I have a Dell Inspiron N4110 laptop, 64-bit operating system using Windows 7. Today, twice actually, it turned off with a blue screen appearing that said it detected a problem. I am worried there might be something wrong with my hard drive. And I know I should definitely back up my files. I am not very experienced with how to do this except I know I should put it in safe mode. I have a blank CD also.
View 2 RepliesJust received a y410p from ups, no visible box damage but when turned on it goes to an unclear blue screen and does nothing. It sometimes turns on and off repeatedly without getting anywhere. The OKR button gets stuck in when pushed and does nothing but repeatedly turning on and off the laptop. Spoke to lenovo and they are sending me a recovery disk, (not overnight mind you, but 3 day delivery, what great customer service that is). I have serious doubts that the recovery disk will do anything. What are my remedies?

So I installed a new canon printer today, updated ilife 08 to ilife 09(I discovered that the ilife that preinstalled was 08 and the disk that came with macbook was ilife 09, suprise ), and was about to do some software update.
After the software update program checked that there were 6 new updates, it then freeze, and result in slowing other softwares. Then I figured out there is a force quit in apple menu, so I used it and restarted the system. But after the screen turned into blue, it wouldn't respond any more. So I stared at the blue screen for about a minute, and realized that Mac does crash and has blue screen
After anther one minute of waiting, I pushed down the power button and forced the computer to shut down( something I learned from my old Fujitsu laptop, it is one tough laptop, and it lasts for over 8 years already,and still running).
After the computer was restarted, I launched upgrade again, and this time nothing happened. Then I figured out there is something called disk utility that I can use to check the disk, and after the disk permission check, it came back with many permission changes for the canon printer program and some other programs, so I repaired them.
I just bought my laptop today, it has a i7-4500 processor with windows 8.1... While i was installing norton the screen turned blue but it was ok after a few minutes. But the screen turned blue again, and my task manager stopped responsing. It returned to normal after i re-signed in. Now it just turns blue for a few seconds occasionally and goes back to my desktop screen with all my shortcuts moved to the centre and my background removed.
I am not sure if this is normal, haven't used windows 8 before.
Dell inspiron m301z beeps 4 times on start-up with nothing appearing on the screen, noise only stops when laptop is turned off.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I turn the laptop on it gets to the Dell logo screen then screen goes black with a cursor in top left corner but then it restarts again.Regardless if the F2 or F12 keys are selected or not, the systems restarts again. This cycle continues indefinately until I turn it off.
I have replaced the memory stick (brand new), the hard drive (brand new), the motherboard (used from ebay), and the processor (used from ebay) and still the same thing. I have tried it without the cd drive installed and same thing. I have tried it without the battery installed but with the power supply and same thing. I have tried turning it on with the windows disk in the cd rom drive and same thing.
i just bought hp dv8t quad laptop recently. the first time i turned on, treble bar (blue horizontal bar to adust treble that is supposed to appear only when i touch that touch tone above keyboard) came up on middle of screen intermittently. everytime i run other application, this bar would come up and stops other application. i spent over 1 hr with hp tech to fix it. now everytime i turn on, this blue bar still comes up but after i adjust treble via tone control above keyboard, it disappears. tech says there is no hardware defect, but i am wondering if others are like this.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOn my old XPS, when the screen turned off, the keyboard backlight would turn off with it automatically. My new Inspiron 17 does not do this, and I can't find anything that seems to control the behavior. Is there a way to do this?
Alternately, is there a software solution to control the keyboard backlight?
Got an Inspiron n5050 in December 2011 and it worked fine until it decided to shut down and I manually turned it back on and it stopped at the screen showing the patents and won't progress past that, I've tried manually force starting from hard drive and also doing a diagnostics run and it reported that no problems were found.
View 16 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron 15 (N5040) and currently having problems with it. I was watching something this morning and suddenly the screen turned green and then shut off. It turns on but the screen refuses to. I first expected that the screen is just unplugged inside the computer so I tried to hook it up to my TV via Hdmi and oddly it didn't do anything.I took it all apart disconnecting everything and then reconnecting everything. Everything seemed to be in good shape. No signs of shorts. Then after letting it run I noticed it beep 4 times. According to Dell 4 beeps mean "Read/Write error." I don't know if they meant the ram or hdd so I tried isolating both sticks of ram and no difference. I tried putting in two different hdds, nothing different. Even if they were I don't know why the screen wouldn't turn on and the bios wouldn't try to load. I suspect that the gpu is just fried. Dell Inspiron 15 (N5040), Intel i3, 8 gb of ram. Windows 7.

