I bought a DELL Inspiron 3542 4th generation recently. there is something wrong with the battery i charged it 100% i unplugged the charger after about an hour and a half the battery was 55% and suddenly it shows a message that my battery is only 7% remaining! I don't understand why that happened my laptop still has 105 days warranty.

Please turn off your computer and try again when the unit is back to the operational temperature"...This message shows up at bios check and only option is for me to press f2 to enter bios, which doesn't give me any other option. This occurs very frequently, and I never saw such an issue with any other laptop I have owned.
To test, I removed the battery and ran the PC plugged in -- and it worked just fine. Is there a way to prevent this message from showing up and allowing me to use the laptop?
I have some problems with a new Dell laptop (bought a few weeks ago). The model is Dell 15.6'' Inspiron 3542. I've searched on google and on other forums but i didn't found something useful for my problem.
The problem is that when i turn on the laptop, running only on battery, after starting the windows, it freezes. If i turn on the laptop, with the AC adaptor plugged in, it works perfectly. But if i remove the AC adaptor, the laptop freezes after a while. If i turn off the laptop without the AC adaptor plugged in, the screen goes black but the laptop dosen't shut down completly, it freezes. And every time it freezes, the only way to shut down the laptop is to press for 5 sec the start button. I can use the laptop on battery mode, only on "Safe Mode" option of Windows.
I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits, and i installed all the drivers from Dell support site.
I'm running i7 inspiron with windows 7 64 bit.
When i start computer on battery and then connect external power it freezes.
I can't click anything.
I have all the drivers installed.
when playing games on battery suddenly screens turns black and i have to restart my laptop.

There are drivers that need updating since I installed them on the 19.12.2014 from the dell website, but the program says "Your system is up to date", even after manual scan. What's strange is that the latest Dell Update version on the website is 1.3, but the program updates itself to 1.4.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI bought an Inspiron 15 3542 laptop and it works fine; the Power button has an LED which never lights up; also, the system LED at the right bottom (front of the laptop), does not light up all the time. It only lights up in white when I start the laptop from sleep or shutdown. Is this a design flaw or is something wrong with the laptop? I have never seen the Power button LED light up, which is annoying since the keyboard area is always dark without any lights; I have a HP Pavilion which has many blue LEDs on the surface and front of the laptop, so I find it weird not to have any lights on the Dell.

Now touch pad is not working and Wifi adapter is also not working. I swear its only 7 hours when i purchased this laptop. and facing these issues.
I also tried the drivers from dell website. downloaded and installed. my win8 is 64 bits.
How to resolve it. is this issue is under warranty?

Bluetooth is not at all working on my dell inspiron 15 3000 series 3542 after i installed win 8. I downloaded several Bluetooth drivers from dell, but nothing seems to work. But from week whenever i play a game it shuts down in 10 min .Later i tried few suggestions from dell forums on overheating and found that the laptop runs fine on battery and as soon i plug in the adapter it turns off in 10 min .I checked if it is a overheating problem and found the cores temp at around 60 degrees celsius when idle and it crosses 100 when i play games plugged in and around 95 degrees on battery.
I then checked if its due to dust but everything is clean and i use a cooling pad so this is quite abnormal.
I have all the updated drivers and bios, fresh installed windows again, so what to do...
