I have an hp Pavilion g7-1150us Notebook that is approximately 3 yrs old. I turned it on the other day to find that the screen is all pink and green with lines etc... Is there an independent video/graphics card that can be replaced? I would like to be somewhat knowledgeable when taking it in to be repaired.

And a black stripe at the bottom of the display. Also horizontal grey bars covering the start button completely.

Ive had my Hp 15 notebook pc for about three days now. The first day i watched a youtube video and netflix perfectly fine, but i cannot say the same for the last two days. The second day i tried to watch something on youtube and it showed a green screen. I thought it was just the video so i clicked on the next video, it was also green. I turned on my NFL sports videos and same thing there, so i think it may be the Notebook.

I was wondering if i brought a new lcd for it would this fix this problem?
And also how easy are they to fit by yourself if you dont really know much about computers?
I'm pretty sure that my LCD screen is shot, and unfortunately, the warranty on this notebook expired in october, so sending it to SONY for repair is completely out of the question (They want $500 when I paid $900 for this notebook, it's absolutely not worth it)
That leaves me with the option of replacing the screen on my own.
Ordering a screen through Sony Parts Direct would cost me around $250, while getting a cheap third party replacement off of ebay for around $75 dollars. I don't really care either way as long as the computer works for at least another year.
So my questions would be,
1) Has anyone ordered a replacement screen off of ebay before, and what was the quality like?
and
2) Where can I find the disassembly, repair instructions for this computer on the Sony website?

So maybe after a day or two there has been a green screen appearing instead of video. I used to be able to restart the computer and it'd be fine for a while, then it became more freqent. Now no matter whether I restart my computer or I'm just starting it up the screen will be green whether it be youtube or skype. This is also happening with my sister's computer and it is the same type. My roomate, who does not have the touch version does not have any problems with her laptop.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've had my 7900 overclocked since the gtx/gsx bios thing came out a year or so ago. The other day the laptop's screen was frozen and it was locked up. Rebooted and had vertical green lines on the screen during bootup and black screen at startup.. had to reboot into safemode where things worked.. uninstalled the driver and it rebooted back into vista just fine. Installed a new driver and things seemed fine.. green lines were gone and windows worked.. the next day I rebooted and green lines are back... and things not working again.
I would like to reset the bios back to the original 7900gs at the stock speeds and voltage.. but I can't find the original bios.. and when I try to load any other 7900gs bios's I get a "bios mismatch" error.. with nvflash.

When I try to watch a video all I have is a green screen, audio is good.
So I just bought a new HP ENVY TouchSmart 17-j130us (Windows 8.1) a few weeks ago and now something is wrong with the screen. I decided I would connect my laptop to my TV monitor via HDMI. I set the laptop on top of my Xfinity cable box while it was plugged in (HDMI cable is too short) and continued doing my homework. A few hours later, when I unplugged it from the HDMI cable and picked the laptop up, the screen turned greenish and flickered. It went away eventually. But then I noticed that when I tilted the screen back or fowards or even slightly moved the laptop, the screen would turn green again and flicker green a little. I hope this is not my fault in some way. The touchscreen and the backlight works just fine. I can still see what's on the screen while its green. Right now it's fine unless I move the laptop or tilt the screen in some way. Also, when plugged into the TV, that’s fine as well.

So recently after my computer screen crashed: my screen froze and all over the screen green stripes were visible. After a forced shutdown and restart, my computer screen started up with the screen flickering red-green-blue-white-black all over again. To see if it had anything to do with my LCD
I connected my laptop to an external screen. (I'm currently writing this on my TV-screen with input from my laptop, but all over the screen there are vertical green bars, 5 of them. If I set my resolution lower, the screen bars seem to spread out over the screen as if my screen was weaven together with green cloth. I have tried another input with a different cable(DVI), but the same problem occurs.
I have attached the images in which the error message is shown. For my graphics card I have installed the latest Nvidia drivers available. It might also be a problem that my graphic cards aren't used for the output of my display.
The drivers for the PCI device on Dell are outdated and not compatible with windows 8, which I run my computer with now.
I have encountered vertical lines on the lower half of my screen and it is always there. When you reboot, it comes up right away. I read where someone else had the same problem and it would come and go at will..
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe laptop won't power on. I've tried it with and without the battery. I've tried it with just the power cord. The light near the power cord lights up. When I press the power button it flashes once there and on the CapsLock key, then goes dark. I've tried removing the battery and power cord, holding down the power button for a minute, then plugging in the power cord. Same result.

Everything has been working fine until yesterday whe I booted up, the screen rotated a solid green/blue/red for a few seconds then went black (backlight still on) and there it stayed, have re-booted a few times and each go, it goes straight to the black screen, I have plugged it into my TV via the HDMI which works fine can see everything and use as normal.

I can still navigate just fine but there is clearly something wrong here. I've plugged it into my hdmi's port on my tv and the image is just fine. Is it a wiring problem maybe? The lines are getting slightly more extreme and a little more colored... They lines of windows extend around the border all the way to the end if the screen.

My case is this: what is supposed to be white is now pink e.g. the white page in Microsoft Word is now entirely pink, the white background of google is now entirely pink. I've ran my anti-virus scan and couldn't find anything wrong. I've looked on the net and I've found information regarding similar problems having to do with video cards. When I run a program like VAIO Recovery Centre as usual the box saying "A program needs your permission to continue" comes up. As it comes up everything in the background returns to normal (no more pink, except for within box itself), but I can see green lines across the screen.
My laptop is a Sony VGN-NR32M which I brought back in August.

for some reason the on screen display meter for my volume when pressing on the keyboard suddenly disappeared, I would like to get this back. I found this thread in the forum URL.... which another was having the same problem I'm having. The only difference is that I'm using HP Pavilion G7 with Windows 7.

View 9 Replies View RelatedHp Envy 6t-1000 has a green tint to the monitor. There seems to be no black color. I ran the system diagnostics and everything passes. If I tyr the color palette check it fails. I have updated the video drivers, updated the BIOS, replaced the monitor cable and run a system recovery using the disks provided by HP. All to no avail. I can attach an extrenal monitor, either HDMI or USB, and it works. Only the built in display has the green tint and lack of black palette.
