I have a hp pavilion g7, operating with windows 7As of this evening, my laptop is failing to start up and freezes on the 'starting up' page display. After doing several of the recommended options, I ran the start up test which has failed.

After putting the power on, nothing happen. It gives some kind of blue background. But it's not the critical error blue screen. It's some kind of windows-bitmap.
Using Esc and F2 I could do a System Test. The Short DST (don't know what that means...) says: FAILED.....
It gives details on the FAILURE ID : 64SP28-5HB7AC-XD003F-60VF03.... What should I do next?
The notebook is a HP, model DV6-3160SD, Running W7 on it. Don't know the bit-version (and can not check it).....

I have a Pavilion dv7 1245dx with Windows Vista 64 Bit bought 2009 at Best Buy. It slid off the arm of the couch onto a carpeted floor while shut down. Next day started ok, got into yahoo, facebook, then kind of froze up. Eventually, would not do anything, manually shut it down, started it back up. Black screen, 'No Bootable Device-Insert Boot Disc And Press Any Key'. It will not accept recovery discs that I made after purchase. Start up test ok, memory test ok, hard disk failed 'Boot Drive Not Found'. Caps lock light is blinking. I saw something in a forum about resetting or reseating the hard drive but no explanantion how to do it.

I'm having this extremely annoying problem with my HP Pavilion dv6-model1334us. Everytime I try to start up my laptop it always shows the menu screen saying Launch Start Up Repair or Start Windows Normally. I've tried to do a system restore multiple times, but the screen just stops on a blue screen. No it isn't the Blue Screen of Death, but it does attempt to start but fails and stands on the screen until it automatically or manually shuts down.

All the lights are on, but the screen is black and the only thing I hear is the fan moving. The caps lock and num lock keys have a blinking light, not really sure what that means. A week ago it overheated(again), and after that it hasnt started anymore. I press the power button, i see caps light once or twice(yes indeed, when starting it might show once and then next time twice and so on..). startup goes like this: first there will come normally that screen where reads "press ESC to startup menu", hten screen goes black and it should open windows but it doesnt. Instead it makes an restart and does that all the time. Ive ran all diagnostics and those are just saying passed to everything. I have also tried "hard reset" but that has no effect. Also F11 in startup(system recovery) doesnt work.

It would sporadically pop up and start changing the treble or bass at random intervals. It also randomly disconnected me from my wireless connection. I thought this might just have something to do with the slider being dirty, but after several attempts of cleaning it, it still remains a problem. At first it was just a little annoying, fixed by clicking the mouse or pressing the top internet button, but now it's REALLY annoying, even popping up as I write this post. Then I uninstalled one, i got same error.I tried the one i just uninstalled on same slot, i got same error.And then i tried them both on the other slot, i didn't have any errors.

I have the Dell XPS L501x and am now getting a failed message when the SMART Short Self Test is run. The message says:
"Your drive indicates that a failure may be imminent. Backup all important files and replace drive."
The hard drive is SAMSUNG HM640JJ.
A couple of questiions please:
1. I take if that this is a legitimate error message as opposed to some system glitch.
2. If I buy another SAMSUNG HM640JJ drive how can transfer the data from the old to the new.

The dell support center PC Check showed my hard drive funnel seek test failed. Before I ran the PC check, the laptop flashed and shutdown. I restarted in safe mode and backed up all of my files, shut down the laptop again and restarted.
I am currently rebooting the laptop, and have inserted the Dell Diagnostics and utilities CD and testing my hard drive. the following error code keeps occurring..No additional sense information

these are the block numbers so far, the test is still running.
I recently ran a test on my laptop(N4050).It first showed me I had a SMART extended self test failure. Then I had a hardware failure message. I have attached one of the things.May I know what am I supposed to do? My warranty has expired.
