My HP Pavilion g6-1207ev is appearing green and purple lines on the screen. It started out of the blue, they come ang go from time to time but when they appear they remain even after it shuts down or restart.

I have an hp Pavilion g7-1150us Notebook that is approximately 3 yrs old. I turned it on the other day to find that the screen is all pink and green with lines etc... Is there an independent video/graphics card that can be replaced? I would like to be somewhat knowledgeable when taking it in to be repaired.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a pavilion dv6, working perfectly till I closed the lid ( probably a bit too hard :/ ) and then when I opened the lid these vertical white, red and green lines are there. And a black stripe at the bottom of the display. Also horizontal grey bars covering the start button completely.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an HP touchsmart 15, it's fairly new; about two weeks old and the operating system is windows 8. So maybe after a day or two there has been a green screen appearing instead of video. I used to be able to restart the computer and it'd be fine for a while, then it became more freqent. Now no matter whether I restart my computer or I'm just starting it up the screen will be green whether it be youtube or skype. This is also happening with my sister's computer and it is the same type. My roomate, who does not have the touch version does not have any problems with her laptop.

its like a bunch of green pixels just start appearing all over the screen and wont go away until i either close the laptop or restart. After I do that it will go away for a couple weeks and then it will happen again.
I've been trying to just ignore it and keep thinking it will go away but idk. Has anyone else had this problem and what could it be?
When friends send videos I cannot always watch them as the screen turns green. The sound continues to play but there are no visuals.

Ive had my Hp 15 notebook pc for about three days now. The first day i watched a youtube video and netflix perfectly fine, but i cannot say the same for the last two days. The second day i tried to watch something on youtube and it showed a green screen. I thought it was just the video so i clicked on the next video, it was also green. I turned on my NFL sports videos and same thing there, so i think it may be the Notebook.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm pretty sure that my LCD screen is shot, and unfortunately, the warranty on this notebook expired in october, so sending it to SONY for repair is completely out of the question (They want $500 when I paid $900 for this notebook, it's absolutely not worth it)
That leaves me with the option of replacing the screen on my own.
Ordering a screen through Sony Parts Direct would cost me around $250, while getting a cheap third party replacement off of ebay for around $75 dollars. I don't really care either way as long as the computer works for at least another year.
So my questions would be,
1) Has anyone ordered a replacement screen off of ebay before, and what was the quality like?
and
2) Where can I find the disassembly, repair instructions for this computer on the Sony website?

I have a ThinkPad X230 Tablet. I tried system restore and safe mode, but none of it works.
After windows loads with the glowing animation, the login screen does not appear. I cannot open a task manager. I don't know if it's a problem with explorer.exe or what.
The explorer.exe crashed when I tried to connect to an external hard drive, and I tried to get task manager to open, but it wouldn't open.
That's when I tried to restart computer, and login screen would not appear. All I have is a black screen with cursor.
My new HP 15 notebook shows blank green for videos, but has sound.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've had my 7900 overclocked since the gtx/gsx bios thing came out a year or so ago. The other day the laptop's screen was frozen and it was locked up. Rebooted and had vertical green lines on the screen during bootup and black screen at startup.. had to reboot into safemode where things worked.. uninstalled the driver and it rebooted back into vista just fine. Installed a new driver and things seemed fine.. green lines were gone and windows worked.. the next day I rebooted and green lines are back... and things not working again.
I would like to reset the bios back to the original 7900gs at the stock speeds and voltage.. but I can't find the original bios.. and when I try to load any other 7900gs bios's I get a "bios mismatch" error.. with nvflash.

When I try to watch a video all I have is a green screen, audio is good.
So I just bought a new HP ENVY TouchSmart 17-j130us (Windows 8.1) a few weeks ago and now something is wrong with the screen. I decided I would connect my laptop to my TV monitor via HDMI. I set the laptop on top of my Xfinity cable box while it was plugged in (HDMI cable is too short) and continued doing my homework. A few hours later, when I unplugged it from the HDMI cable and picked the laptop up, the screen turned greenish and flickered. It went away eventually. But then I noticed that when I tilted the screen back or fowards or even slightly moved the laptop, the screen would turn green again and flicker green a little. I hope this is not my fault in some way. The touchscreen and the backlight works just fine. I can still see what's on the screen while its green. Right now it's fine unless I move the laptop or tilt the screen in some way. Also, when plugged into the TV, that’s fine as well.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe last 2 days I have wasted my time trying to fix my laptop. I have tried many things en read many advices all over the internet, but unfortunately every post is a little outdated and not similar to mine.
So recently after my computer screen crashed: my screen froze and all over the screen green stripes were visible. After a forced shutdown and restart, my computer screen started up with the screen flickering red-green-blue-white-black all over again. To see if it had anything to do with my LCD
I connected my laptop to an external screen. (I'm currently writing this on my TV-screen with input from my laptop, but all over the screen there are vertical green bars, 5 of them. If I set my resolution lower, the screen bars seem to spread out over the screen as if my screen was weaven together with green cloth. I have tried another input with a different cable(DVI), but the same problem occurs.
I have attached the images in which the error message is shown. For my graphics card I have installed the latest Nvidia drivers available. It might also be a problem that my graphic cards aren't used for the output of my display.
The drivers for the PCI device on Dell are outdated and not compatible with windows 8, which I run my computer with now.
I have encountered vertical lines on the lower half of my screen and it is always there. When you reboot, it comes up right away. I read where someone else had the same problem and it would come and go at will..

Everything has been working fine until yesterday whe I booted up, the screen rotated a solid green/blue/red for a few seconds then went black (backlight still on) and there it stayed, have re-booted a few times and each go, it goes straight to the black screen, I have plugged it into my TV via the HDMI which works fine can see everything and use as normal.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy screen recently started getting a lot of faded white lines going horizontal and vertical across my screen causing the screen to blur/disorientated my screen. I can still navigate just fine but there is clearly something wrong here. I've plugged it into my hdmi's port on my tv and the image is just fine. Is it a wiring problem maybe? The lines are getting slightly more extreme and a little more colored... They lines of windows extend around the border all the way to the end if the screen.

Have used my txn daily for 2 years.. slow but love the size for portability. Booted up this morning and there's a purple-ish streak going down the right side of the screen. See 2 pics attached. (I've never attached pics so hopefully this will work).
Is this streak a sign the LCD is going bad or the graphics card going bad?

An unknown icon appears on my desktop named " Thumbs.db ". It appears on my desktop screen as well as in some files and folders. Whenever I delete that icon, it goes for some time but again comes back on the desktop. And sometimes after deleting the file the desktop turns completely blank with purple background and again comes back to normal in few seconds.

for some reason the on screen display meter for my volume when pressing on the keyboard suddenly disappeared, I would like to get this back. I found this thread in the forum URL.... which another was having the same problem I'm having. The only difference is that I'm using HP Pavilion G7 with Windows 7.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem on my Acer 1810tz - when I press a Function button, such as Fn + F8 = mute/unmute sound, there is a very long delay of up to 3 seconds between pressing the button and seeing the speaker symbol show up on screen.
Acer's Launch Manager program is what displays the on-screen symbols. I have installed the latest version from the Acer website (it is a fresh install of Win7 64bit) found here, version 3.0.02.
When I purchased the laptop the symbols appeared straight away but now, after a fresh install, there is a long delay. All I have installed is chipset/graphics drivers and touchpad drivers.
