After trying to restore to a prior date it is now stuck in a repair loop.

Dell XPS 17 :: Stuck In Startup Repair Loop After Windows Critical Update
Mar 18, 2012I have a Dell XPS 17 laptop that seems to be stuck in the Startup Repair Loop, and I have tried everything to get out of the startup repair mode, but nothing seems to be working. I have tried F8, Safe Mode, System Restore (to two different dates), and the command prompt, but everything happened to no avail. I even did the Diagnostics test (long version), and that came up with nothing. I purchased the laptop back in October of 2010, and it has Windows 7. The laptop went into this Startup repair loop about a day after it did a Windows "Critical" update. One of the programs that the update tried to install onto my computer was Google Chrome (which it, according to the laptop, failed to install properly). It makes me wonder if the update uninstalled a driver, or turned a driver bad.
Two errors that I repeatedly get are "Corruptfile" and "Autofailover". I truly hope that this is something that can be fixed, and I hope that I will not have to restore my laptop back to it's factory settings.
Dell Inspiron 1545 :: Won't Boot - Stuck At Screen Starting Windows
Mar 6, 2013I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 that doesn't boot successfully. It gets to the screen indicating "Starting WIndows" and then just sits there. I tried safe booting but when it should be displaying windows files that are loading, the screen just stays blank. I tried selecting "Repair" boot but the system just blinks and returns to the window that asks me to select Repair or Normal Boot. (If I select Normal Boot, it gets to "Starting Windows" and that's it.
I checked out the hard drive externally and it appears the hardware is functioning normally. I successfully booted with Hiren's Boot CD. I would like to attempt a RECOVERY but can't get beyond the Repair screen.
Since Dell doesn't provide an OS disk with the computer that would allow me to reinstall Windows 7...

Jul 19, 2013Unfortunately I woke up this morning to my Y410P stuck with the Lenovo logo and text saying "Preparing Automatic Repair". After a few moments it will say "Diagnosing your PC " and then "Repairing disk errors. This might take over an hour to complete." Then after a few seconds it restarts and everything happens again.

Jan 17, 2015I have tried taking the battery out, and letting pc start w/o it, hitting the f8 key and trying each solution, System restore won't work, and each fix I read about won't work either. I hate re installing the oS, as I lose everything on my pc.

Feb 10, 2013Due to an update for the Bluetooth driver, my Laptop Inspiron N5010 has gone into a Repair Option Loop. Primary suggestion is to deal with the RegBack folder, something I haven't tried just yet. I can't see (through Linux Live DVDs or Win 7 Installation DVD) the Document Folder. There's is a User Folder and a UserName Folder but no Document Folder. There's a Desktop Folder but the files that used to be there are no longer there. I'm not sure if I really lost them or they're hidden by the system. I thought of removing the Hard Drive and connecting it to another PC to see if the Documents are still there but for this Inspiron, you need an Engineering Degree to remove the HD.

Apr 12, 2013I have a Dell Inspiron 1545. So, a few months ago, I got mad at my laptop and slammed the screen down. I think it was taking its sweet time shutting down or something. I can't remember. Anyway, the next time I tried to turn it on, it goes into Startup Repair, and then comes up with a screen of errors, namely "StartupRepairOffline", "Autofailover", "NoOSInstalled". I can go into advanced options and go into DOS command (it comes up to the X drive); I was able to successfully pull off stuff I wanted, but I'm thinking I damaged the hard drive. I've let this sit for awhile, using my daughters' laptop, but now I want mine back and want to repair it. What should I do first? Also, I don't think I have any startup disks or anything like that.

Lenovo P/Y/Z Series :: Y580 Cannot Boot Windows - Preparing Automatic Repair Stuck
Dec 2, 2014I'm very stuck with my Y580, and I'll start by saying that I purchased the laptop about 1.5 years ago, and it came with Windows 8 installed. I didn't like Windows 8 so much, so I decided that I would get Win7. I also decided that I'd put it on an mSATA to speed things up. After doing so, I just formatted the boot partition on the older drive to use for storage. But I kept the recovery partition on there. Everything seemed to work fine until I was recently informed that I should update the BIOS. I followed all of the instructions from Lenovo in updating to the version 8.00, something like 89WW in the file name. Then recently I noticed my temps were realllly hot when gaming... and I don't play graphically demanding games. I monitored my temps and found out that my CPU (i73630QM) was running over 90°c when playing games like LoL, Dishonored, RIFT, Darksiders, and a few others, all on lower settings.
I did some googling about temps and a lot of people were saying that BIOS is often a culprit for high temps. Maybe you've already put two and two together, but it took me until this point to discover that the BIOS I had updated to is a Win8 BIOS, and I'm using Win7. I figured, this is probably a big part of my issue (and even if it's not going to solve the heat issue, I'd still like to have all my ducks in a row and have all my hardware/software/firmware compatible.
As we all very well know from the few years of tampering with these Y580s, the BIOS can't simply just be rolled back. But I figured there had to be a way. After googling around for some time, I ended up trying a few different things; editing the Config file for the earlier version of the Bios (which just resulted in another error and locked up the keyboard and mouse), I tried booting the BIOS image from a USB, but to no avail (I tried both booting from USB and also a force BIOS update, using the fn+B method, which I realize I may be doing incorrectly, as I am not entirely sure what I should name the ROM file... I can't boot windows to use ANDYSTOOL, so I named a bunch of different ROM files with different names that have worked for other people) ... so on and so forth...
The last thing I've tried was Restoring the BIOS to factory settings (within the BIOS) and now the computer will not boot windows. The Lenovo screen Posts, and Windows starts to load, freezes a moment, Blue Screens for a second, then reboots, saying that there is an issue with either Hardware or software, and gives me he option to either boot windows normally (which just results in the same thing again) or to run an automatic repair. I tried the automatic repair and it just sits on the "Preparing Automatic Repair" screen, and will do so for hours with no progress.

The initial windows 8 parameters have been registered properly (it seems...) and since the second requested reboot the PC does not go to windows 8. There is nothing into the setup (F2) parameters which looks wrong and none of the boot options (F12) I tried have been successful... Is there a way to run a windows 8 safe mode boot or equivalent (note that I cannot go inside windows 8 top change this kind of option of course), and to move forward?

- Intel® Driver Update Utility
-Repair-install the operating system (Original Dell Image) for 2times
- All windows updates done
- Update the DELL BIOS version
- Ran DELL PC Check Up – Hardware Diagnostics
- Ran anti-virus, anti-malware, anti-spyware, etc.
- Ran HW monitor to check temperatures, all normal
- Ran Advanced SystemCare 6 for windows optimization and registry fix.
… and the the blue screens didn’t stop!!!. Usually I get one for day.
Normally I get this blue screens even when laptop is notbeing run any program. By the details look that is related with an app. But theolder critical events sometimes don’t give so many details.
This laptop a bad historical. In less than 3 months alreadyhad two times the hard-disk replaced.
Lenovo U/S Series :: U410 Stuck In Boot Loop
Sep 30, 2013Recently I purchased a u410 and it has been running great for a few weeks but this morning instead of waking up from hibernation like normal it seems to be stuck in a loop of displaying the lenovo logo then a blank screen with a few seconds on each. This has been running continuously for hours while I try to run down battery in an attempt to reset. I have no bios access during the loop and it will not boot to any usb media. I am now wondering what I should do since it already has data migrated from my old machine and don't exactly want to start over. Is there anything that can be done other than returning it or sending it to lenovo support?
