Most of the time when restarting laptop gets stuck at restarting. i have to pull out the battery and put it again n then on the laptop. sometimes the same goes for shutting down....the circle moves endlessly. And always restarting taking too much time almost 1---2 minutes.
View 5 RepliesMy Dell Inspiron 15r 8 months old today suddenly started acting up. It keeps restarting after the dell logo screen. after reading up a bit online i have done the following
1)tried tapping f8 to boot via safemode but unsuccesful(also tried fn+f8 and shift+f8)
2)i have run diagnostics no error is encountered
3)i have entered bios menu and made changes to sata interface to ahci and other alternate options but to no avail
4)removed battery and pressed power button with power off for 15s but no result on giving power
I actually have grub bootloader through which i can open 3 operating systems i have-win7,and 2 unix based os's however as my laptop isnt going beyond the logo screen i cannot even enter my other operating systems to make any changes.
I have a dell inspiron 3521 and lately it has been restarting whenever I close the lid. It has suffered no impacts and it is relatively new.

Half the times I try to sign into my favourite sites with log-ins I type in my details ,pres enter, press NO for do I want simple pass to add to list and then nothing happens. If I press sign in again then simplepass pops up again and nothing happens until I restart my laptop then its usully OK again.
Can I safely just uninstall simplepass without creating future problems as I don't want to use it anyway.

I have already tried the Dell CD and run diagnostics with no problems found. Could it be a software issue or hardware as in malfunctioned hdd?

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy laptop has been messed up ever since I updated it.It all started when I got a notification to update to windows 8.1. It was all good until the next day when I started it up and it would not pick up any Internet connection even though I knew my router was working as I could get an Internet connection on my mobile. I went to the network and sharing center and it said there that it was disabled so I right clicked on it to enable it. After I clicked it, my laptop went to a blue screen and came up with the following message something like this: we've encountered a problem, we're gathering some error info and we will restart your device.
So, it restarted and I tried to re enable the network again and the same thing happened. After about 5 tries the restart thing kept happening. I didn't know what to do so I thought to just restore the laptop. I did that and now it's just in this continuous blue screen restart loop. I can't even get to the log in Window, it just keeps going to the blue Window and then restarting.This is a new laptop, not even 6 months old and it was fine until I was told to update. I'm thinking of just taking it into the repair Centre as I have warranty and I feel as if I can't fix this problem myself as I can't even get into my actual desktop.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got around to trying out this laptop from a few years back. It was stored and before that it had only been used a few times.
It's been freezing *every* time I use it. Mouse just freezes in place and it's stuck. I tried doing a fresh install with all of the system disks and it still froze. I then tried to upgrade it to Windows 7, it still froze and it was pretty slow, so I did another fresh install with the system disks. Now I'm back to WinXP and it's still freezing.
I checked the event logs and it doesn't seem to register anything - maybe freezing too quickly? It seems to freeze whenever I do heavy web browsing or transferring files on my network via wireless, But I can't be sure and that might be a false lead, it just seems to happen when I'm doing those.
I think it may be a broken fan, The center fan runs smoothly, but the fan with the cooling unit on the side never seems to run at all. Is there any way to tell if the fan is broken? Is there any way to manually make it run so I can check if it's working? Should it be on all the time, or does it only come on when it gets hot?
my 12 month old Laptop Pavillion G6 (which has been the worst computer I have ever owned!) is stuck on an update. The screen has been showing the message "Keep your PC on until this is done... installing update 1 of 2" for 12 hours (overnight).
Just over 2 weeks ago it had a problem with connecting to WiFi - which also seemed to be related to Windows updates - I sorted that one out and it has been fine since then. Started an automatic update last night and now it is stuck.

I'm looking at a Studio 1557 laptop as a desktop replacement with a 1080p (1920 X 1080) screen which I think will make the text and icons quite small.
I can easily change the DPI to 120 (125%) or 144 (150%) and make everything readable which is great however when it's at a desk it's going to be connected to two 20 inch plus monitors and these require the normal 96dpi (100%).
The problem is the machine will be frequently connected and disconnected and having to close and reopen all applications to restart the machine properly is a real pain.
Windows XP used to warn you about having to restart but if you didn't things were still resized. With Win 7 nothing happens until you do.
I've tried to search as best I can for an answer to my problem, but haven't been able to find an answer as of yet.
I'm running a Dell XPS M1530 with Intel T9300 dual processors and 4GB RAM. My system is a dual-boot: I use Vista Enterprise 32-bit for general activities such as schoolwork and internet, and I also have a very bare-bones Windows x64 that I use for some intensive MATLAB computation and music recording/processing. This system is about 9 months old.
I first started having problems after I'd only had this computer for about a month. I was at a conference and had my laptop in its sleeve and in my backpack. I took it out sometime in the afternoon after having used it in the morning and it was extremely, extremely hot .....
I have tried many times and with many methods to fix the pixels, but I am only able to fix it one-by-one, pixel-by-pixel. Is there any way around this? (and BTW its my assigned school computer and is out of warranty)

Whenever a windows update runs, and my computer begins the restart process to finish the update, it will turn off, but will not turn back on automatically. The screen will go black, and the power light is still on, but nothing else will work on the computer unless you force shutdown the computer and then turn it back on. I've waited overnight to see if it would restart and it would not. I've updated all my drivers and run numerous virus and malware programs to make sure it wasn't a bug causing it, and now I'm stuck.
