View 1 RepliesMy laptop has been freezing for a while, and it would create a distinct buzzing noise about 10-20 minutes into a game. It originally started when my motherboard was replaced for a malfunctioning video card and then when I reported this issue a technician came and replaced the motherboard again and the heat sink + fan. The issue is still there and diagnostics comes up with no problems. The only parts that haven't been replaced in my computer are the HDD, the processor and the RAM. I don't think its a problem with the HDD as using it for anything else works, so I was wondering if it was possibly a problem with the CPU.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Acer Aspire 5745g (intel i5, nvidia GT 330m, 4gb Ram) suddenly start lagging...Some Games I play (Vindictus , Dead Space 3 , Far Cry 3 ,...)
I try to bring down quality but fps doesn't fix.
I download Anti-malware (don't work).
I scan with antivirus (don't work).
I do twice format but the problem doesn't fix.
If my laptop turns on, it either freezes, BSODs, or black screens (could be anywhere from the windows loading logo to doing some work on word, etc.)
And if it doesnt turn on, well it does; the hdd light goes on (for a second), same with the battery light (the battery light is fine though), but the screen is black; i can hear hdd activity though and if i throw a cd in there, it spins properly and whatnot, but it just doesnt do anything past the blank screen.
An external monitor doesnt work, and reformatting seemed to have helped abit, but then it just got worse 2 days ago; I can't get past the black screen after I turn it on.
I'm 99% sure its a hardware problem, and I'd be willing to replace whatever it is if I knew what it was, but I dont know if it's the hdd, or the ram, or the video card, etc.
I've also taken the laptop apart; so reseating the ram and hdd doesnt work.
i have a problem with my 2 year old vaio sz. Since some weeks, screen turns black in irrregular intervals. The system is still available, but i can't see anything on the screen. The only solution is to push the power button an switch to standby mode. Afer pushing the power button again, the system comes up again and the screen turns on! The problem only occured in battery mode.
I tried nearly everything to fix the problem. I reinstalled Windows XP, tried different power management settings... nothing worked.
I would like to send it in for repairs. The problem I am experiencing is as follows: suddenly shut off, does not turn on, the power supply LED light (on the AC adapter) shuts off the moment I plug it into the computer.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've had my Dell Inspiron 15R SE for a year and 3 months. Unfortunately, over the last couple of months the laptop has been getting incredibly hot when playing games to point where it has cut out a couple of times.
This is playing games on the lowest spec/graphics quality and after setting high performance in the CCC to enable the graphics card. For example, my wife can play Skyrim on her laptop which is a much lower spec than my Inspiron with clear frame rates and it stays cool. Doing so on my Inspiron results in overheating quickly on the same quality settings.
I've tried using compressed air on the vents of my laptop in case it's a dust issue, but not sure if I should get into taking it to bits to check the fans more thoroughly.
However, I'm not sure if it actually is a fan issue or a hardware issue. I've run optimisers to make sure my system is running efficiently too. I currently have Windows 8.1.
i have had a dell inspiron laptop m5030 for over a couple years now with no problems. I have never had any major problems with this computer ever. always loved my dell. now i go to turn it on. and suddenly instead of the cute dell screen i got a black screen of death and the 7 beeps of death that woke my service dog up. now this would not be such a issue if this computer was not my actual disabled livelihood. it is no longer under warranty and of course after searching the internet it appears that dell knows of this issue with it. but it still does not see fit to recall them or replace them. of course they will charge you to turn it in and fix it temporary.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have had my 17R SE for almost half a year, I am not sure when it started but recently when I play games such as Crysis 3, the GPU temperature will exceed 90 degrees Celsius. This is not normal. I am pretty sure that the fan is not working at its maximum potential as when I tried to resolve the problem by flashing to the newest BIOS, the fan noise was significantly louder than it was when I was playing games. I have also tried the system diagnosis and it said everything is working fine.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo i bought a Dell Inspiron n5050 5 months ago . The first day i got it i went to play games with my friends and stayed at least 10 hours playing.
The next day it went slower , in fact in minecraft the first day it was running on 120fps and on the next day about 70 - 60.
also , the laptop kept on getting blue screens and black screens and sometimes didnt turn on.
I still play games like League of Legends and Minecraft with friends and now the fps suddenly dropped . in minecraft 70 - 60 to 20 - 30 and in league of legends constant lag when someone uses a skill / attacks.
Whenever i go to sleep i just close my laptop , i dont shut it down and also i run at least 6 hours a day. Ive also heard that it might be the cooling fan that has dust in it, however im not sure. I want it to run smooth again . Ive reseted to factory setting twice and its still running slow.
