Dell Inspiron 17 R SE :: Started Booting To A Black Screen
Apr 18, 2013I have a 17 Inch Inspiron R Se that I purchased in January...it has started booting to a black screen...if I press the power button again to turn it off then back on it boots fine...it is very annoying seeing as it is almost new...I had the same issue a couple of weeks after getting it and did the computer renew thing which fixed it (until now) but I don't want to do that again as I have a ton of stuff on it now that I don't want to mess with and have to reload etc...
I tried the hard reset and it did absolutely nothing...ran the diagnostics and everything passed.

Apr 14, 2013My Dell Inspiron 1520 does not complete booting. It start booting, then the screen go black. I am currently doing is 'diagnostic test'. This also came back with no problem, but a window popped up and asked whether I want to continue to full diagnosis. I closed YES. I hope this solves the black screen problem.
Before this problem, the battery would go flat in 20-30 min when not connected to AC source.

Jun 18, 2014I'm unable to boot my Inspiron 15R SE laptop. There are no response from the laptop when I pressed the power button. No LED lights, no disk noise ! The only thing I noticed is the power cable light goes out immediately when plugged into the laptop.
I have tried taking the battery and power cable out , hold the power button for 30 seconds , place battery and power cable back then tried rebooting but laptop still won't boot...

Dec 5, 2009I've a wee problem here and I'm not sure if there's anything else that I can do with it. It's a Vostro 1700 and it passes POST fine.
Vista starts loading as evidenced by the scrolling bar, but then instead of going to a logon screen,
I just get a black screen with a moveable mouse pointer, nothing else. Hard disk activity comes to a halt.

Apr 21, 2014I have a compaq presario CQ61-420US with similar problems below, except I have a black screen, fan turns blinking lights are the same (num lock and cap lock) but they are flashing continuously every second or 2. I have tried the hard reset with the ram fix, connecting an external monitor, changing the battery, and the power adapter to no avail. I also used compressed air on the vents just in case was stuffed with dust since it will overheat and may cause problems, but nothing.
One option I can think of is purchasing a new MotherBoard, but I'm trying anything else before that.

The computer does not wake up even after I push the power button and the screen continues to be blank. The only way that I've gotten it to respond is by shutting off, unplugging, removing battery and then replacing battery and turning it back on again. I've done this in different combinations. The initial windows 8 parameters have been registered properly (it seems...) and since the second requested reboot the PC does not go to windows 8. I have been suspecting a hardware problem and ran the full diagnostic (success!). There is nothing into the setup (F2) parameters which looks wrong and none of the boot options (F12) I tried have been successful... Is there a way to run a windows 8 safe mode boot or equivalent (note that I cannot go inside windows 8 top change this kind of option of course), and to move forward?
I desperate to see the someting else than this Dell Logo in the middle of the screen (forever?).

Dec 23, 2014I've had a problem with my LCD for a while now. For around six months the screen sometimes turns black unless it is at a particular degree to the keyboard. For example, at 90 degrees there is a good chance that the screen will flicker and will mostly be black. More than 90 usually works.
Couple days ago I turned my laptop off and before it shut down left the room. When I came back after 15 minutes I heard the beeping sound. I turned the laptop off immediately. After that, every time I turn on laptop, nothing happens apart from beeping. I tried 'D' and then turn on. Also f12. Nothing changes, screen stays black. I also removed battery and pressed on turn on in order to get rid of excess charge.
