Dell Inspiron 3542 :: Windows 8.1 - Short Beep While Working On Laptop
Jan 30, 2015
i have just purchased Dell inspiron 3542 Core i7 -8Gb ram-1Tb hard-Nvidia card ..
OS : Win8.1
While using my laptop, i hear a short beep .(NOT AT START UP) .. i don't know from does this sound come from , and i need to know whats wrong with this laptop urgently ..
I just purchased a new Dell inspiron 3542. it came with a preinstalled Ubuntu. touch pad was working fine. I deleted Ubuntu and installed Windows 8. Now touch pad is not working and Wifi adapter is also not working. I swear its only 7 hours when i purchased this laptop. and facing these issues.
I also tried the drivers from dell website. downloaded and installed. my win8 is 64 bits.
How to resolve it. is this issue is under warranty?
I recently went to turn on my computer, Dell's Inspiron M5010, today and was surprised to hear it beeping. After I got out from behind cover, i logged onto another computer in the house. Counting 7 short beeps, I have come to learn that there must be an issue with with either the processor or the motherboard. This is the point where I am at currently. I would like to know the next step to take from this point, whether buying a simple new part would do the trick, or if it is time to turn it into a scrap heap and get something new. I suppose there could be some further testing whether it is either the processor or the motherboard with the issue.
I have some problems with a new Dell laptop (bought a few weeks ago). The model is Dell 15.6'' Inspiron 3542. I've searched on google and on other forums but i didn't found something useful for my problem.
The problem is that when i turn on the laptop, running only on battery, after starting the windows, it freezes. If i turn on the laptop, with the AC adaptor plugged in, it works perfectly. But if i remove the AC adaptor, the laptop freezes after a while. If i turn off the laptop without the AC adaptor plugged in, the screen goes black but the laptop dosen't shut down completly, it freezes. And every time it freezes, the only way to shut down the laptop is to press for 5 sec the start button. I can use the laptop on battery mode, only on "Safe Mode" option of Windows.
I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits, and i installed all the drivers from Dell support site.
I have a dell Inspiron and when i press the power button, my laptop sounds a high pitched beeping noice 8 times in a sequence with the screen black and doesn't turn on....what should i do...
I bought an Inspiron 15 3542 laptop and it works fine; the Power button has an LED which never lights up; also, the system LED at the right bottom (front of the laptop), does not light up all the time. It only lights up in white when I start the laptop from sleep or shutdown. Is this a design flaw or is something wrong with the laptop? I have never seen the Power button LED light up, which is annoying since the keyboard area is always dark without any lights; I have a HP Pavilion which has many blue LEDs on the surface and front of the laptop, so I find it weird not to have any lights on the Dell.
i have windows 7 64bit and can't get Bluetooth to find any device have updated driver and check every thing and it's still not work, when run dell diagnostic it's say all good but can't find my phone or any other device.
Bluetooth is not at all working on my dell inspiron 15 3000 series 3542 after i installed win 8. I downloaded several Bluetooth drivers from dell, but nothing seems to work. I Have a Bluetooth icon on my task bar but when i connect device it says"no device found."I have run many tests but no luck so provide me with correct Bluetooth software and installation instructions.

Whenever i turn on my laptop(DELL ispiron N5110), my system gives 5 continuous beeps thrice, i don't know the reason and what kind of failure it may be indicating. Few days back it was showing blank screen for a short duration when i turned it on.
I bought a DELL Inspiron 3542 4th generation recently. there is something wrong with the battery i charged it 100% i unplugged the charger after about an hour and a half the battery was 55% and suddenly it shows a message that my battery is only 7% remaining! I don't understand why that happened my laptop still has 105 days warranty.
we just got a new Dell 15 3542 for our son for school..
1) Which is the correct size SSD for his laptop? 7mm, 9mm, etc 2) Which Dell drivers would I need to load onto the install after installing Win 7? Audio, video, network drivers?
I recently purchased Dell Inspiron 3542 (Nov14), and I'm getting a battery error when my house is a bit cold."Your battery is temporarily disabled. Please turn off your computer and try again when the unit is back to the operational temperature"...This message shows up at bios check and only option is for me to press f2 to enter bios, which doesn't give me any other option. This occurs very frequently, and I never saw such an issue with any other laptop I have owned.
