View 1 RepliesI decided to change the original 750gb hdd for a crucial 128gb SSD. I looked up a video on YouTube on how to change the Hdd on the 3550, so that I knew exactly what I was doing. I was able to change the hdd without issue, however I was unable to install W7 64bit off my Usb stick, installation said that it was unable to access the correct drivers. I decided to put the old hdd back in to put the laptop in its original state. However when I tried to boot up as normal, I got a PXE media error and I couldn't boot W7 off the original Hdd. I tried all sorts of boot combinations but no success.
I managed to boot successfully via network boot, by pressing f12on startup and selecting network as opposed to hdd. I decided to backup my hdd to an external hdd, while I had access to it. I left the laptop, plugged in, to backup. When I returned a few hours later the laptop was powered off and no longer powers up. I've tried charging (no lights lit up), changed the battery, checked charger was working etc. But laptop still won't respond or show any signs of power.Â
I have the Dell Vostro 3350 for 3 years now, and about two month ago My Google Chrome browser stoped working (the Gui is stuck whenever I'm oppening it)
I've tried any SW solution possible, including re-install it, install a lite version with no add-on's, and format my laptop, and nothing worked.
lately I've learned that two other friends of mine that have the same model (Vostro 3350) have the exact same problem with Chrome,
so now I believe that this maybe an hardware problem.
I have a dell vostro 3350. On windows 7 the sd card and usb 2/esata port work as expected.
On windows 8 they dont. If i install the latest drivers, they work until i reboot the laptop after which they are back to not working.
Is this laptop just not Win8 compatible?
I have dell inspiron n4110 laptop. Every time i boot the system it takes 20 to 30 mins. But after booting my system works fine with out any hang. But booting alone it takes very long time even i formatted my system and tried. So i ran the diagnostics i got the below error
Error Code 200-01 42
Validation 10522
Msg: Hard Drive 0 - S/N 5WS2Q5WB, self test unsuccessful. Status = 7
I have a problem with my Combo device (TSSTcorp) on my Dell Inspiron. When I burn a DVD data disk with Nero it is burned at 1X to 1.2X. It doesn't matter which speed I have set (4X or 8X). So it takes approximately 50 minutes to burn a full DVD and after that the verification takes same time at this speed again.
When I burn a CD the real speed is again slower than the speed I have chosen. And at the end of the burning process I get a message saying that "buffer underrun error has been avoided hundreds of times" or something like this.
When I try to rip a CD, I'm getting some very slow rip speeds. Here's what I'm using:
Windows 7
Winamp Pro 5.571 & Windows Media Player 12
Sony Vaio Intel® Core™ 2 Duo P7450 (2.13GHz)with Intel® Centrino® processor with Blu-ray Disc(which seems to be a Pioneer BD?), 4GB RAM.
Lame version seems to be 3.98
I have a brand new Acer Aspire 5536 Notebook. It came pre-shipped with Vista which I did not want.
So I tried a fresh install of Win7 - formatted drive etc,. Machine takes 5+ mins to boot so I put this down to a compatibility issue and tried XP. However I have the same problem, fresh install with only updates installed and it takes forever to boot (even longer than Win7).
Once booted performance is ok (in Win7 it was near perfect). Any ideas, I am beginning to think it is defective.
I have dell inspiron n5010 laptop which is not booting just showing me the black screen.. no cd/dvd/or pendrive is supported and that's why i can't format this..i can show only the bios setup option by pressing f2 and the boot menu by f10 other wise nothing is working.

View 1 Replies View RelatedDell Latitude D531 slow booting and slow opening applications - also diagnostics give error code 2000-0411 CPU not detected....
View 1 Replies View RelatedFirst of all I have a dead pixel right in the middle of the screen - will be taking this up with Dell tommorrow as its really off putting especially on brand new laptop.
My second issue is with wireless - did have problems initially with wireless disconnects and genrally slow speeds
Im not entirely sure but removing Mcafee seemed to work with the disconnects at least - load of rubbish imo
Now my only other major issue is with wireless speeds on the 1703 card
I seem to max out at about 45mb on all broadband speed tests - while on another laptop I get the full speeds of 80mb on the same server at the same location
Im only getting a link speed of 72Mbps in the networking tab of Task Manager and this does seem rather slow - the other laptop gets 450Mbps (better wireless card - to go with my Asus N66U Router)
Anyway my thought process is that the 1703Â wireless card is not up to much - I understand that the 1703 card is wireless and bluetooth - with I think 1 antenna for bluetooth and one for wireless connected to the wireless card.
Now I dont use bluetooth much if at all - so does it make sense to buy just a wireless card and connect the two antennas to the card and therefore losing bluetooth connectivity but gaining better wireless connection
I think I have an Intel Centrino WiFi Ultimate N 6300 in the other laptop
I just did a OneKeyRecovery to reset the notebook (original Win8); after that I did an upgrade to Win8.1; now the notebook boots (reboot/shutdown) very slow, booting takes >5 min; when it's up it's quite ok.
Assume an issue with the SSD cache, SSD is not visible (device manager etc,), reinstalled smartcache, smartcache doesn't find an SSD....
I bought lenovo z510 recently and liked its performance. But from last few days am facing issue when windows 8.1 boots .ie., when i power on my laptop i see "lenovo log" for more than 15 minutes and sometimes windows doesnt start at all. I have to restart few times manually with power button to see the windows screen.
Â
Initially i thought it is due to windows update, but even after I turned off update, am facing same issue. My laptop is hardly a month old and it is very frustrating to see this happening .
A week or two ago my Studio XPS 16 use to boot up fairly quickly, but now it takes about 3-4 minutes to boot up from shut down.
