Dell Inspiron 1525 :: Sleep Mode Set When Lid Closed But Keeps Restarting
Feb 8, 2009My wife and daughter both have Dell Inspiron 1525's. My daughter's works flawlessly while my wife's has one irritating glitch. When the lid is closed, instead of going into sleep mode, it reboots itself. It doesn't complete itself though it always stops at the "windows shutdown improperly how do you want to restart" or something like that screen...it's the dos screen that says do you want to start windows normally or in safe mode, etc.
When it does this it never shuts off so I'll get home from work or I'll get up in the morning to find the fan has run all night...It was purchased in august and I'd hate for my wife to prematurely burn this thing up.
I've gone into ms config and one by one tried to isolate what the problem could be. Sometimes I have it narrowed down or actually got the culprit because once in awhile it'll do what it's supposed to do....then next time the lid gets closed it goes back to the existing problem.

Apr 27, 2013My Dell Inspiron 15r 8 months old today suddenly started acting up. It keeps restarting after the dell logo screen. after reading up a bit online i have done the following
1)tried tapping f8 to boot via safemode but unsuccesful(also tried fn+f8 and shift+f8)
2)i have run diagnostics no error is encountered
3)i have entered bios menu and made changes to sata interface to ahci and other alternate options but to no avail
4)removed battery and pressed power button with power off for 15s but no result on giving power
I actually have grub bootloader through which i can open 3 operating systems i have-win7,and 2 unix based os's however as my laptop isnt going beyond the logo screen i cannot even enter my other operating systems to make any changes.

Sep 23, 2014From last 2 days, I have seen that my laptop 3521 Dell doesn't switch on at all. Second thing I have observed is that, when I have my charger connected to the plug point (not connected to the laptop), I see the green light on the charger as ON, but the moment I connect it to the laptop, the light from the charger turns OFF and ultimately, my laptop doesn't charge. I mean no power supplied.
The steps I have carried over so far are -
1) I have tried checking the laptop battery by taking it out and reputing it in the laptop and trying to see if it works, same problem.
2) I have tried checking if everything is okay with the charger, but still the same problem.

Jan 20, 2015I'm using a Dell laptop, I bought it like 9 months ago so anyway, I get these random blue screens sometimes twice in the same day, sometimes I get a blue screen after 6 days or so. I'm not sure what is doing this because I tried a memory test and hard drive one and everything was ok, I tried updating a couple of my drivers and I still got it. I think it's because my graphic card's driver is not supporting my OS(I'll put my specs down below) :
CPU: Core i3-3217U 1.80GHz
GFX: Intel HD Graphics 4000 Mobile
RAM: 4GB
OS : Windows 7 64 bites

Nov 28, 2014I have a Inspiron 15 (3521, Late 2012) and my battery has failed 7 days after the warranty was up-Murphy's Law.
I keep my laptop plugged in all the time and therefore do not run it off the battery.
I don't see how the battery could fail, when I don't run (use it) the computer from it, especially after only 1 years usage?

Oct 20, 2014Half the times I try to sign into my favourite sites with log-ins I type in my details ,pres enter, press NO for do I want simple pass to add to list and then nothing happens. If I press sign in again then simplepass pops up again and nothing happens until I restart my laptop then its usully OK again.
Can I safely just uninstall simplepass without creating future problems as I don't want to use it anyway.

Jul 22, 2013When I turn the laptop on it gets to the Dell logo screen then screen goes black with a cursor in top left corner but then it restarts again.Regardless if the F2 or F12 keys are selected or not, the systems restarts again. This cycle continues indefinately until I turn it off.
I have replaced the memory stick (brand new), the hard drive (brand new), the motherboard (used from ebay), and the processor (used from ebay) and still the same thing. I have tried it without the cd drive installed and same thing. I have tried it without the battery installed but with the power supply and same thing. I have tried turning it on with the windows disk in the cd rom drive and same thing.

Quick resumption of services via sleep mode is important to the way I work.

Dec 3, 2012So I have an Inspiron 17R SE 7720 that has all the latest drivers with BIOS A11 (Win 7 Ultimate x64)... I have all the power settings configured for correctly for sleep (no hybernate), however no matter what I try, I can't get the laptop to wake when the lid is closed via USB keyboard.
I'm using Logitech's Wave MK560 combo (unifying receiver) - both the keyboard/mouse have the wake option enabled in their hardware settings. I also have wake from USB enabled in the BIOS.
The interesting thing is that if I put the computer to sleep with the lid open, I can make it sleep/wake it from the Logitech devices. With the lid closed, I can only make it sleep - the only way to wake it up is to open the lid and press the power button.
Cliffs Notes:
Lid Open : CAN sleep/wake from USB Keyboard/Mouse
Lid Closed : Can ONLY sleep - won't wake unless I open Lid&press power button

Aug 20, 2013I have an Inspiron 15R (5537) that has all the latest drivers with Dell BIOS A01 (Windows 8). I have the options for closing the lid set at "Do Nothing" for both battery and plugged in, however no matter what I try, when the lid is closed I can't get the laptop to wake via USB keyboard or mouse.
Both the keyboard and mouse have the wake option enabled in their hardware settings. I also have wake from USB enabled in the BIOS.
The interesting thing is that if I put the computer to sleep with the lid open, I can make it wake it from the keyboard or mouse. But with the lid closed, the only way to wake it up is to open the lid and press the power button.
Summary:

Jan 18, 2015I've had a Dell Inspiron 15 3521 since May 2013; it has been updated to Windows 8.1, 4GB RAM, etc. It's been a great laptop in all honesty.
However, in the last few weeks, I've had some issues with the laptop booting up. Originally, it would turn on, but then stick with a black screen (no other sounds of the computer starting up), and then beep 7 times. Per another forum post I read, that's indicative of a Processor Failure.
In this case, I'd remove AC Power, the battery, give it about 15-20 seconds, then reconnect the charger. The laptop would turn back on, no problems. I'd end up popping the battery back in a little later, and it'd charge with no issues. This has been my fix in the meantime for the last month or so.
Now, I can't get my laptop to even register that it's connected to AC Power. It'll just stay black, and then beep 7 times in a row repeatedly. I've tried using another AC Adapter, in the case my adapter died, and no such luck.
What are my options? My laptop is no longer under warranty, though I do have my service tag.

Dec 27, 2014i purchased a dell Inspiron 3521 in July 2013 and i encountered this problem When i push the power button, the only thing i get is the power LED which is illuminated without blinking.... I waited for a while but it changes nothing the only way i can switch the power LED off is by removing the battery.... Holding the power button for a few seconds doesn't switch it off... Also when i plug the power adapter without battery, i can see the power adapter LED also lighting....No fan spins, no HDD light. Tried with Other new universal adapter and new battery. Not working.
Removed Battery and pressed power button for 30 seconds and tried removing static power if any.Nothing happens. Only power light is on No fan spins, no HDD light.
So dats everything about my laptop as per now...