To test, I removed the battery and ran the PC plugged in -- and it worked just fine. Is there a way to prevent this message from showing up and allowing me to use the laptop?
So last night my laptop was running fine on battery power, but then it was running low, so I plugged in the power cord. Nothing happened. Since the adapter at the laptop end was falling apart and duct-taped anyways, I figured it was just conking out, but then I saw the indicator light on the power brick was off.
With some experimentation, I found that if I moved it to a different outlet, the light would come back on, but if I plugged it into my laptop, the light would die, and I would have to again move it to a different outlet (the same one as first would work fine) to get the indicator light back on. It works in other Dell laptops. Other adapters do the exact same thing.
So I'm guessing there's a problem with my laptop wiring that's causing a short or something. (Apologies for my shallow electrical knowledge.) But it was working last night on battery power. Until the battery died completely this morning, it would power up. So it's not an electrical problem that kills the laptop.
I've got a DELL Inspiron 15 3542 . with Win7 64 bitsi downloaded all drivers from this sitewhen i try to install Bluetooth driver (Network_Driver_NT9P6_WN_6.30.223.99_A00) it shows an error message "Activate Bluetooth Using Wireless Switch" . i can't find a solution ....
I want to install a program that automatically installs the drivers from the dell website. I thought that Dell Update was such program, but it doesn't work. There are drivers that need updating since I installed them on the 19.12.2014 from the dell website, but the program says "Your system is up to date", even after manual scan. What's strange is that the latest Dell Update version on the website is 1.3, but the program updates itself to 1.4.
I just run diagnosis in my laptop and got the following error.
Error code 2000-0142 Validation 55896 Hard Drive 0-S/N WD-WXH1A8148175 Status=7 PSA pre-boot system assessement Hard drive: 0-DST short test Test results: fail Error code : 2000-0142 Validation : 55896 Msg: hard Drive 0-S/N WD-WXH1a8148175
After returning from a trip, I tried to turn on my desktop and it only gives two short beeps. The light below the power cord is green. (At first it gave 4 short beeps, then after I took out the RAM and reinstalled, now I only get 2 short beeps.) I have tried installing only 1 of the 3 RAM cards in each slot, but each time I get the 2 short beeps.
While starting the notebook, it beeps, (short toned but continuous) and pressing Alt / Ctrl or function keys stops that noise , then system getting booted. In the login screen, in the password field automatically populated with "*" and entering correct password get into a windows.
Every key is working except 'p' and this sometimes works. But to my wonder, this key automatically getting typed in text areas frequently. it continuously prints that key whenever focus goes on the text area.
But when i diagonosed entire system it shows no problem with fan and at that time it is working OK..but after s/m boot it is not working.i took laptop on 2011 august(inspiron 15 R(..now my charger died and problem start preaching after 1 year.
I have a Dell Inspiron N5110. The Warranty ran out in July of last year so for some reason I cannot email technical support directly.I ran the Dell PC Diagnostic test earlier today, all of which passed with the exception of the SMART Short Self Test which failed. Apparently my hard drive is "operating outside of normal parameters and should be replaced". I tried this twice, once with the Dell diagnostic software installed on my laptop and once using the downloadable diagnostics from the Dell website, both had the same outcome.
I then tried the system diagnostics accessed via the F12 key on system startup. Again all passed but the hard drive test which would not run and provided the following message:
Error code 2000-0142 validation 12985 Msg Hard Drive 0 s/n (omitted), self test unsuccessful status = 7
I have read around on the support forums that the next step to try is removing and replacing the hard drive then re-running the diagnostics. If this does not solve the issue and I have to replace the hard drive does that mean I will need to buy a new copy of windows to install on the hard drive, as my laptop came with no disks? I have backed up all my important files but obviously not any programs.
what my next steps would be and what the process is should I have to replace my hard drive? I am a "noob" in this area and don't want to spending uneccassary money on parts that don't need to be replaced or buying software I don't need to replace as it is already available if you see what I mean?
