After a BSOD I opted for the Windows Startup Repair - but it never gives me a fix. This is the summary message.

My brand new Inspiron 14z remains on the starting DELL screen after boot up.
The initial windows 8 parameters have been registered properly (it seems...) and since the second requested reboot the PC does not go to windows 8. I have been suspecting a hardware problem and ran the full diagnostic (success!). There is nothing into the setup (F2) parameters which looks wrong and none of the boot options (F12) I tried have been successful... Is there a way to run a windows 8 safe mode boot or equivalent (note that I cannot go inside windows 8 top change this kind of option of course), and to move forward?
I desperate to see the someting else than this Dell Logo in the middle of the screen (forever?).
I'm writing on behalf of a friend who has an Acer Travelmate 4500 series laptop...4502LMi to be precise.

Okay here's the deal:
press power > black screen with safe mode options appears > select Start Windows Normally >Then black Windows XP logo startup screen
appears > then screen appears saying checking disk for consistency, volume Serial Number is 2629-16F0 > after check disk completes then Acer screen appears > Then screen saying " To begin, click your username" > then click username and then desktop appears > 5 seconds later blue screen appears saying :
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer

Then computer restarts and the blue screen appears again.... then restarts and then Black safe mode screen appears again.... then windows logo screen then restarts etc. etc. etc.
When trying to boot in safe mode screen says:

I already ran:
- Intel® Driver Update Utility
-Repair-install the  operating system (Original Dell Image) for 2times
- All windows updates done
         - Update the DELL BIOS version
        - Ran DELL PC Check Up – Hardware Diagnostics
-Â Â Ran anti-virus, anti-malware, anti-spyware, etc.
-Â Ran HW monitor to check temperatures, all normal
-Â Ran Advanced SystemCare 6 for windows optimization and registry fix.
… and the the blue screens didn’t stop!!!. Usually I get one for day.
Normally I get this blue screens even when laptop is notbeing run any program. By the details look that is related with an app. But theolder critical events sometimes don’t give so many details.
This laptop a bad historical. In less than 3 months alreadyhad two times the hard-disk replaced.
Just bought the new Inspiron 7537 with NVIDIA graphics card. The issue is when I try to wake it up after the laptop in a sleep mode, only the keyboard is light but the screen is black. I have to press the power button to shut it down.

However each time after installing the update from the store and rebooting, I am greeted with the message that the update could not be installed, error number 0xC1900101 - 0x20017. I have installed all Windows Updates and also updated all Intel and NVidia divers. Uninstalling everything preinstalled by Dell did not change the result either. What else could I try?Â

My girlfriends Inspiron 1545 WINDOWS 7 got the blue screen message.
After trying to restore to a prior date it is now stuck in a repair loop.
I have installed windows 8 on my dell inpiron n5110 but as it has a lot of bugs, i have uninstalled Windows 8. Now i am reinstalling Windows 7 in it but it is not working properly.
I tried installing Windows 7 several times but each time when Windows 7 installation finishes, system restarts and shows following blue screen.

Ever since I updated my software from windows 8 to windows 8.1 I lost all the features displayed on the windows mobility center related to the cutomized section from dell. I had to download the drivers to get the gestures configurations for the mousepad, the same happened with the audio drivers I downloaded both from the dell site, but i can't control the usage of the backlight of my keyboard, It turns off like every 20 seconds when there's no activity, and I want to configure it differently and get back the cutomized section of the mobility center,Â

I have a 17 Inch Inspiron R Se that I purchased in January...it has started booting to a black screen...if I press the power button again to turn it off then back on it boots fine...it is very annoying seeing as it is almost new...I had the same issue a couple of weeks after getting it and did the computer renew thing which fixed it (until now) but I don't want to do that again as I have a ton of stuff on it now that I don't want to mess with and have to reload etc...
I tried the hard reset and it did absolutely nothing...ran the diagnostics and everything passed. Â
When I press power button , my laptop show odd screen and and strip on the screen.it also start doing blue
screen dumping and do not transfers boot to OS at all , after all this computer goes auto shutdown.
My new inspiron 15 has an issue with the touchpad - the two finger scroll functionality breaks at irregular but very frequent intervals.
I'd spend 15 minutes on the computer and I'd suddenly not be able to use any multi-finger gestures on the touchpad, specifically the two-finger scroll. I've noticed that at that point, pinch zoom doesn't work either which leads me to believe it's a general issue with multi-finger gestures.
Restarting the computer always fixes it.
I can't tell if this is a hardware defect or a software issue.I've reinstalled the latest touchpad drivers from dell but it has made no difference.
My laptop is not booting and the screen is two tones of grey when I try to boot.
I was working on it and left it alone for an hour and when I came back the screen was grey and have not since been able to get it to shut down or start up.
My Dell Inspiron 1520 does not complete booting. It start booting, then the screen go black. I am currently doing is 'diagnostic test'. This also came back with no problem, but a window popped up and asked whether I want to continue to full diagnosis. I closed YES. I hope this solves the black screen problem.
Before this problem, the battery would go flat in 20-30 min when not connected to AC source.

