View 1 Replies View RelatedWhenever I boot up my laptop without the AC adapter plugged in I get a beeping error. 00C08270 Real Time Clock error pops up on the screen before start up. From my research it tells me that it could be the CMOS battery or the motherboard. If it's the CMOS battery I'm willing to replace the battery myself but if it's the motherboard I will probably need to go to the shop for that. What I'm afraid of is the cost. If my problem is the CMOS battery I don't know where to buy the battery replacement myself and if it's the motherboard, is it worth it to pay the cost of replacement and from what I know paying for a new OS too? or should I buy a new laptop instead?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron 1454 which when you press the power button it whirrs slightly (think it's the fan) before doing nothing else except having a blank screen and a white light indicating power to the laptop (solid white). My OS is Win 7 and I've had the laptop a few years now. So far I've tried the following:-
Pressing the D button while powering on to test the display - this works as I get the coloured screens so It can't be a screen fault.
Pressing the FN key whilst powering on to get the POST code - this is seven beeps continuously which seems to common and has to do with the CPU cache?
Tried the obvious removing battery, holing power button for 1 minute to discharge any residual power. Also removed the CMOS battery and put it back in again.
Also tried plugging in an external monitor but nothing showed up. Is it something to do with it being stuck in hibernation?
My dell Inspiron 1545 will not boot up into windows on start up, I've run a computer diagnostics, which came up with an error code 2000-0146. What this means? I've looked on the support pages & basically they say i need to contact them so it sound serious, is this so?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a month-old dell inspiron 5323 13z running windows 8 that stopped booting yesterday. I had a problem with booting since I got the laptop, namely the boot always stopped and had to press ctr+salt+del to continue the boot process. Dell support recommended the usual things: updating the bios, the OS, resetting the system to factory settings with no effect. Finally, I have decided I can leave this minor annoyance until know when it stopped booting at all after hybernating the system (there was no problem with hybernate before this incident).
So, it displays the dell logo for a short time when powering up, then the screen goes blank but not completely black. After pressing some keys like space a text 'f12 options' is printed in the lower right corner and en empty horizontal bar may appear. Then typing ctrl+alt+del or some random keys the boot may continue and at this point it may be possible to enter the boot menu by pressing f12. So I can change the boot option to uefi or legacy, but neither works. There is no option to boot from USB or anything else (no DVD drive anyway!). So I cannot even try to boot a linux live CD. However, i remember that these options existed before before in the boot order or priority list which is empty now. I can run the pre-boot diagnostics from the boot menu, but it does not find any problem.
I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 and the 98% ofthe keyboard has stopped working. I turned it on and tried to log on but nothing. I tried restarting it, taking out the battery and even cleaning the keyboard still nothing.

My Battery Lasts a couple of seconds, Left Mouse stuck in and wont work sometimes. But the main problem is overheating recently the fan literally stopped spinning, it made some weird sounds like clashing and now it doesn't spin AT ALL. My Laptop lasts 30 minutes before overheating and turning off. Another Problem is my wireless networks!?? Sometimes my wireless networks disappear they literally disappear! it cant detect wireless signals so i have to restart my computer to fix it!
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe touchpad on my dell inspiron 1545 has stopped working for no apparent reason. The left and right buttons still work. An external mouse works and I was able to check my touchpad settings using it, the touchpad settings all appear to be in order and I verified it was enabled. I can't understand why the touchpad suddenly stopped working...
I'm using Windows Vista.
my Inspiron 1545 dvd/cd player has stopped copying and ejects the disc everytime i try!!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that the screen doesn't seem to be evenly lit. For example when I set the desktop background to black, it looks pretty black at the top of the screen, but as I look further down towards the bottom it turns almost medium gray/blue-ish.
I've tried all brightness, contrast and gamma settings with no luck.
Has anyone else seen this problem, and is it a reason for sending back the laptop? Or is this something "you get" for buying a lower-end laptop like the 1545?