So maybe after a day or two there has been a green screen appearing instead of video. I used to be able to restart the computer and it'd be fine for a while, then it became more freqent. Now no matter whether I restart my computer or I'm just starting it up the screen will be green whether it be youtube or skype. This is also happening with my sister's computer and it is the same type. My roomate, who does not have the touch version does not have any problems with her laptop.

its like a bunch of green pixels just start appearing all over the screen and wont go away until i either close the laptop or restart. After I do that it will go away for a couple weeks and then it will happen again.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem on my Acer 1810tz - when I press a Function button, such as Fn + F8 = mute/unmute sound, there is a very long delay of up to 3 seconds between pressing the button and seeing the speaker symbol show up on screen.
Acer's Launch Manager program is what displays the on-screen symbols. I have installed the latest version from the Acer website (it is a fresh install of Win7 64bit) found here, version 3.0.02.
When I purchased the laptop the symbols appeared straight away but now, after a fresh install, there is a long delay. All I have installed is chipset/graphics drivers and touchpad drivers.
I have an Inspiron 14R N4110. It recently died in the middle of a session. After that, it would occasionally power up normally, but now it does zilch.
When I press the power on button, it doesn't even light up. The only thing it does is, the small LED on the edge of the laptop lights up. The LED stays lit and won't go off even if I press the power button. The only way to get the LED to turn off is to remove the battery. Nothing on the screen. I have tried removing the battery and using just the AC cord, and it does the same thing.
The laptop is barely a year old and, of course, 3 months out of warranty.
I have a dell inspiron N4110 and i have recently replaced the power jack on it. when it is plugged in the led comes on and says it is charging but it will not power on at all it diden't beep or have any power up signs.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been getting the dreaded blue screen every couple of days for the last few months but since last week I keep getting it every 15 minutes ! My lapotp is 4 years old so I guess I cannot drag it anymore and have to think about a replacement hard drive or a new laptop.
So which one is the best option. I dont want to shell out the extra dough on the new one so was wondering if its worth buying a new HD and upgrading the RAM and keep working on the old one. I just use it for internet, word processing and Photoshop.

My Dell Inspiron 14 1440 froze and i decided to manually turn it on and back on. I pushed, and held the power button until it turned off. Once it turned off i decided to take the battery out (for no apparent reason). So i took it out and put it back it (i didn't really touch anything). Once i put it back in i tried turning it on by pressing the power button, but it wouldn't turn on. The screen is black, there are no blue lights that are on. (These lights are on when you turn the laptop on).I tried the taking out the battery and hold power button for 30-60secs trick, but no luck. I also have taken out my laptop's ram and re-inserted it (same with my hard drive). Oh and my battery is fully charged. I tried searching the net for solutions but no one really has the same problem as me. Most of the other people with problems said they could hear the fan, but with mine there is noting. No sound. No lights. No working laptop just one really expensive door stop.

the driver driver struck in infinite loop.I tried running the PSA (Pre-boot System Assessment) diagnostics and check if there is any problem with the video card by tapping F12 key.It passes without any errors and i am able to boot the system to windows screen. I also to uninstall and reinstall the video card drivers to fix the problem but of no use.Main Problem is ATI X 1300 graphics which is going in infinite loop and Blue Screen.
Just now i've gotten two blue screen messages in quick succession. I ran diagnostics from the boot screen and the test shows the only error is with the Hard Drive. I was given this message

Blue screen since I bought this laptop with windows 8 OS (3 months):
I already ran:
- Intel® Driver Update Utility
-Repair-install the operating system (Original Dell Image) for 2times
- All windows updates done
- Update the DELL BIOS version
- Ran DELL PC Check Up – Hardware Diagnostics
- Ran anti-virus, anti-malware, anti-spyware, etc.
- Ran HW monitor to check temperatures, all normal
- Ran Advanced SystemCare 6 for windows optimization and registry fix.
… and the the blue screens didn’t stop!!!. Usually I get one for day.
Normally I get this blue screens even when laptop is notbeing run any program. By the details look that is related with an app. But theolder critical events sometimes don’t give so many details.
This laptop a bad historical. In less than 3 months alreadyhad two times the hard-disk replaced.
None of the keyboard functions work including F12. When I plug it into a monitor it says analog mode and goes to sleep.
