I Purchased this laptop, (Inspiron 3521) through ebay.in and after 3 months I found that it has no factory installed image in it (but mentioned during purchase). I still have warranty till march 2015. Can I be able to replace the faulty disc with new one win8 installed.

I recently did a factory image restore on my Dell laptop because I couldn't seem to get rid of a virus on my computer. The factory image restore was completed successfully but now windows will not start up. Startup repair says

I performed regular diagnostics on the computer and all tests were passed. I also did a custom diagnostics test on the hard drive and all tests were passed, except for the last test it said "there is no flash drive in the card reader". Which I believe is probably normal?
My computer only came with two disks from the store. One titled 'Drivers and utilities-for reinstalling dell insipron laptop computer software', and the other titled 'Application- for reinstalling cyberlink powerDVD DX 8.3 software for windows 7'. I do not have a cd for windows 7.
Had an online chat session to get IE to work. By the end of the session all the unit would do is cycle in safe mode. Indicated I should reinstall factory image. I have done that twice without success. It begins to reload and still only gets into safe mode and the system cannot do the initial setup in safe mode. How do I get this thing to boot normally at this time?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron 17R Special Edition Laptop with Windows 8, bought on 12/16/2012. The Dell Backup and Recovery version 1.0.0.2 does not seem to work properly when using the "Recovery Media" option (“Create a copy of your factory image in case of critical hardware failure.”) for doing a "Factory Backup" with Discs.I am using new Maxell DVD+R discs.
After the first disc is written and validated it is ejected. A new blank disc is requested, placed in the drive, and then OK is clicked, and the new disc is in for a short while and then ejected without anything being written to it. Also, the DVD is still listed in the File Explorer as "DVD RW Drive (D:) Recovery" even though no DVD is in the drive and the drive tray is in (normally, when there is no DVD in the drive the DVD drive is no longer shown in the File Explorer).
If the backup is canceled and a blank disc is placed back in, then checking the properties of the disc shows 0 GB available and 0 GB Used - this error is corrected by Restarting the computer. After the Restart the disc is properly shown to have 3.9GB Available and 0GB Used.I tried again to do the backup and the same thing happened, with only the first disc actually being written and validated. That first disc is named “Recovery” and it does contain folders: Boot, EFI, preload, and Recovery. It has files: AUTORUN.INF, BOO.MGR, BOOTMGR, BOOTMGR.EFI, MASTERLOG, and Media.ico. Used space is 3.81 GB.
Since the Dell backup program for the factory image does not seem to recognize that a new blank disc is inserted after it was done with the first disc, I cannot make a backup of the factory image.
I got a new SSD 512GB and will swap it with origianl HDD . How to put the origianal factory default image into SSD..

In the D: drive, I find the Windows OS, in the C Drive I find nothing. All other drives are as they should be. The Factory Image is either deleted or corrupted. How can I get a copy of this ?
I have an Aspire V3-772G. I can't create a recovery drive anymore. I ran reagentc.exe in command-prompt and it's pointing to the correct recovery location, but Windows RE is disabled and for some reason I can't reenable it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a laptop in our lab that was full of a bunch of software that had been installed over the last year or so and I was trying to bring it back to how it was shipped from the factory. After booting with the F8 option then through Advanced Options I selected to restore the laptop to the factory image since there was no data that I needed from the unit. After the laptop restoration was finished I now boot to the BSOD and it perpetually asks for a startup repair which does not work. I made this unit a door stopper needless to say since there are no disks included in the purchase. Is there any way to get this laptop back to factory?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been given an Acer 6930G by a family member to setup. After realising there's 0 discs included with the laptop, the Acer pop up message tells me I have to make my own factory default image. I have successfully made it on 2 DVDs, my question is now in the manual there is nothing about how to use it, I was wondering if anyone can share any insight to me as to how it works.
Basically I know it is probably a bootable DVD as the root of the DVD suggests (several "BOOT" files) I was wondering how it actually looks like? I haven't tested it yet as the user was extremely desperate to get it running so I had to give it up the moment the DVDs were made.
If I put the DVD in and select to boot from it at start up (before getting into windows) does it take me to some sort of custom screen where I can SELECT that I want to reformat and restore the laptop? I want to know what options I am given and I can only assume that it's the same for most laptops.
And I can only assume again, that if I factory restore it, it will come back with Vista activated and all the initial bloatware again, along with all the drivers for it (so I don't need to go track them down).
This is all I need to know, I wish I can test it but I can't even get the laptop back now (until it breaks ...)
If someone can post their experiences with it I will be grateful, this is just more for reassurance than anything, and confirm my assumptions? Many thanks in advance!
EDIT: I have discovered that I can launch that recovery app by pushing ALT+F10, I have managed to wrangle the laptop temporarily to test and have discovered that I can choose from 2 back up options, but I dare not go any further, can someone tell me the next steps? One says factory default, and the other is user's backup.
I can guess that if I choose the first option, factory default, it'll ask for the DVDs I have created? And the 2nd option will restore a backup I made selecting the user option on the recovery app.
Recieved a New XPS 1340, powerd on went through the setup screens, got to where Windows indicated it was preparing my desktop, and the screen went blank waited about a half hour same blank screen. Called Dell Support, finally got through cell, phone service was real bad.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to restore my laptop (studio xps 16) to factory settings using the recovery image. If I look in my computer, i can see C and D drives.
D is my recovery partition with 7gb full out of 10gb. This is good and dandy except when i open the D drive, there is one folder that says RECOVERY that is empty. Why is it empty when there are 7gb's of files in there? I already have hidden files shown
trying to do a factory image restore on my Studio XPS 1640. I've done this before on other Dells but this one I don't see the Dell image restore option as said in the booklet.
I don't see the Dell Facotry TOols either. I just have the following: startup repair, system restore, system image recovery, windows memory diagnostic, and command prompt.
I chose system image recovery and it doesn't pull up anything - it's for my own images I made. No option to pull up my Dell factory image which I still have in it's own seperate partition.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a new Inspiron 15 3521. I tried to update to Windows 8.1 several times. It downloads to 50% and then says Installing for a few seconds and then Getting PC Ready for a few seconds then it starts downloading again. Steps taken so far
1. I ran Windows Update and the Intel Storage Controller 7 Series Controller needed to be updated. The update failed.
2. I went to Dell's Driver Support site and it detected the same driver needed to be updated. I ran the update and it installed successfully. I restarted the PC. I ran the Dell driver update again just to be sure and it said it needed to be update. I tried it 3 times and every time it said success but it never updated.
3. Downloaded driver from Dell and tried to install from Device Manager. It said the driver was up to date.
I googled this and it appears to be a common problem but no solution was stated. Surely others are having this issue.
My Dell ATG E6410 basically completely crashed. Nothing from the hard drive was salvageable (including any of the recovery files). I contacted dell support and they sent me 2 dell DVD's. They are labeled as "DELL SOFTWARE RESTORATION DVD".The only problem is, THEY WILL NOT BOOT! I have tried booting directly from the Bios and no luck what else.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI own a Inspiron 3521, and about 6 months after I bought the system my Bluetooth stopped working, I search for devices, and the only device that shows up is my LGP-769 cell phone, and none of my Bluetooth headsets or other audio devices. However after pairing I cannot establish any kind of connection with the device. My Bluetooth icon still appears in the system tray but the settings will not open, even in the Device Manager the phone reads as a normal Bluetooth device. I've tried updating the drivers, but whenever I try to install a new driver it says that the OS is not compatible, even though it is for Windows 8 64-bit, and from the Dell website. I have searched every form and looked into every possible system setting, and no one seems to be having luck finding a solution to the issue, none of my previous Dell systems have done this.