My Inspiron 15R 5521 encountered a problem soon after a bought.
The spec of my laptop is:
- intel i7 dual core 3537U-2Ghz
- win 8 64-bit
- AMD Radeon HD 8730M
- screen resolution 1920x1080
The problem is:
The screen suddenly went black when I was watching tutorial about using Windows 8 from the Start Screen, which immediately closed the video, and a few seconds later the start screen appear. When the start screen appear, the size of the tiles and the fonts became smaller then before the black out happened. Then a warning box appear saying "No AMD graphic driver is installed, or the AMD driver is not functioning properly. Please install the AMD driver appropriate for your AMD hardware".
over the past week has only charged intermittently. Sometimes I needed to just twist or nudge the power cord in order for the battery to power up. Other times the message stating that I needed a dell adaptor came up.Yesterday the laptop stopped charging and the battery has reduced to zero. It will not recharge and is therefore no use to me as it needs to be constantly plugged in.I have tried a different power supply (same type) and that will not charge the laptop either. Both chargers are the official Dell ones that were supplied with the machine. I suspect it is not the battery either as it took me over an hour to get any power into the machine. Of course it is out of warranty at almost two years old but has been a great machine and I'm loathe to just scrap it.I have another Dell laptop ( a Vostro) which has suffered exactly the same fate and stopped charging after less than 2 years.Three questions:
1) Am I just unlucky that the same fault has developed in two machines, or is it more common problem in Dell laptops?
2) Is there a way to have it repaired by Dell? I realise i would have to pay, but there menus keep sending me back to buy an extended warranty which I am not eligible for.3) If Dell won't repair (or the cost is prohibitive), Is it possible to disassemble the machine and replace the socket that the power supply plugs into, or would it have to be the whole motherboard that is replaced?
I bought a DELL Inspiron 3542 4th generation recently. there is something wrong with the battery i charged it 100% i unplugged the charger after about an hour and a half the battery was 55% and suddenly it shows a message that my battery is only 7% remaining! I don't understand why that happened my laptop still has 105 days warranty.

View 1 Replies View RelatedEver since I installed Windows 7, every time I try running a game that I could play just fine before installing Windows 7, such as Rome: Total War, my computer crashes when I actually start playing the game (as in I can see the map and I tell one dude to move and then the game crashes).
When I say it crashes I mean that the screen turns black but the computer is still running and the fan is on and whatnot, but I am unable to make the computer do anything and I have no choice but to hold down the power button to manually shut off the computer.
I am using Dell Inspiron n5010 recent days my laptop turn's off itself when it reaches 45% of battery ....
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've taken apart from 1730 and made sure there was no dust and its quite clean, its sitting up at the back so air is flowing through under it but when playing games all on low settings (playing demigod)
it still slows down when a lot is happening on screen, and the laptop gets extremely hot - even some parts are too hot to touch.
I seem to be getting MS/Ping lags when playing on my Alienware M14x. Every now and then I get random spikes. It stays good for a couple of seconds and then it suddenly it spikes. I have tried running different games and I still get same problems. I uninstalled my WiFi driver and still same problem. I don't know what step I should take next, It is also not overheating, I manage to keep it at a steadt 50. I will now post some of my specs.

about the last week now whenever I play games such as WOW and Far Cry 3 It will start off fine and about a minute - 2 minutes later the game will start to slow down right to less than 1 frame a second I also get keyboard and mouse latency when this happens, and when that starts happening my computer will unexpectedly shutdown.I have the latest driver for my GPU, My computer doesn't feel hot at all when this happens which makes me think it might not be an overheating issue and it only happens when playing games, I can do video editing and rendering just fine along with all the basic computer uses such as file transfer, watching videos, listening to music and browsing without any problem. I pulled my Laptop apart thinking it might just be dust build-up and their was a fair bit of dust clogging up the air vent along the side of my laptop, I cleaned that all out and the air started flowing better from the vent. Thinking that was the problem I turned my laptop back on and it done the same thing while playing games.I'm not sure how to tell If it is a heat issue because there is no separate fan for the cpu or gpu and I can't get temperature readings because my computer slows down too much and then shuts down.Computer Specs:Dell XPS 17 L702x

Today I was using my laptop (Acer Aspire 5742G) normally and then suddenly my screen freezes and turns off. The picture at that moment when the screen froze was covered with green horizontal lines and some small green squares and then the screen switched off while the laptop continued to operate normally.
I tried to restart my laptop, but the screen does not turn on, and looks like laptop is working normally because I can hear the windows login sound (led indicators for WIFI and read data from the HDD are working). I tried to connect the laptop and TV via an HDMI cable, but the TV does not get any picture.