Dell has unwittingly revealed a major revision to its Inspiron notebooks courtesy of a company-hosted technology guide discovered late yesterday. The Inspiron 1545 will be one of Dell's first truly mainstream notebooks with a 16:9 aspect ratio display and should switch from today's 15.4-inch LCD to a more movie-friendly 15.6-inch, 1366x768 (WXGA) screen with the option of an LED backlight. It should also mark a jump to Centrino 2 that carries anything from a 2GHz Celeron to a 2.53GHz Core 2 Duo and will bring GMA 4500MHD integrated video as a result.
Little else is known from the leak, though the baseline RAM will be doubled to 1GB while the enclosure appears headed to a darker, glossy look versus the silver tones of the existing Inspiron 1525. Dell also makes clear plans to ship the system with an Ubuntu Linux option in addition to the expected Windows Vista choice.
When the 1545 or a smaller equivalent like the 1445 would appear hasn't been divulged with the leak, though the proximity to the holidays without a matching announcement may point to an early 2009 update. [via Engadget]
I have a 17 Inch Inspiron R Se that I purchased in January...it has started booting to a black screen...if I press the power button again to turn it off then back on it boots fine...it is very annoying seeing as it is almost new...I had the same issue a couple of weeks after getting it and did the computer renew thing which fixed it (until now) but I don't want to do that again as I have a ton of stuff on it now that I don't want to mess with and have to reload etc...
I tried the hard reset and it did absolutely nothing...ran the diagnostics and everything passed.
When I press power button , my laptop show odd screen and and strip on the screen.it also start doing blue
screen dumping and do not transfers boot to OS at all , after all this computer goes auto shutdown.
This is my second HDX 18 Laptop sent by HP in the last month. I've had this one for about a week. Everything was fine when I went to bed last night. This morning when I went to start it up it stays at the first screen (the one with the bios logo and tells you to press f10 for options) sorry if I am wrong on describing that. I can get to the Bios but I get 7 loud beeps before it enters. I am now running the system diagnostic tests on it because I have NO idea what else to do!
I don't know that much about computers so I would just ask that you use beginners terms.
now I am getting something that says "Start-up Test" Failed "Boot device not found" (3F0)
What does this mean?? ****
Recently I broke the screen on my laptop and I have purchased and received a replacement Dell Inspiron 15.6" Matte 1600x900 LED screen from an internet retailer.
The problem is that when I connected it to the laptop first time it did not work, I figured out there was a loose connection for my flex cable (my bad), then I made the connection firm and I got my new screen working perfectly! I got happy and screwed back the screen. Before assembling everything back, just tried it again and damn - the picture became very-very dark. I mean, no colorful details on the screen - I do see a picture but it is shades of dark grey - i can hardly see something there but again, the picture is there. I don't know much about LED screens but I would say it looks like there is no "backlight" or something like that.
Note, when I switch to the external monitor - everything is fine. First I thought the culprit is the flexible LED cable that goes from the motherboard to the LED screen. I just thought that maybe I broke the cable or its connection when I was disconnecting/connecting my LED screen. I figured out the cable part number (R267J) and ordered a new one from Dell. Once it arrived, I tried it - the same problem . So right now I definitely know the following:
1. The replacement LED screen must be good cause I saw it working and it is actually showing something, just there is a lack of brightness or "backlight"
2. The LED flex cable is good (I have the old and new one - they work the same)
3. The external LCD monitor connected via VGA works well - so it looks like the video controller is OK
Guys, what should I try next?
So I was using my Inspiron 1545 and everything was going fine, then suddenly the screen just went nuts. It was green and pink, flickering, and had bars flashing everywhere. I turned it off manually, and after that it would turn on a few times (BIOS graphics were fine) but the desktop would be messed up. Then soon after that, I couldn't even get to BIOS. I press the power, the fan starts for like 2 seconds, then the laptop completely shuts down. I've tried removing the power supply and battery, holding the power button, then putting them back to no avail. I've also tried having it only connected to the power supply. I've even tried removing one of the two RAM.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy laptop keep looping to black screen saying "Windows Error Recovery"and provided with 2 options:
1 Launch Startup Repair (Recommended)
2 Start Windows Normally
If I select option 1,
I am taken to a blank black screen in which the only way i am able to exit fromis if I push the power button.
