Got an Inspiron n5050 in December 2011 and it worked fine until it decided to shut down and I manually turned it back on and it stopped at the screen showing the patents and won't progress past that, I've tried manually force starting from hard drive and also doing a diagnostics run and it reported that no problems were found.

I did some research and found out that it is a problem with my processor. How do I fix this problem? Or will I need to return it to the place I bought it? I have some important stuff on my hard drive that I wish to keep if possible.

I have also tried draining the battery and recharging then rebooting but nothing happened. It is completely unresponsive. It used to work just fine, just last night I've been playing games and it was working smoothly. But when I woke up and booted up my laptop, nothing was working. By the way, what's the small button underneath the laptop, I think it is the master reset button, because my brother was thinking of pressing it.

It was running absloulty fine yesterday and now when I power up, it sticks just before the logon page at just the black screen with the mouse. It even does the same if I try to start it in safe mode. I have run a BIOS which comes back clean. Have also tried the power off and hold the on button for 20 seconds but alas, the problem. I'm unable to do a system restore and cannot find the optipn for a factory restore.

Today, twice actually, it turned off with a blue screen appearing that said it detected a problem. I am worried there might be something wrong with my hard drive. And I know I should definitely back up my files. I am not very experienced with how to do this except I know I should put it in safe mode. I have a blank CD also.

Alternately, is there a software solution to control the keyboard backlight?
I have an Inspiron N5050 which has a couple of issues. First issue is the cursor will move to other parts of the screen (where the mouse is) while in the middle typing. The laptop is setup with both Win 7 & 8 and it happens in both Windows versions. How to correct this or should I chuck this up to typical Dell poor quality control??
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron 15 (N5040) and currently having problems with it. I was watching something this morning and suddenly the screen turned green and then shut off. It turns on but the screen refuses to. I first expected that the screen is just unplugged inside the computer so I tried to hook it up to my TV via Hdmi and oddly it didn't do anything.I took it all apart disconnecting everything and then reconnecting everything. Everything seemed to be in good shape. No signs of shorts. Then after letting it run I noticed it beep 4 times. According to Dell 4 beeps mean "Read/Write error." I don't know if they meant the ram or hdd so I tried isolating both sticks of ram and no difference. I tried putting in two different hdds, nothing different. Even if they were I don't know why the screen wouldn't turn on and the bios wouldn't try to load. I suspect that the gpu is just fried. Dell Inspiron 15 (N5040), Intel i3, 8 gb of ram. Windows 7.

Whenever I try to turn on my laptop, it shows me dell logo and then it goes black... booting process is still on..and if you see screen in bright light you can see the process..
Now initially i thought that i need to replace my screen but it is showing dell logo so i am pretty sure that screen works fine, now my laptop does have the problem of overheating. is that is a problem????

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using Dell Insipron 15R 5520 Laptop Windows 7. Last few days I am getting a long beep sound after I pressed the power button and the Dell progress bar loads. And if I press power button, its turning off. Later I've pressed F8 key to login in Wiindows Normal Mode, its opening Windows. So every time i've to press F8 key to login. Sometimes the beep sound continues and not logging in normal mode or in Safe mode.
I thought it might be RAM issue and I checked 'System Settings' in Control Panel, it shows the usable RAM is 2.77GB of 8GB.
I went to Dell laptop service center near by my location and they said its keyboard problem, they charging too much amount to replace keyboard. but my keyboard is working properly.
My touch screen has recently stopped working for an unknown reason. I looked under "Devices' in 'Device Manager' using the side 'Search' tool and I actually can't find the touch screen program anywhere. I ran a Diagnostics Test for it and it said that the device could not even be found.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo last night I replaced the motherboard and Video Card on my E1705. Everything booted fine. There were a few things I needed to fix, but the computer worked. In doing so I noticed I only had 512 RAM, so one of the sticks wasn't being recognized. I figured I must have put it in wrong, so I took them both out and put them right back in. I then tried to start the computer, and the power light and numbers lock lights came on, and the caps and scroll lock lights started flashing. The screen was black and turned off after ~1 minute.
Did I fry my RAM, or is something wrong with the motherboard reading the RAM? This is freaking me out.
I can't seem to log in to my laptop. I'm able to enter my password and then the welcome screen comes up whilst it loads but then the screen goes black and all I can see is the cursor. I'm still able to move the cursor so perhaps I am logged in but just unable to see my desktop?

My Dell Inspiron N5050 laptop was working fine. I got home and tried to power it on but got nothing so I figured it needed charged. I plugged the a/c adapter in and pressed the power button and still nothing? I tried removing the battery and trying to power it on with and without the a/c adapter. The only light it has lit is the charging light when its plugged in. Not even any sounds or the fan.

This morning I was having difficulty turning it on but saw the boot screen and hit Enter to Boot normally. Then it went static again. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have upgraded my Win 7 operating system to Win 8.1. on my Dell Inspiron NS5050. All other components remain the same. The first deals with the USB Port. I insert a USB and it is not recognized. I open Device Manager and in Properties uninstall the the Driver and reboot. The USB now works correctly. Why does this keep happening? Tried to update Driver but comes back device is up to date. When USB fails I get message, "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)".
Second Issue. Monitor won't start after any updates. After several times starting and restarting, I connected to an external monitor. External monitor starts and I can Log In. Computer functions normally with external monitor. Device Manager one time showed an error with the monitor. I deleted the driver and the original monitor worked correctly. Other times with a simple "Windows Defender" update monitor won't start. Using external monitor works every time. Additional monitor switching sometimes works other times not. Not sure what is wrong with the F1 key. Turns on and off monitor?
When booting my Dell Inspiron N5050 it goes to dell screen and ithe dell logo and loading line dont move at all for atleast 5 seconds then it goes to a black screen with a blinking white line then after that it pulls something up saying restart and insert proper boot media and it pull something saying something is using the same patterns then it says whole bunch of numbers. when doing a diagnostic it says theres one or more errors and theres a red x on my hardrive.