3 different Latitude D810's that we wanted to add some life to. So we purchased 3 SSD drives,
two 64GB IDE/ATA Transcend MLC based units and 1 RiData 16GB SLC IDE/ATAunit. (Yes, the SLC is far faster with writing than the MLC drives).
Using our standard image, everything works fine. Except when removing the power cord from the back of the unit, it goes to a black screen, any hard drive (SSD drive) activity ceases.
When doing the same thing with a traditional hard drive, the screens blip black for a brief moment, but the computer keeps running as expected.
in my laptop acer aspire 6930 g I use Speed Fan programe and I find that temperature of processor intel core 2 duo 2Ghz reach to 70 C and video card nvidia 9600m GT reach to 70 to 72 C and hard disk temp reach to 55 to 60 C during playing games like need for speed undercover and Crysis and many and many times game stop working and laptop hang then game close by itself or I close it using task manager and I do not know if this problem occur due to high temperature of laptop devices or duo to something else and u should knowthat these games work well for some time before hanging problem occur..
and temperature of my laptop devices during normal use is:
processors 43 C to 52 C and video card 57 C to 60 C and hard disk 42 C to 50 C
So is previous temperature normal in this laptop and what I can do to solve this problem?
i play facebook flash games like restaurant city, pet society..etc in battery mode, cpu usage will be around 70% and the games very lag, this problem occurs in both balanced & power saving battery mode ...
View 3 Replies View RelatedI seem to be experiencing a common issue with the L502X Dell computer, in which it freezes when playing games on any graphics settings. My computer freezes and a loud buzzing noise happens and the last playing noise is looped, and the only way to stop the noise is through a hard reset. I'm pretty sure that the motherboard is the problem as many others on the forum have had almost identical problems which were solved with a motherboard replacement. I have updated all my drivers/BIOS and even done a complete system reformat, but the freezing still occurs.
I have even had my laptop on a cooling pad to try and minimize the heat it produces but the parts have still failed.
I bought my laptop around a year and a half ago, I've been trying to fix this problem for months now. While playing pretty much all video games, whether through Steam, CD or through downloading, at random times while playing my computer will freeze, the sound will start to bug out and there is nothing I can do but manually shut down my computer. My warranty has expired and I am not sure what to do. I've done some reading about under-clocking my CPU and I have no interest in doing that. I keep my drivers and everything up to date so I'm pretty damn sure that this is not a software problem. I want to avoid replacing my motherboard and I will only do so if there is no other option. I am thinking of replacing my hard drive with an SSD
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an Aspire 1694wlmi with a 2GHz Pentium M, a Mobility Radeon x700 (256mb) and 1GB of ram. I run Win XP with SP3. I didn't do anything to the comp apart from removing its crappy built-in wlan adapter.
The issue is this: whenever I play any game (even as undemanding as UT99) the laptop just shuts down without warning. This even happens playing 8ballclub's billiards sim in window mode for instance.
The whole thing started happening occasionally a long time ago (with Rome Total War at first). Right now, it happens always and very very soon after starting the game (i.e. less than a minute).
I have noticed that the CPU usage jumps to 100% as soon as I launch the game and stays there until shutdown (but this is supposed to be normal, yes?). Also, I tried stopping all non-essential processes (of which there weren't that many to begin with) and the CPU usage is around 0-4% when idle.
I have also opened the lid and look for dust - none there (neither around the processor nor around the graphics adapter)
I tried updating the ATI drivers, but since the Radeon is included in all Acers, it won't let you update the drivers - and Acer doesn't provide updates either. I have installed the Catalyst Control Center...
People have associated such problems with viruses. I use Avast which finds no viruses (I'm installing Kaspersky next).
It would be good to know what games work how well with what machines. That might save us some headaches and time to know what the limitations are
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Vaio crashes while playing 3D intensive games like, L4D, Crysis, Crysis Warhead, CoD WaW. After playing about 1~2 hours or so.
No other application causing this, so I suspect the GPU. Here are the details:
Symptoms:Screen quickly fades out to either dark grayish black, or white. Some scratchy sounds on the background.Barely visible waves moving upside-down on the screen (like when you cannot get a clear signal on TV).2 or 3 vertical thin noises on the screen.Cannot exit to desktop, have to cold boot the PC

Other info:GPU temp before gaming: 45~50, during gaming: 68~75 CelsiusCPU temp before gaming: 35~40, during gaming: 65~70 CelsiusPlaying with high settings (e.g. "Gamer" in Crysis) with no performance issues whatsoever until crash. From what I gathered, those temps are not way too high, and the PC should hold well.
