Dell Inspiron 15 3521 :: Windows 8.1 Update Failed On New PC

I have a new Inspiron 15 3521. I tried to update to Windows 8.1 several times. It downloads to 50% and then says Installing for a few seconds and then Getting PC Ready for a few seconds then it starts downloading again. Steps taken so far
1. I ran Windows Update and the Intel Storage Controller 7 Series Controller needed to be updated. The update failed.Â
2. I went to Dell's Driver Support site and it detected the same driver needed to be updated. I ran the update and it installed successfully. I restarted the PC. I ran the Dell driver update again just to be sure and it said it needed to be update. I tried it 3 times and every time it said success but it never updated.
3. Downloaded driver from Dell and tried to install from Device Manager. It said the driver was up to date.
I googled this and it appears to be a common problem but no solution was stated. Surely others are having this issue.

During updating BIOS with this i have error "BIOS update failed! Image verification failed. Error code -200" and laptop was frozen, keyboard and touchpad doesn't respond. After 30 min i remove AC and battery from my laptop and try to power on again, but dell not respond.Â
What can I do now?

1. cant trust windows for bios update
2. dont flash the bios unless told so by a qualified tech or acer
3. cant reflash/install orig bios via usb thumb drive
4. one option is to take back to acer and get slugged $$$ cos not covered
by warranty.
5. second option is to take bios chip out and have it reflashed.
6. third option is to buy a new bios chip.
7. fourth option i to buy a new motherboard
8. NEVER p!$$ off your gf/wife

From that very first day "the numLock key" would not come on, I called Dell and they told some things to try. I own a Inspiron 3521, and about 6 months after I bought the system my Bluetooth stopped working, I search for devices, and the only device that shows up is my LGP-769 cell phone, and none of my Bluetooth headsets or other audio devices. However after pairing I cannot establish any kind of connection with the device. My Bluetooth icon still appears in the system tray but the settings will not open, even in the Device Manager the phone reads as a normal Bluetooth device. I've tried updating the drivers, but whenever I try to install a new driver it says that the OS is not compatible, even though it is for Windows 8 64-bit, and from the Dell website. I have searched every form and looked into every possible system setting, and no one seems to be having luck finding a solution to the issue, none of my previous Dell systems have done this.

I Purchased this laptop, (Inspiron 3521) through ebay.in and after 3 months I found that it has no factory installed image in it (but mentioned during purchase). I still have warranty till march 2015. Can I be able to replace the faulty disc with new one win8 installed.

I am having a Dell Inspiron 3521 laptop which came with a Ubuntu installation. For obvious reasons I shifted to Windows 8.1 x64 pro but immediately my machine no longer detected networks. In fact, I can only see the option to use wired connection now (after installing some drivers from Dell) in the system tray network notification.

I have got a new Dell Inspiron 3521 i5 with 4GB RAM - 64 bit OS - Windows 7 - Service Pack 1 Laptop, everything works good except, the problem with my Wi-Fi Connectivity.
The issue I'm experiencing is with the Internet connectivity, my Wi-Fi connectivity loses frequently and I get message saying "Limited Access", and gives me an option to reconnect it manually which is a bit disappointing. .
Rest all works pretty fine, I'm satisfied about it. Just this error, disappoints me.
The troubleshooting I have tried so far is -
1) Resetting router for 30 seconds and restarting it - did not fix my problem.
2) Checking firewall settings - did not fix my problem either.
3) Tried virus check as well, but no fix so far.

I just bought this Dell Inspiron 15 3521 Model I15RV-1428BLK it says it's a touch screen laptop on the specifications but the touch screen doesn't seem to work at all not even once since I started running the laptop for the first time. The one I tested at the store worked fine.
Looked up for drivers with my service tag, but couldn't find nothing that fixed the problem.

We have a Dell Laptop N7010 on windows 7 (bought Oct 2010) that started freezing up and is now giving the "Windows failed to Start" message. We have tried the two options:
Launch Startup Repair (recommended) and Start Windows Normally. Have tried to select each but no luck. The Startup Repair takes awhile but nothing happens and we are right back to this screen. Then, in reading other logs with this problem the suggestion was to run a diagnostics check.So, chose F12 and ran the Preboot System Assessment Build 4124 and then the Boot Diagnostic Utility Partition
The following errors appear:
Error Code 0F00:65D
Msg: Disk - DST Self-test Read Error
& also get
Error Code 0F00:133C
Msg: Disk - No suitable disk media is present
(This one was related to SATA DVD + RW...)
I then tried to select F8 to set the system back to factory settings but do not get anywhere. It seems the only options are F2 or F12.

I've had my Dell Inspiron 1545 for a couple of years and it ran fine until recently I noticed that I couldn't update ANYTHING, Itunes, adobe, java, AVG... ect. so when I looked into what could have cause this problem I noticed a lot of  the windows updates had failed, so of course I reran the updates and turned my computer off when it directed me too and no luck they still failed I need this computer for school or at least long enough for me to buy a new one.

