View 3 RepliesI have this problem of wireless in my 15R 5537. I upgraded from windows 8 to 8.1 recently only to know that wireless driver was incompatible. I then visited the Dell support site and downloaded the wireless driver for the model i'm using and the OS installed. But when I tried to install it I got "Activate Bluetooth using wireless switch" error message.
I didn't know what wireless switch was since (fn+f2) was not working either. I came to know that there is wireless option in bios menu from various posts. But there was none in my laptop under "Advance" option in bios menu. I run bios version A08.
I tried to reinstall old windows 8(with a different CD this time) but wireless didn't work in this one either...
i have windows 7 64bit and can't get Bluetooth to find any device have updated driver and check every thing and it's still not work, when run dell diagnostic it's say all good but can't find my phone or any other device.

After deactivating bluetooth either with the wifi-switch or clicking the bluetooth icon, it cannot be activated again by either of this two functions.If the BIOS is set to switch bluetooth with the wifi-switch, I could not find a way to activate it again.If the BIOS is set to not switch bluetooth with the wifi-switch, after rebooting the pc bluetooth works again.In any case the bluetooth LED is always off.
I tried Dell online pc diagnostic. It downloads and starts "DellPCDiagnostics.exe", I can see it is running in task manager.But the web page complains: Diagnostic launcher was downloaded but could not be started ...

when i click on the wireless icon on the bottom right of my screen, it says WLAN is ON, but Bluetooth is Disabled,it says to turn it on i must do the following

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased Dell Inspiron 3542 (Nov14), and I'm getting a battery error when my house is a bit cold."Your battery is temporarily disabled. Please turn off your computer and try again when the unit is back to the operational temperature"...This message shows up at bios check and only option is for me to press f2 to enter bios, which doesn't give me any other option. This occurs very frequently, and I never saw such an issue with any other laptop I have owned.
To test, I removed the battery and ran the PC plugged in -- and it worked just fine. Is there a way to prevent this message from showing up and allowing me to use the laptop?

I want to install a program that automatically installs the drivers from the dell website. I thought that Dell Update was such program, but it doesn't work. There are drivers that need updating since I installed them on the 19.12.2014 from the dell website, but the program says "Your system is up to date", even after manual scan. What's strange is that the latest Dell Update version on the website is 1.3, but the program updates itself to 1.4.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI bought an Inspiron 15 3542 laptop and it works fine; the Power button has an LED which never lights up; also, the system LED at the right bottom (front of the laptop), does not light up all the time. It only lights up in white when I start the laptop from sleep or shutdown. Is this a design flaw or is something wrong with the laptop? I have never seen the Power button LED light up, which is annoying since the keyboard area is always dark without any lights; I have a HP Pavilion which has many blue LEDs on the surface and front of the laptop, so I find it weird not to have any lights on the Dell.

My friend got the same laptop model .Can i use his factory restore disk to restore mine.
Once I turn off the wireless switch, I can't seem to turn wireless capability back on without rebooting the machine. The wifi LED remains unlighted and 'diagnose and repair' attempts do not work (telling me to turn wireless capability on by flicking the switch, which is already in the ON position).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have some problems with a new Dell laptop (bought a few weeks ago). The model is Dell 15.6'' Inspiron 3542. I've searched on google and on other forums but i didn't found something useful for my problem.
The problem is that when i turn on the laptop, running only on battery, after starting the windows, it freezes. If i turn on the laptop, with the AC adaptor plugged in, it works perfectly. But if i remove the AC adaptor, the laptop freezes after a while. If i turn off the laptop without the AC adaptor plugged in, the screen goes black but the laptop dosen't shut down completly, it freezes. And every time it freezes, the only way to shut down the laptop is to press for 5 sec the start button. I can use the laptop on battery mode, only on "Safe Mode" option of Windows.