View 1 Replies View RelatedFor the past several days, when I've first opened my laptop there is only a blank screen. The computer does not wake up even after I push the power button and the screen continues to be blank. The only way that I've gotten it to respond is by shutting off, unplugging, removing battery and then replacing battery and turning it back on again. I've done this in different combinations. Do I need a new battery or is something else wrong?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a month-old dell inspiron 5323 13z running windows 8 that stopped booting yesterday. I had a problem with booting since I got the laptop, namely the boot always stopped and had to press ctr+salt+del to continue the boot process. Dell support recommended the usual things: updating the bios, the OS, resetting the system to factory settings with no effect. Finally, I have decided I can leave this minor annoyance until know when it stopped booting at all after hybernating the system (there was no problem with hybernate before this incident).
So, it displays the dell logo for a short time when powering up, then the screen goes blank but not completely black. After pressing some keys like space a text  'f12 options' is printed in the lower right corner and en empty horizontal bar may appear. Then typing ctrl+alt+del or some random keys the boot may continue and at this point it may be possible to enter the boot menu by pressing f12. So I can change the boot option to uefi or legacy, but neither works. There is no option to boot from USB or anything else (no DVD drive anyway!). So I cannot even try to boot a linux live CD. However, i remember that these options existed before before in the boot order or priority list which is empty now. I can run the pre-boot diagnostics from the boot menu, but it does not find any problem.

I tried to install WINDOWS 7 32/64 Bit but i get blue screen in the end of installation.
I've had my XPS 17 for a week and have run into problems. Initially, I had no problems but two days after owning the machine, picked up the first: I opened up the laptop lid and was met by a message, the gist of which was 'Windows has recovered from a blue screen error' . I rebooted and put that message in my 'lets wait and see if that happens again' memory bank.
Things went well after that until I tried installing and using a game, which would have been the first time I'd used my GT 555M graphics card in anger. Installation went well but after starting the game, the screen started flickering, messages started appearing in the bottom right hand corner of the screen saying 'graphics has malfunctioned but recovered', or something to that effect, then the laptop crashed.
I tried updating drivers (I'm 100% sure they were compatible with my card) and this made my laptop even more unstable, throwing freeze after freeze, blue screen after blue screen and refusal to boot or shut down at me.
I decided to start from scratch and did a complete factory settings restore and upon first switch on (the laptop does it's 'setting up for first use' routine) was met with a blue screen error. The error details were as follows:

The laptop then rebooted itself and seemed to run just fine. I checked the device manager and it appears windows has shut down my GT 555M card as it was reporting problems.
I ran Dell diagnostics prior to the full factory restore and beside the fact it didn't pick up the GT 555M (it did test the Intel HD3000 and that was fine), it said all was fine.
I have just rerun the diagnostics after the restore and it seems the DVD drive is now having issues too:
OPU Test - not supported
Spindle Test - not supported
Tray Out Test - not supported

I have been getting the dreaded blue screen every couple of days for the last few months but since last week I keep getting it every 15 minutes ! My lapotp is 4 years old so I guess I cannot drag it anymore and have to think about a replacement hard drive or a new laptop.
So which one is the best option. I dont want to shell out the extra dough on the new one so was wondering if its worth buying a new HD and upgrading the RAM and keep working on the old one. I just use it for internet, word processing and Photoshop.

I have a Dell Inspiron N4110 laptop, 64-bit operating system using Windows 7. Today, twice actually, it turned off with a blue screen appearing that said it detected a problem. I am worried there might be something wrong with my hard drive. And I know I should definitely back up my files. I am not very experienced with how to do this except I know I should put it in safe mode. I have a blank CD also.