If I select option 2,
The windows loading bar shows up but in the end takes me back to the Windows ErrorRecovery screen. I have tried both options over and over again but end up withthe same result.
I have press <F8> on the keyboard until the Advanced Boot Options menu appears on thescreen.
I have select Repair Your Computer onthe Advanced BootOptions menu, and then press <Enter>.
Iwas taken to a black screen saying "Windows Error Recovery"
My laptop is not booting and the screen is two tones of grey when I try to boot.
I was working on it and left it alone for an hour and when I came back the screen was grey and have not since been able to get it to shut down or start up.
My Dell Inspiron 1520 does not complete booting. It start booting, then the screen go black. I am currently doing is 'diagnostic test'. This also came back with no problem, but a window popped up and asked whether I want to continue to full diagnosis. I closed YES. I hope this solves the black screen problem.
Before this problem, the battery would go flat in 20-30 min when not connected to AC source.
For the past several days, when I've first opened my laptop there is only a blank screen. The computer does not wake up even after I push the power button and the screen continues to be blank. The only way that I've gotten it to respond is by shutting off, unplugging, removing battery and then replacing battery and turning it back on again. I've done this in different combinations. Do I need a new battery or is something else wrong?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was on vista bootcamp and Loading a page on this site and listening to the music at the same time. My computer froze. I hard shut it down and restarted to my mac os x to set the fans to max. Now when i'm im booting to windows through bootcamp, I goes past the first blinking cursor at the top and before showing the cursor a second time, it stops on a black screen and continues booting up. It doesn't go past the black screen. I hard shut it down and went to parallels to try to boot it. It boots up fine on parallels! Now what happened? Is it something to do with my bootcamp manager? I don't want to re format my windows again.

Whenever I try to turn on my laptop, it shows me dell logo and then it goes black... booting process is still on..and if you see screen in bright light you can see the process..
Now initially i thought that i need to replace my screen but it is showing dell logo so i am pretty sure that screen works fine, now my laptop does have the problem of overheating. is that is a problem????
and my laptop screen attachment to main body is not perfect too.
My brand new Inspiron 14z remains on the starting DELL screen after boot up.
The initial windows 8 parameters have been registered properly (it seems...) and since the second requested reboot the PC does not go to windows 8. I have been suspecting a hardware problem and ran the full diagnostic (success!). There is nothing into the setup (F2) parameters which looks wrong and none of the boot options (F12) I tried have been successful... Is there a way to run a windows 8 safe mode boot or equivalent (note that I cannot go inside windows 8 top change this kind of option of course), and to move forward?
I desperate to see the someting else than this Dell Logo in the middle of the screen (forever?).
After a BSOD I opted for the Windows Startup Repair - but it never gives me a fix. This is the summary message.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron 1545 and have had this laptop for 3 or more years. Last night I shut off my laptop normally but today, upon booting, the screen just turns black and nothing else. When starting up, the Dell logo still loads and the screen still shows "safe mode or start up regularly."
Upon choosing either option, the screen loads for awhile then fades into black. Nothing else happens after.I would atleast like to know how to save my files within the laptop. [Atleast to start it up once more to save all the files to a USB and not lose them forever..]
I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 that doesn't boot successfully. It gets to the screen indicating "Starting WIndows" and then just sits there. I tried safe booting but when it should be displaying windows files that are loading, the screen just stays blank. I tried selecting "Repair" boot but the system just blinks and returns to the window that asks me to select Repair or Normal Boot. (If I select Normal Boot, it gets to "Starting Windows" and that's it.
I checked out the hard drive externally and it appears the hardware is functioning normally. I successfully booted with Hiren's Boot CD. I would like to attempt a RECOVERY but can't get beyond the Repair screen.
Since Dell doesn't provide an OS disk with the computer that would allow me to reinstall Windows 7...
