View 4 Replies I recently started having some trouble with my laptop, the screen wouldn't come on during powerup, fans and hard drive sounded to be running.  This has happened 3 times since it started a few days ago.  I was able to get the screen on by plugging in my parents old monitor into the serial port, it just popped up in the same instant I plugged it in.  I have also had my usb ports stop functioning.
Â
On a forum somewhere that I cant find again, people with similar problems were told to take the back off the laptop and hit some sort of reset button on the motherboard. Â Should I try this? Â How can I find it?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a screen problem on my Laptop, on start-up it shows a white screen with black lines (Picture below) only happens once every 5-10 start-ups. Only happens for 5-10 Secs & sorts itself out before it boots up.
Other time it happens is when I'm using the internet, the screen just sticks, but then when I move the screen, it stops.

My Aspire E11 only has a white screen when turned on, what can I do? I have only had this computer for a little over a month.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOn many occasions when I turn on my Acer aspire 4315 the screen turns white. or if I put it in sleep mode and turn it on.
View 10 Replies View RelatedThe color display appears to be corrupted. 2/3 of the screen is perfect, one third is a band of white with a few thin lines of black and what appears to be black feather at the bottom. This happended my screen got stuck and I took the battery out to shut down the computer. I've already done a recovery. No improvement.Â
View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought an Acer Aspire V/-582PG 15,6" HD touch a month ago. Today I was playing games with a couple of friends when the screen suddenly turned white. I could still hear the game music and could talk to my friends on mumble. I tried to put the computer to sleep and turn it on again, but the screen was still bright white. I then tried to shut it down and start it again; the screen was still white.
Â
I then connected it to my tv using hdmi. This enabled me to see the Windows login screen. Shortly after I logged in to Windows, the computer shut down. Now i can't start it and none of the lights on the computer are on.
I know I have read several posts about this issue but Cntl+shift+Esc not solving issue. Notebook with black screen upon startup. I hear Windows 7 booting up but have a black screen. Was troubleshooting a monitor issue again when black screen happened.

