For the past several days, when I've first opened my laptop there is only a blank screen. The computer does not wake up even after I push the power button and the screen continues to be blank. The only way that I've gotten it to respond is by shutting off, unplugging, removing battery and then replacing battery and turning it back on again. I've done this in different combinations. Do I need a new battery or is something else wrong?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem turning on my dell n5010 laptop with win7/ubuntu dual boot , I was doing some blogging using ubuntu and I went to have lunch and left it on but when I got back I found my laptop dead with the black screen and not turning on again with only the power led always on then the hdd led for a few seconds but not hearing any beeps and not seeing anything on the screen.
I have followed some solutions posted before but none of them worked.
1 - I tried to remove battery , ac and press power button to drain static electricity then trying to boot with ac adapter only but it didn't work.
2 - I tried the LCD test and tried an external monitor but neither works.
3 - I tried removing the memory modules , cleaning and reinserting but no change.
3 - I tried Dell Diagnositic but the only difference was that I heard 7 repetitive beeps when on the mode but not seeing anything on the screen .
I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 which I cannot get started due to screen stating Time-of-day clock stopped. What I need to do.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a 17 Inch Inspiron R Se that I purchased in January...it has started booting to a black screen...if I press the power button again to turn it off then back on it boots fine...it is very annoying seeing as it is almost new...I had the same issue a couple of weeks after getting it and did the computer renew thing which fixed it (until now) but I don't want to do that again as I have a ton of stuff on it now that I don't want to mess with and have to reload etc...
I tried the hard reset and it did absolutely nothing...ran the diagnostics and everything passed.
My Dell Inspiron 1520 does not complete booting. It start booting, then the screen go black. I am currently doing is 'diagnostic test'. This also came back with no problem, but a window popped up and asked whether I want to continue to full diagnosis. I closed YES. I hope this solves the black screen problem.
Before this problem, the battery would go flat in 20-30 min when not connected to AC source.

When ever I carry my laptop to some place lets say from home to college it stops booting, when I switch on my laptop it starts but after 10-15 seconds it shuts off, also when I try to keep the system in bios it again shuts off within 10-15 seconds.
Twist in the problem is that if I keep my laptop idle for 20-30 minutes it starts working fine (I never remove battery or ram just left my laptop idle)
Another thing is i face this problem only when laptop is carried by me in my back pack or u can say when laptop is subjected to movement.
I noticed this pattern seriously. For past 15 days I didn't displaced my laptop from my desk and it work like any normal laptop but today when I took it to my friends place and there when I tried to boot it it starts and shuts off within 15 seconds while booting so I did the same left it idle without even removing ram or battery or charger for 10 -15 minutes and then it starts working fine.
Why is this happening is there is a problem i hardware or just some loose connection.
My new Inspiron 7520 is not booting beyond the black "dell" screen after i shut it down for the first time.

I just get a black screen with a moveable mouse pointer, nothing else. Hard disk activity comes to a halt.
Monitor in black display but with the power turned ON. Also, I cant do anything for any backup solutions cause of the reason above stated.

I shutdown the computer and restart it but the screen stayed black. Not even Thinkpad logo at boot. The fan is working the lid are working, the keyboard too. So after trying to fix it i went on a walk while the computer was on and when I got back I heard the ubuntu noise when it start. So i try but terminal to run music and it works but the screen stay black. I tried to remove RAM, 10 times shutdown without battery or plug. Nothings worked. I cannot try without another screen yet..
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a compaq presario CQ61-420US with similar problems below, except I have a black screen, fan turns blinking lights are the same (num lock and cap lock) but they are flashing continuously every second or 2. I have tried the hard reset with the ram fix, connecting an external monitor, changing the battery, and the power adapter to no avail. I also used compressed air on the vents just in case was stuffed with dust since it will overheat and may cause problems, but nothing.
One option I can think of is purchasing a new MotherBoard, but I'm trying anything else before that.

It was working properly, but suddenly it went off and when i restarted it, there was nothing which appeared on screen, but there was a beep sound which went on until i turned my laptop off. Even the startup screen didnt appeared during this. The power button lights up, fan is running, but the screen is not coming up.
I have noticed one thing also, if i put it on for long time, so that it gains enough heat due to constatnt running and then I restart it, the screen will come. and after sometime, the screen distorts and after few seconds, the laptop screen turns black and the beep sound appears which start crying until i turn laptop off.
Screen is reddish color, and box appears with colored bars red, blue, green white. What happened and what do I do to get back to regular screen???

The video test worked fine on LCD.Flashed BIOS to A15, updated video drivers. Not sure what is still causing issue. I have also removed memory and replaced it. I am at my wits end.

My laptop is not booting and the screen is two tones of grey when I try to boot.
I was working on it and left it alone for an hour and when I came back the screen was grey and have not since been able to get it to shut down or start up.
I have an issue with my Inspiron N5010 screen, it doesn't work when switching on my laptop on Battery or AC mode. It happens a lot of times when I turn on the laptop the power button, the power indicators at the bottom turns on normally and the laptop is running without any weird sounds. But the screen is pitch black even doesn't show up anything when I concentrate on it in with a lamp or any light.
When I press the power button again even after 5 mins from the start time of being running the laptop just turn off immediately and doesn't take time to switch off as If the windows wasn't loaded!
I was resolving this problem by disconnecting the AC adapter > removing the battery > Pressing and hold the power button for 20 seconds technique.but today it doesn't work anymore, If there's anything I can do to get the screen backlight to work normally ....
My brand new Inspiron 14z remains on the starting DELL screen after boot up.
The initial windows 8 parameters have been registered properly (it seems...) and since the second requested reboot the PC does not go to windows 8. I have been suspecting a hardware problem and ran the full diagnostic (success!). There is nothing into the setup (F2) parameters which looks wrong and none of the boot options (F12) I tried have been successful... Is there a way to run a windows 8 safe mode boot or equivalent (note that I cannot go inside windows 8 top change this kind of option of course), and to move forward?
I desperate to see the someting else than this Dell Logo in the middle of the screen (forever?).
After a BSOD I opted for the Windows Startup Repair - but it never gives me a fix. This is the summary message.