I turn on the laptop Inspiron 1545 and keep getting an error message that says, "WINDOWS BOOT MANAGER... Windows failed to start.... Then to gives me 3 steps but when I click F8 nothing happens!!! I insert the cd and it takes forever to do a diagnostic check.

The hard drive went bad on my Inspiron M5030. I had made system recovery DVDs (Win7) when I first got it, so I replaced the hard drive and restored the system from the DVDs to the new hard drive. All went great, and Win 7 worked perfectly until I shut the system down (restarts work fine). After a shutdown, and upon startup, I get this error:
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer.
Choose your language settings, and then click "Next."
Click "Repair your computer."
If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.
Status: 0xc000000e
Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.
I have tried going in the bios and the system sees the new hard drive. I also tried all the Dell diagnostics (F12), and all passed, including the hard drive.Â
There is no option to "Repair" once I boot from the Recovery DVDs, only to restore the system completely, which I've done twice now with the same results.Â
It seems that the lack of a recovery partition on the new hard drive might be to blame? I don't know. I'm out of options at this point.

i have a sony vaio vgn-ns290j laptop and i was told I needed to do a bios update..well i downloaded the bios driver from the sony website..started doing the update..and mid way through the laptop blue screened. Now when I go to turn it on it gets power but does not post..Is there a way I can reset it back to the default..?? why does sony offer a driver that bricks your motherboard?

When I run the update, from inside Win 7 x64, I get a "ERROR 242 - This is not a valid supported system!"

I have a two year old 5633WLMI (Nvidia graphics) Upgraded the RAM to 4gb only to find that 3gb was being shown in BIOS and Vista 32/64.
Downloaded the latest BIOS update from Acer, (v3.50) updated via Dos - Boot USB pen drive, haflway through updating it turned off, now DEAD, no power/lights/screen - tried silent/forced BIOS update but failed due to no power to board.
I contacted Acer, who were not that helpful to be honest, who told me to contact my local service centre (São Paulo, Brazil) again they were not to helpful. so I'm now sat here with an expensive paperweight.
Fairly sure the MBD has fried, so, How on earth do I get one to me to fit?
every site I've seen requires you to send the old to them but they won't ship to brazil or are incredibily expensive.

I attempted to update the BIOS in my Acer Aspire 5315 laptop to no avail, the winbios program froze straight away, while erasing the BIOS I think. So since then I havn't been able to start the laptop, no fans, but does blink a red LED beside the little light icon when left for longer than 10 seconds or so when you press the power button. I've tried the fn+esc method to boot it to flash the bios but nothing at all, tried it with USB and CD-ROM. I've tried removing all the hardware and starting it, I've also tried resetting the CMOS, still no luck.
I'm thinking that the red LED might be a little indicator of hope, or is it maybe the capacitor filling up

I updated my friends system to the f.20 bios - and it now comes up that the bios update did not succeed, and then it restarts.

This is an endless loop - which never lets me boot into windows - so I cannot go back to a previous version of the BIOS.

I have been reading around the forums and discovered a method to try an emergency recovery by getting the rompaq bios and holding down the Windows Key + B when I turn on the system.

Just bought an external USB Floppy drive to try this emergency recovery. I tried the USB - but it wouldn't work. I am getting different results here - but not what I want.

With the USB Floppy plugged in: When I hold down Win+B - the caps light flashes for a lot longer now, it looks like it initializes the floppy drive (green light comes on for just a moment) - but then nothing - just flashing caps lock for a bit and then finally a restart again into the doom loop. It never appears to begin to read the floppy disk or search for a bios file.

What am I doing wrong? What can I try? Does the disk need to be leabeled a certain way? Does my BIOS file need to be renamed?

Spent about half a day now on getting the Windows 8.1 Pro update for my new Inspion 15. However each time after installing the update from the store and rebooting, I am greeted with the message that the update could not be installed, error number 0xC1900101 - 0x20017. I have installed all Windows Updates and also updated all Intel and NVidia divers. Uninstalling everything preinstalled by Dell did not change the result either. What else could I try?Â

I tried to update my bios to A07 -> A11 (the lastest). But the update failed. Ok. I just close the updater. I open Google Chrome, surf on the Internet etc. After 10 min, I shut off my Dell computer normaly. Now when I turn my MiniPC on, it just doesn't do anything... My hard drive doesn't starts. I bought this laptop specifically to use for 3D development and made sure to get the nVidia GT650M to assist in this. I just got my nVidia Vision 2 kit and successfully upgraded the nVidia drivers from their site. However when I go into the monitor settings I am only given an option for 60Hz; there is no option to switch to 120Hz. I am unable to locate a driver update to assist in this. I used Dell's update for the GT650M but it's the same as what I installed from nVidia.
Where can I get a driver to update to 120Hz?

I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 running Windows 7 64 bit SP1. Recently I cloned my old original SATA hard drive for a larger Seagate (600Gb). All is fin apart from no windows update and an annoying request to activate. When i try to update I get a message that my service isn't running and I need to re-boot. It is running and a re-boot makes no difference. In System properties the laptop says it is activated but Windows thinks otherwise.Â