Aspire 5552,Windows7 home premium..
Startup seems to be going as spec., Acer logo appears, circular arrow goes round then screen goes opaque but obviously still lit. Curser still responds but that's the end of the action.Â
View 5 Replies View RelatedI had exactly the same problem with my Acer Aspire 5552G with win7, I tried all things that was online e.g. New battery, Flashing bios, Fn + esc without battery when trying to start the computer and so on.
Â
It started now and then and worked perfect but when I shut it down again it could take me up to 50 tries to get it started.
Â
The problem was issues with the boot sector on the hard drive!
Â
Finally I made an Win7 repair disc and started from.
Â
I also checked for errors on the hard drive and it repaired some sectors before starting windows.
Â
After that it works like when it was new. The computer was bought January 2011.
I have a XPS L702X, purchased it last year at the beginning of the summer. After a couple of weeks of use, the colors would change on the screen and the screen would start flickering. The dell people did a remote assistance and updated the bios and graphics software. It stopped for a little while. Then the colors would just change but not flickering yet. Then it started all over again, but now it would flash and lock up my keyboard, but I could still control the mouse with an external one. So I got a live CD to see if that works and it runs, but the screen still flashes white and gets static. I can see the desktop and move the mouse but it eventually turns all white and static comes through the speakers. Now the computer will not even turn on at times, it sounds like it is booting up, but then just shuts off.
I have also tried doing a system restore but it will not stay on long enough to go through the process, this last time it shut down completely before even finishing.
I have also tried using an external monitor and it will go through until the screen starts flickering.
The other day my daughter clicked off the internet, and shut the laptop. I have the laptop set so if you close the lid it shuts down instead of "going to sleep". When I tried to turn the laptop back on I got the Acer screen, and then it went wierd/white'ish and I held the power button to shut it down so I could restart. When I tried to restart I got the "safe mode" restart screen. When I procceded past that I got a black/blue screen. Shut it down again with the power button. Now everytime I try to restart the laptop the LEDs light up, the fan kicks on, and the HD clicks and the laptop powers off. Then it will restart on it's own. LEDs come on, fan starts, and HD clicks and shuts off. It will do this as long as you sit there and let it. Doesn't matter if it's on battery power, or plugged in. I removed the battery and let it sit over night, reinstalled, and that exact same thing happens...
View 10 Replies View Relatedmy 5290g broke yesterday morning. after switching on, checking my emails and viewing some forums I decided to give old Silent Hunter 4 a go and then IT happened. Screen went pitch black, I could hear game's background music for few seconds and then all froze. After reset instead of ACER start screen I got white screen with some vertical stripes. I can hear HDD working, after a while I can see colours of my logging screen but everything is still a mess: after putting my password in screen is divided to 2 parts - one with my wallpaper colours and one black with single dots of different colours.
First suspicion was of course graphic card, but after opening the laptop I couldn't smell anything. So maybe it's LCD screen itself. I'm trying to borrow LCD monitor and check if the video-out socket is working to eliminate the graphic card.
My question is:
1. Did anybody had same experience with 5290g?
2. Can you recommend any decent online shop selling MMX graphic cards or LCD screens - UK only pls.
3. Any tips to improve cooling in this type of Acer?
I got a Acer Aspire 4315 for Christmas this year....
It has been running great , on Vista, untill recently....
I have 2 problems:
1....
When switching on sometimes i get a blank white screen....?
I can hear it swithing on, the fan spinning and the windows welcome noise but NO SCREEN!
What is going on?
This also happens at random times, sometimes i think its when it gets too hot?
2.....
My Ac adapter, power suply...
When left on fora long time gets very hot? I understand that this is normal...
But why does it make a very annoying high pitched noise?
Quick background:
My dad just returned from Afghanistan and is home for a few weeks before he heads back (by home I mean with my mother - i.e. I am not with them so I cannot get my hands on the computer).
He's been using his netbook (Acer Aspire One ZG5) while over there and brought it back with him. It's been working perfectly fine for the last 6 months while he was there, but today when he tried to turn it on to show some pictures to my mom it wouldn't.
The computer would start up fine and begin loading windows. Then it just dies - it just shuts itself off.
The next time, the computer gave them the option to turn it on in safe mode which they tried. Same problem.
They've tried several times and it won't start - it also fails at different times.
Sometimes it almost fully loads windows and other times it shuts off a lot sooner.
I made him open the BIOS which worked fine... for a few seconds and then randomly shut itself off again.
Computer goes to "startup repair".
"Windows cannot repair automatically"
"No System restore points have been created"!
If I use my recovery dvd's all data and apps will be lost.
Recovery-cds.com sells a "boot Disk" that will allow me to retrieve all data etc before reinstalling Vista to original install.......
I have an acer aspire 5536 it cam with vista everything ran fine with vista. When I installed windows 7 everything ran fine as well a week ago I started having startup problems,at first it only would take like 5 minutes to start up every few startups no big now it goes to the windows loading screen then goes black requiring me to restart it and run startup repair every time to get it to turn on. Other than that it works perfectly how do I fix it?
View 8 Replies View RelatedVery often, when my 5920G boots, it changes from the native 1280x800 resolution to 1024x768. Because of that, the icons mess up and I have to change the resolution and then put the icons back at their place.
There is roughly 75% chance this will happen when my laptop boots.
Adding this with my other problems makes using this 5920G a frustrating experience!
This started happening months ago, when I reformated the laptop the problem had gone, and now it reappeared.
I have an Acer Aspire 3000. I shut it down last night and started it up today. It gets to the login screen where I have to push ctrl + alt + del to log in. At this point it freezes. The touchpad and keys are nonresponsive. I can however get to the boot menu before this point.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen i boot my laptop everything seems to start but the screen remains blank. Nothing will come up. I have taken it apart several times to make sure everything was connected and reaplied arctic silver to the cpu and vga.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAt bootup I will get a black screen after the windows loading bar (at the bottom). It will stay a black screen as long as I reboot. I need to press the power button pressed down until it reboots then I do a Regular Windows Start. I've done the safe start so it can look for disk errors too. But I still get this black screen about 60% of every boot times.
What is the problem? Vista? or other?
I have acer aspire E15-511 with windows 8.1. F2 doesn't show at startup, ro the acronis F11 key. How to get form acer and acronis but no dice.Â
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe Troubleshoot icon that should be under the 'Advanced Startup' Option is missing. I don't know if it's because I upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 but I used that previously when I need to go to safe mode. Suddenly it disappeared. I can only pick two options, "Continue to Windows 8.1" and "Turn off the PC".
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy Acer 7740G has been acting strange lately, it makes a beeping noise of approximately 45 beeps (not exactly sure, because as they are quite quick) when it is restarted. When it is turned off and on everything is fine, the beeping is only when it is being restarted.
Â
Also it freezes randomly no matter what games/programs/apps are running. For example it freezes while playing heavy game, and also while playing Minesweeper with nothing else running in the background. I had to reinstall Windows several times, but the freezing keeps occuring without bsod. Also when restart is needed during installation it beeps like that every time on startup.
Operating system not found" when starting computer. Aspire V5 with Windows 8. What can I do?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy father’s notebook has been acting up for awhile. It beeps continuously at startup.
You would have to "F2" to the BIOS then exit the BIOS, then start up screen to come up again, beeps again repeat "F2" back to BIOS, but eventually XP would load. Unfortunately everything was sluggish, keyboard wouldn’t work right. So in my limited computer knowledge I decided to reformat the notebook. I could not find any back up disk that came with the notebook so I created a back up disk from factory settings via the Acer eRecovery Management process. I have ran this recovery disk twice. Both times I have installed the recovery disk I get NTLDR missing as well as the beeps have not gone away. From some online research beeps mean computer is telling us something is wrong with the hardware. Number of beeps tells what specifically; unfortunately I can’t find what continuous beeping means. NTLDR missing I found usually means that the computer is looking in the wrong place for the file.
I have no idea what I should do next to resolve the problem. Should I go out and buy an OME copy of XP Pro. Will friends XP Pro disks work as long as I use the XP Key found on the bottom of my laptop? How can i figure what hardware is causing the notebook to beep?
Ideally what I would like to achieve is a clean install with the most limited amount of Acer bloat ware installed. I am trying to find a list of what programs are needed and what programs are bloatware.
I installed "Startup Inspector for Windows" and got an error message that borlndmm.dll was missing and therefore the program could not open. I did a Norton power scrub, ran MWB, did a clean reboot.

This problem has been persistent for quite sometime now.
Â
After I boot up my laptop, there's a yellow solid screen which appears before the main starup page
comes on.
Â
I have updated all the drivers, but the yellow screen is still appearing.
