Dell Inspiron M5030 :: Windows Failed To Start Error
Jan 29, 2013
The hard drive went bad on my Inspiron M5030. I had made system recovery DVDs (Win7) when I first got it, so I replaced the hard drive and restored the system from the DVDs to the new hard drive. All went great, and Win 7 worked perfectly until I shut the system down (restarts work fine). After a shutdown, and upon startup, I get this error:
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer.
Choose your language settings, and then click "Next."
Click "Repair your computer."
If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.
Status: 0xc000000e
Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.
I have tried going in the bios and the system sees the new hard drive. I also tried all the Dell diagnostics (F12), and all passed, including the hard drive.
There is no option to "Repair" once I boot from the Recovery DVDs, only to restore the system completely, which I've done twice now with the same results.
It seems that the lack of a recovery partition on the new hard drive might be to blame? I don't know. I'm out of options at this point.
I'm currently using my laptop for 2 months and today when I shut down my Dell Inspiron 15 a while ago and open it again after an hour I continuously get this error
Your PC ran into Problem and it needs to restart. We're just collecting some error info, and then we'll restart for you. If you'd like to know more you can search online later for this error. 0xc000021a
After it automatically restart it says: RECOVERY .... Your PC couldn't start properly
After multiple tries, the operating system on your pc failed to start, so it needs to be repaired Error code: 0xc0000001
You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. If you don't have an installation media (like a disc or USB devices), contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer.
We have a Dell Laptop N7010 on windows 7 (bought Oct 2010) that started freezing up and is now giving the "Windows failed to Start" message. We have tried the two options:
Launch Startup Repair (recommended) and Start Windows Normally. Have tried to select each but no luck. The Startup Repair takes awhile but nothing happens and we are right back to this screen. Then, in reading other logs with this problem the suggestion was to run a diagnostics check. So, chose F12 and ran the Preboot System Assessment Build 4124 and then the Boot Diagnostic Utility Partition
The following errors appear:
Error Code 0F00:65D Msg: Disk - DST Self-test Read Error & also get Error Code 0F00:133C Msg: Disk - No suitable disk media is present (This one was related to SATA DVD + RW...)
I then tried to select F8 to set the system back to factory settings but do not get anywhere. It seems the only options are F2 or F12.
I turn on the laptop Inspiron 1545 and keep getting an error message that says, "WINDOWS BOOT MANAGER... Windows failed to start.... Then to gives me 3 steps but when I click F8 nothing happens!!! I insert the cd and it takes forever to do a diagnostic check.
I just got my new system, and wanted to remove the crapware before creating my recovery disks. I did that, then ran the Sony utility to create the recovery disks. I did not install anything.
One thing I uninstalled was SQL Server. I have no need of it.
Building the recovery froze at various stages of completion... 44%, 27%, 21%. I got an alert with the error, "Failed to start database service". I finally caught that error right away and dismissed -- then the system finished building the recovery disks.
Great -- now I have to wonder, are the recovery disks even valid?
Also, what database service does the system want, and what process wants it? I now get this error at arbitrary times. Sometimes on startup. Usually whenever I do anything with install/remove programs. So is this some new Windows 7 enhancement to the registry? Have I created a time bomb in my system by deleting SQL Server? If Windows 7 needs this, why did it let me delete it?
So far I wish I had a DOS machine. It's unfortunate that my work requires me to use Windows -- the OS treats me badly, and I can't use my new machine until I can predict whether the initial setup is valid.
My Dell Inspiron M5030 will not start-up when I turn on the power button the light come on, then I just get somecontinuous beeps with nothing displaying on the screen. The warranty on my Dell has expired. What are my options and what can I do to get my machine up and running.
can't get my laptop to boot up/start. No sounds. No beeps. No nothing. Power cord indicates it is working fine. Battery should be charged since I rarely operate it under the battery. Has been running fine, no problems, I paused a movie and since then it is completely dark and not operating. Really disappointing since it is my main computer that I use every day.
My Inspiron M5030 laptop was working perfectly fine last night. It was plugged in all night, and I had done the usual hibernate/sleep mode before going to bed. When I tried to start it up this morning, the screen remained black. It made the startup fan noise but then that stopped. Then it gave seven quite loud beeps. If I don't turn it off, it continues to give the seven beeps separated by a short break.
I purchased another Dell product in 2012 but use it so infrequently it's still relatively new in usage terms.
It worked just fine yesterday, but when I tried to turn it on today, I get 7 audio beeps and a black screen.
Using my desktop, I've searched on Dell and Google about the problem and it seems to be an overheating processor problem and also seems to be a well known defect that some people have gotten Dell to replace the motherboard even if the product is out of warranty.
Last week, I think it was last week, I did some Windows updates. Restarted. Came up with Windows Failed To Start.
So then yesterday I was uninstalling some games that I haven't played in awhile. Defraged after that. Restarted my computer. And it happened again Windows Failed To Start. Put my windows cd in. Got into Windows. After everything was loaded, I decided to restart again. Never uninstalled anything or deleted anything this time. Restarted.

I've got this on my HP G6 2053ef, and I've got an error message stating that "an error ocurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data" and also File: BootBCD Status: 0xc000000f
I've got a problem with the laptop Lenovo T410s. I've put the new HDD on it (tried even the same with a different HDD too), and started to instal WIN 7 64-bit from the recovery disks. I used to do it many times so far with different Lenovo laptops without any problems. But this time, a while before the end of the instalation (when processing the sdrivebackup.wim) it stops and comes with a statement: " the recovery process has been finished, please ...." (but I see that the progres bar is far awayfrom 100%) , and finishes the instalation, reboot the computer and it comes the screen with the statement from the Windows Boot Manager:
"Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem (...)
