View 3 RepliesOn many occasions when I turn on my Acer aspire 4315 the screen turns white. or if I put it in sleep mode and turn it on.
View 10 Replies View RelatedThe color display appears to be corrupted. 2/3 of the screen is perfect, one third is a band of white with a few thin lines of black and what appears to be black feather at the bottom. This happended my screen got stuck and I took the battery out to shut down the computer. I've already done a recovery. No improvement.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought an Acer Aspire V/-582PG 15,6" HD touch a month ago. Today I was playing games with a couple of friends when the screen suddenly turned white. I could still hear the game music and could talk to my friends on mumble. I tried to put the computer to sleep and turn it on again, but the screen was still bright white. I then tried to shut it down and start it again; the screen was still white.
I then connected it to my tv using hdmi. This enabled me to see the Windows login screen. Shortly after I logged in to Windows, the computer shut down. Now i can't start it and none of the lights on the computer are on.
I have a XPS L702X, purchased it last year at the beginning of the summer. After a couple of weeks of use, the colors would change on the screen and the screen would start flickering. The dell people did a remote assistance and updated the bios and graphics software. It stopped for a little while. Then the colors would just change but not flickering yet. Then it started all over again, but now it would flash and lock up my keyboard, but I could still control the mouse with an external one. So I got a live CD to see if that works and it runs, but the screen still flashes white and gets static. I can see the desktop and move the mouse but it eventually turns all white and static comes through the speakers. Now the computer will not even turn on at times, it sounds like it is booting up, but then just shuts off.
I have also tried doing a system restore but it will not stay on long enough to go through the process, this last time it shut down completely before even finishing.
I have also tried using an external monitor and it will go through until the screen starts flickering.
I started having problems with my laptop weeks ago. First, there were problems with the screen. Sometimes when I turned the computer on, the screen didn't displayed, so I had to try several times for it to come. Then, even when the image appeared, if I moved the laptop a little bit or it was on for a long time, color stripes would appear on the screen.
After that, one day i tried to turn on the computer and a message appeared that said that the operating system could not be found. By then I asked someone at my school and they told me there could be a problem with the hard drive. So I took it with them, and they told me it was so damaged that there was no way to recover the information I had, so I lost all of it. They formatted the drive because in that way there was a possibility I could save the drive even though the information was gone. So the next step was to install Windows XP again.
So I started doing that, but when I turned on the computer, now there wasn't even a message that said that the operating system could not be found. Now there's only this white line flashing on the top of the screen. What can I do now? For what I've read, there can be a problem with the master boot record. Considering that there's a huge chance that my hard drive is really useless now, I was thinking about buying a new one, but I fear that even then I'll still have problems with that boot record.
Just mid usage, while plugged in, my laptop turned off completely unexpectedly. I do take care of my laptop, and it was not overheating, as it had been on only some five minutes, simply for browsing. Now, there are no signs of life. With whatever combination of the battery and/or adapter plugged in or not, it is always the same result; no lights at all and nothing to indicate what's happening. I tried holding down the power button with the battery and adapter out for two minutes and then trying again just with the adapter but that didn't work.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy 2 day old Lenovo Y510P laptop has a problem with charging. I noticed the battery was never going above 60% charged. I left it plugged in for over 24 hours and nothing changed. So I decided to completely drain the battery and used the laptop until it died. With the laptop off I left it plugged in until the battery LED turned white which indicates the battery is fully charged. Unfortunately the battery still shows 60% charged.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThe other day my daughter clicked off the internet, and shut the laptop. I have the laptop set so if you close the lid it shuts down instead of "going to sleep". When I tried to turn the laptop back on I got the Acer screen, and then it went wierd/white'ish and I held the power button to shut it down so I could restart. When I tried to restart I got the "safe mode" restart screen. When I procceded past that I got a black/blue screen. Shut it down again with the power button. Now everytime I try to restart the laptop the LEDs light up, the fan kicks on, and the HD clicks and the laptop powers off. Then it will restart on it's own. LEDs come on, fan starts, and HD clicks and shuts off. It will do this as long as you sit there and let it. Doesn't matter if it's on battery power, or plugged in. I removed the battery and let it sit over night, reinstalled, and that exact same thing happens...
View 10 Replies View Relatedmy 5290g broke yesterday morning. after switching on, checking my emails and viewing some forums I decided to give old Silent Hunter 4 a go and then IT happened. Screen went pitch black, I could hear game's background music for few seconds and then all froze. After reset instead of ACER start screen I got white screen with some vertical stripes. I can hear HDD working, after a while I can see colours of my logging screen but everything is still a mess: after putting my password in screen is divided to 2 parts - one with my wallpaper colours and one black with single dots of different colours.
First suspicion was of course graphic card, but after opening the laptop I couldn't smell anything. So maybe it's LCD screen itself. I'm trying to borrow LCD monitor and check if the video-out socket is working to eliminate the graphic card.
My question is:
1. Did anybody had same experience with 5290g?
2. Can you recommend any decent online shop selling MMX graphic cards or LCD screens - UK only pls.
3. Any tips to improve cooling in this type of Acer?
I got a Acer Aspire 4315 for Christmas this year....
It has been running great , on Vista, untill recently....
I have 2 problems:
1....
When switching on sometimes i get a blank white screen....?
