now it boots asking for a BIOS password that no one has access too. He doesn't have the receipt for the computer, because his dead father was the owner but he does have the box. Its warranty is expired as well, but I was wondering if having the box was enough for Dell to generate a BIOS bypass or what other options are available.

I have a new Inspiron 15 3521. I tried to update to Windows 8.1 several times. It downloads to 50% and then says Installing for a few seconds and then Getting PC Ready for a few seconds then it starts downloading again. Steps taken so far
1. I ran Windows Update and the Intel Storage Controller 7 Series Controller needed to be updated. The update failed.
2. I went to Dell's Driver Support site and it detected the same driver needed to be updated. I ran the update and it installed successfully. I restarted the PC. I ran the Dell driver update again just to be sure and it said it needed to be update. I tried it 3 times and every time it said success but it never updated.
3. Downloaded driver from Dell and tried to install from Device Manager. It said the driver was up to date.
I googled this and it appears to be a common problem but no solution was stated. Surely others are having this issue.

I can't tell that pressing the power button has done anything at all until I see the screen come on.

I have bought a new dell Inspiron 3521 original Battery but it is not charging...when i placed the new battery the battery indicator flashing red light. When i connect the new Dell 90w Adaptor when laptop is Off the indicator turns white colour with blinking. I kept charger for more than 3 hours still the white light battery indicator with blinking.

I know I can single boot using F12, and choose to boot from a USB, but one day I may need to boot direct from a USB without having access to F12.
So I want to change the boot order to enable me to automatically boot from a USB first, if one is present.

If I reboot the Windows a few times it finds the adapter and connects to the wifi, however after 10-15 minutes Windows freezes and restarts. Is this a hardware or software problem? View 1 Replies View RelatedI own a Inspiron 3521, and about 6 months after I bought the system my Bluetooth stopped working, I search for devices, and the only device that shows up is my LGP-769 cell phone, and none of my Bluetooth headsets or other audio devices. However after pairing I cannot establish any kind of connection with the device. My Bluetooth icon still appears in the system tray but the settings will not open, even in the Device Manager the phone reads as a normal Bluetooth device. I've tried updating the drivers, but whenever I try to install a new driver it says that the OS is not compatible, even though it is for Windows 8 64-bit, and from the Dell website. I have searched every form and looked into every possible system setting, and no one seems to be having luck finding a solution to the issue, none of my previous Dell systems have done this.