File: Windowssystem32winload.exe Status: 0xc000000f Info: The selected entrycould not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt"
I read a lot about the ways to solve similar problems, but they don't work on my case. The strange thing is, that I can instal WIN 8 or WIN7 from regular Windows instalation disks (not from Lenovo recovery, but from normal universal Windows instalation disks).
As I told before, I tried it in 2 different HDD disks with the same effect. It looks that the recovery instalation stops before the end without instaling some files which are missing later during starting the system.
I have a Dell Inspiron N5110. It ended up crashing on me about a week ago. I chose to restore the whole Computer. The computer ended up being stuck in restore mode. I let it be for three days--Too scared to shut it off. Finally I did. I ended up going and doing another restore. It worked. I started up my computer, set up the Internet and all that, then boom. It didn't want to start. It would restart itself every two seconds. I couldn't get past it shutting down on me. Then the last two days, it will start, and go to the "error recovery" page. I can select both options and both will Trigger it to restart again and open up the same page.
I have a Dell Inspiron 15R laptop that is 2 weeks out of warranty, and have only owned this laptop for 1 year from new. On Jan. 1 2015 i started my new year with a 2000-0142 code as i started up my computer, so i could skype my family and friends wishing them a happy new year. After doing some serious investigating with family, friends and the internet i found that this is a common problem with Dell's Hard Drive's and they seem to do nothing to rectify this issue...
My Inspiron 15z was just repaired today (it got a new motherboard due to a different problem that is now fixed). But now, whenever I start up my laptop, I get an error message from Intel Rapid Start Technology Manager that says "Your system does not appear to have Intel Rapid Start Technology enabled." I have never gotten this error message before. It is only now after my motherboard has been replaced. I don't understand what Intel Rapid Start Technology is and if I should have it enabled, and if so how to enable it.
I bought a Dell Inspiron 1545-8523 for my daughter for christmas. It has been operating fine until last night. I dont have much technical ability at all. I have however run a diagnistic F12 and it has come back with error code 2000-0142. The laptop does actually start up , but is very sluggish.
I've had my Dell Inspiron 1545 for a couple of years and it ran fine until recently I noticed that I couldn't update ANYTHING, Itunes, adobe, java, AVG... ect. so when I looked into what could have cause this problem I noticed a lot of the windows updates had failed, so of course I reran the updates and turned my computer off when it directed me too and no luck they still failed I need this computer for school or at least long enough for me to buy a new one.
I have a new Inspiron 15 3521. I tried to update to Windows 8.1 several times. It downloads to 50% and then says Installing for a few seconds and then Getting PC Ready for a few seconds then it starts downloading again. Steps taken so far
1. I ran Windows Update and the Intel Storage Controller 7 Series Controller needed to be updated. The update failed.
2. I went to Dell's Driver Support site and it detected the same driver needed to be updated. I ran the update and it installed successfully. I restarted the PC. I ran the Dell driver update again just to be sure and it said it needed to be update. I tried it 3 times and every time it said success but it never updated.
3. Downloaded driver from Dell and tried to install from Device Manager. It said the driver was up to date.
I googled this and it appears to be a common problem but no solution was stated. Surely others are having this issue.
I have a hp pavilion g7, operating with windows 7As of this evening, my laptop is failing to start up and freezes on the 'starting up' page display. After doing several of the recommended options, I ran the start up test which has failed.
The display screen reads-Memory test: passedSmart check: passedShort dst: failedFailure id: GU6E00-63479L-MFPX01-60TP03Product id: A7A44UANBAHard disk 1Start up test: failed
After putting the power on, nothing happen. It gives some kind of blue background. But it's not the critical error blue screen. It's some kind of windows-bitmap.
Using Esc and F2 I could do a System Test. The Short DST (don't know what that means...) says: FAILED.....
It gives details on the FAILURE ID : 64SP28-5HB7AC-XD003F-60VF03.... What should I do next?
The notebook is a HP, model DV6-3160SD, Running W7 on it. Don't know the bit-version (and can not check it).....
I ran de PSA diagnostics on my Studio 1555 and I got the error 2000 - 0212 (CMOS failed the pattern test). I changed the CMOS setting to default, ran the test again, and I got the same error.
Called Dell tech support, they told me that they are going to replace my board. My original problem is that Win7 is taking more than normal to start (2 - 3 minutes to be ready).
I got an Intel C2D P8700, 4GB RAM DDR2 800MHz, ATI Radeon 4570HD 512mb, 250GB Samsung HD 5400RPM. It should start fast, since the HD has no fragments, the win reg is ok and I have not crappy services or programs at startup. Does any1 know what is this error about?
So i start up my dell today. Worked fine lastnight, no issues. At the dell screen(just the dell name, black screen) i see this pop up. "Start pxe over ipv4" so i wrote that down.
Then i get pxe-e18:server response time out. Great i think to myself. Next is : Start pxe over ipv6. After a bit i see Pxe-e16:no offer received.
Laptop is an inspiron 3520 running windows 8. Would like to know what this thing means, online searching hasnt worked.
How to open my HP mini 110. When I always try to open, it says ENTER CURRENT PASSWORD. After 3 tries, it says Fatal Error ... System Failed . What to do?
I've done a Advanced diacnostic and got error : Failed hard disc check. Failure ID: 64G8G8-63N74R-XD6X0J-618C03. I do not have a warranty anymore but the laptop is about 2 years old.