I can hear it swithing on, the fan spinning and the windows welcome noise but NO SCREEN!
What is going on?
This also happens at random times, sometimes i think its when it gets too hot?
2.....
My Ac adapter, power suply...
When left on fora long time gets very hot? I understand that this is normal...
But why does it make a very annoying high pitched noise?
So last night I replaced the motherboard and Video Card on my E1705. Everything booted fine. There were a few things I needed to fix, but the computer worked. In doing so I noticed I only had 512 RAM, so one of the sticks wasn't being recognized. I figured I must have put it in wrong, so I took them both out and put them right back in. I then tried to start the computer, and the power light and numbers lock lights came on, and the caps and scroll lock lights started flashing. The screen was black and turned off after ~1 minute.
Did I fry my RAM, or is something wrong with the motherboard reading the RAM? This is freaking me out.
Turn on my g6 last night and it turned on but the screen does not the fan turns on and the lights are normal I tried taking the battery. Out and the adaptor and did the 30 second thing that did not work I tried it without the battery and still nothing at one point it sounded like the operating system turned on but the screen did not (windows 7). I've lots of work to be doing on my laptop
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron N4110 laptop, 64-bit operating system using Windows 7. Today, twice actually, it turned off with a blue screen appearing that said it detected a problem. I am worried there might be something wrong with my hard drive. And I know I should definitely back up my files. I am not very experienced with how to do this except I know I should put it in safe mode. I have a blank CD also.
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust received a y410p from ups, no visible box damage but when turned on it goes to an unclear blue screen and does nothing. It sometimes turns on and off repeatedly without getting anywhere. The OKR button gets stuck in when pushed and does nothing but repeatedly turning on and off the laptop. Spoke to lenovo and they are sending me a recovery disk, (not overnight mind you, but 3 day delivery, what great customer service that is). I have serious doubts that the recovery disk will do anything. What are my remedies?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a Vostro 3550 and it is not even a year old. Last night I was typing an email and all of a sudden the screen turned black and was all static. This morning I was having difficulty turning it on but saw the boot screen and hit Enter to Boot normally. Then it went static again. I have tried turning it on with and without the power cord plugged in. I no longer can get it to even load to the boot screen.

View 3 Replies View RelatedOn my old XPS, when the screen turned off, the keyboard backlight would turn off with it automatically. My new Inspiron 17 does not do this, and I can't find anything that seems to control the behavior. Is there a way to do this?
Alternately, is there a software solution to control the keyboard backlight?
I am a macbook user who had my first OS X blue screen. So I installed a new canon printer today, updated ilife 08 to ilife 09(I discovered that the ilife that preinstalled was 08 and the disk that came with macbook was ilife 09, suprise ), and was about to do some software update.
After the software update program checked that there were 6 new updates, it then freeze, and result in slowing other softwares. Then I figured out there is a force quit in apple menu, so I used it and restarted the system. But after the screen turned into blue, it wouldn't respond any more. So I stared at the blue screen for about a minute, and realized that Mac does crash and has blue screen
After anther one minute of waiting, I pushed down the power button and forced the computer to shut down( something I learned from my old Fujitsu laptop, it is one tough laptop, and it lasts for over 8 years already, and still running).
After the computer was restarted, I launched upgrade again, and this time nothing happened. Then I figured out there is something called disk utility that I can use to check the disk, and after the disk permission check, it came back with many permission changes for the canon printer program and some other programs, so I repaired them.
I just bought my laptop today, it has a i7-4500 processor with windows 8.1... While i was installing norton the screen turned blue but it was ok after a few minutes. But the screen turned blue again, and my task manager stopped responsing. It returned to normal after i re-signed in. Now it just turns blue for a few seconds occasionally and goes back to my desktop screen with all my shortcuts moved to the centre and my background removed.
I am not sure if this is normal, haven't used windows 8 before.
Got an Inspiron n5050 in December 2011 and it worked fine until it decided to shut down and I manually turned it back on and it stopped at the screen showing the patents and won't progress past that, I've tried manually force starting from hard drive and also doing a diagnostics run and it reported that no problems were found.
View 16 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron 15 (N5040) and currently having problems with it. I was watching something this morning and suddenly the screen turned green and then shut off. It turns on but the screen refuses to. I first expected that the screen is just unplugged inside the computer so I tried to hook it up to my TV via Hdmi and oddly it didn't do anything.I took it all apart disconnecting everything and then reconnecting everything. Everything seemed to be in good shape. No signs of shorts. Then after letting it run I noticed it beep 4 times. According to Dell 4 beeps mean "Read/Write error." I don't know if they meant the ram or hdd so I tried isolating both sticks of ram and no difference. I tried putting in two different hdds, nothing different. Even if they were I don't know why the screen wouldn't turn on and the bios wouldn't try to load. I suspect that the gpu is just fried. Dell Inspiron 15 (N5040), Intel i3, 8 gb of ram. Windows 7.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 9400 with a 7950gtx in it. I recently had to replace the inverter in the lcd because it was giving me problems. It worked fine for a day and occasionally I would get a white screen randomly but it would go away and the normal one would come back. Now its white screen all the time. Its definately not the videocard because i can plug in an external monitor and its fine. Is this the inverter? lcd? bulb?