I have done some digging before posting, and I understood that I had to enter to the bios and change USB debug Mode to Enable in order to make it work as USB 2.0 (Disable USB 3.0 functionality to install Windows 7 from a USB Flash Drive).
thing is that I tried that several thing to recover the windows 7, deleted the usb flash drive and made several copies and in the end of it I always get to a screen which tells me that "if you are trying to restore your pc from usb 3.0 ................change to a different usb port " .

I am having a Dell Inspiron 3521 laptop which came with a Ubuntu installation. For obvious reasons I shifted to Windows 8.1 x64 pro but immediately my machine no longer detected networks. In fact, I can only see the option to use wired connection now (after installing some drivers from Dell) in the system tray network notification.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have got a new Dell Inspiron 3521 i5 with 4GB RAM - 64 bit OS - Windows 7 - Service Pack 1 Laptop, everything works good except, the problem with my Wi-Fi Connectivity.
The issue I'm experiencing is with the Internet connectivity, my Wi-Fi connectivity loses frequently and I get message saying "Limited Access", and gives me an option to reconnect it manually which is a bit disappointing. .
Rest all works pretty fine, I'm satisfied about it. Just this error, disappoints me.
The troubleshooting I have tried so far is -
1) Resetting router for 30 seconds and restarting it - did not fix my problem.
2) Checking firewall settings - did not fix my problem either.
3) Tried virus check as well, but no fix so far.
I just bought this Dell Inspiron 15 3521 Model I15RV-1428BLK it says it's a touch screen laptop on the specifications but the touch screen doesn't seem to work at all not even once since I started running the laptop for the first time. The one I tested at the store worked fine.
Looked up for drivers with my service tag, but couldn't find nothing that fixed the problem.
When I go into the Control Panel and try to make system image backup on external hard drive get message saying backup failure. Have tried several times. External backup works fine for other things. How to do this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm new to having Dell computers. Today I received a Dell Inspiron 15z 5233 laptop with windows 8 on it. It has a 32 GB SSD and 500 GB hard drive. I can not see the SSD drive in the windows file explorer, nor do I see it in the Disk Management utility from the Control Panel. However, I do see it in the Device Manager as an SSD and another Hard Drive in the Disk Drive section. The SSD driver is up to date. I have not installed any drivers on the computer except for the Serial ATA CY1HK_WN_12.8.0.1016_A03. That was only after I tried to install windows 7 and it said "No Drive Found" when I tried to select a drive to install on.
I googled what could be the problem and saw that it could be a driver issue with the SATA connection. So I got that driver (Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver) and the SK Hynix Solid State Drive Firmware update. These are the most current on Dells website. This is an older computer, says late 2012. It has an i5 Processor. The SSD is SSDPM830 mSATA in the device manager. Storage Controller: Intel Mobile Express Chipset RAID SATA controller. When I try to save a file, I do not see an SSD drive, there is only one drive, the C: drive which is the 500 GB disk drive. I hope I have supplied enough information to understand the problem.
So I put the drivers on a USB and tried to install windows 7 again, and it still shows No Drive Found, and when I tried to browse for the drivers, they do not appear on the USB. It will show all the folders on the USB, but I can not open the folder they are in. So I put them directly on the USB outside of any folders, and they still do not show up. Also, I changed it to Legacy mode, safe mode off for the boot settings.
I assumed I did not have to install any drivers on windows 8, because it detects everything automatically now days. Should I go ahead and install some drivers on windows 8?