The only things I have running at startup are Zonealarm, Skype, Dell Touchpad, NOD32 Antivirus, and Dell Quickset. I'm running Vista 64-bit. Has anyone else experienced slow boot times with their SXPS 16?
If anyone experiencing long load times when booting up Windows 7? It takes considerably longer for me to boot Win7 than SL...
When Win7 boots, whether it be a cold boot or reboot, ill find myself hanging at a blank/black screen with nothing other than a blinking underscore in the top left corner for what seems like a minute, then it'll go to the normal "Starting Windows..." screen from there. Is a format/reinstall in order?
From power button press to everything being loaded it takes quite a while.
I installed a bunch of stuff but everything seems clean and organized.
Is it the objectdock I installed?
I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 which I cannot get started due to screen stating Time-of-day clock stopped. What I need to do.
View 1 Replies View Relatedwho came across with slow start up and sleep issues in windows 8.1. ( Dell Inspiron 15-3537).I recently upgraded from windows 8 to 8.1. After installing all the drivers found that fast start up not working and laptop does not awake from "sleep" state.
Actually reinstalling the Intel Video driver solved the problem. When I was going to install video driver, it was said that a newer version is already installed. However neglected that and downgraded the video driver. that 8.1 is faster than 8.you install the latest driver given in dell website.
This is terrible, by using CPUz i can see that, whilst the laptop is charging, the clock speed drops down to 900mhz and fluctautes between that and 1400mhz, this is shocking, i can hardly watch youtube videos or even post this thread, the lag and slowness is unbearable. When running on battery power the CPU speed shoots up to 2500mhz and stays there,it never seems to go to its turbo speed either. Whilst charging, the laptop is unusabe, i cannot do anything on it.
View 9 Replies View RelatedJust started TM backups on a new 1TB drive today....
It did 30GB in 2 & half hours! A little slow...
Why does it go soooo slow? Supposed to be faster in SL.... don't think so....
Went for Carbon Copy Cloner..... much better.... currently 27GB in 23 mins.... thats more like it.
That'll be my weekend moan out of the way I guess...
I've got an HP Pavilion g6-2260sh notebook with Windows 8.1 Pro operating system. My problem is that the internet download speed had fallen from 80 Mbits to 3-4 Mbits. The upload speed stayed the same as before, 25 Mbits. My notebook is connected to a router with another notebook and a PC. Those 2 computers have excellent internet speeds. I've reinstalled the operating system, but the issue still persists. After the reinstallation, the speed was fine for maybe an hour and then it dropped to 3-4. I only installed drivers from the hp driver finder, nothing else. I've tried the connection with cable and wi-fi with the same results. The device manager shows 1 Unknown device and 1 missing driver for Ralink_RT3290_Bluetooth_01
View 3 Replies View RelatedHad a w540 for a few days and so far it'd be fine. At the weekend i used the laptop on battery for a long time and thus set the power-management low to conserve power.
However, today having switched back to power supply and setting power scheme to max performance the CPU is still concerving power.
Â
Its running (according to resource manager) at 29% and no matter how much i do it sticks at that percentage. The laptop does feel like its running at that clock speed too ... everything is super slow ... can watch programs drawing in the display...
I have recently bought laptop acer aspire 6930 g with following features
Processor intel core 2 duo t6400 2ghz 2mb cash Ram 4gb ddr2.
Hard disk 1000gb ( 2 hard each one 500gb) and preloaded vista home premium and nividia 9600m gt 1gb ddr2.
And i notice that my laptop take too long boot time in compare with my friend laptop Dell inspiron 1525 with 1.6 pantium dual core processor and 2gb ddr2 ram and 160 gb hard disk and windows vista ultimate..so is there something wrong with my laptop and how can i speed up boot time and do u think that i can play games like crysis and call of duty 4 and GTA 4 on it?
my x230's fan is most of the time running full speed, and returns to regular (almost no noise level) for only a few minutes.I just got this x230 for less than a month and i notice this since most of my colleagues' laptops are all the time quiet compared to mine, which is a lot newer than theirs.Later on I will try the Full HW scan & see how it goes.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI now have a grey screen on booting and it is trying to reboot itself. It started with lines then dots. I managed to boot OK once after this but now just a grey screen. I believe I have managed to start diagnostics pressing Fn while starting as I heard beeps which kept repeating until I pressed Y, yes, I heard the sounds, I guess. But I can only see a grey screen so do not know the results of the tests. There are no beeps or diagnostic lights staying on or flashing to tell me anything. I had this problem before but cannot remember what I did if anything to remedy it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a dell vostro 3550. I Just got my mother board replaced a few days back... But now the system starts shows vostro logo.. Then starts again... Never reaching the os selection menu..( I have a dual boot so I need to select the os to boot in)....
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've a wee problem here and I'm not sure if there's anything else that I can do with it. It's a Vostro 1700 and it passes POST fine.
Vista starts loading as evidenced by the scrolling bar, but then instead of going to a logon screen,
I just get a black screen with a moveable mouse pointer, nothing else. Hard disk activity comes to a halt.
When booting up, the bios does not recognize the supervisor or HDD passwords.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had a Vostro for a couple months now and continue to be plagued by slow startup times of 2-3 minutes. Just as a frame of reference, I have 3 systems: a desktop I built, a Latitude E6400 and the Vostro. All have similar specs - a Core2Quad on the desktop, a dual-core Centrino on the Latitude and a Core i5 on the Vostro; each with 4GB RAM. I've installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and the same software on each of the machines - if anything, the Vostro has LESS software on it than the other 2. I downloaded all the drivers directly from this site.
At first I thought the startup time was slow due to a 5400 RPM hard drive, but last night I replaced it with a 7200 RPM (though not a fresh install - I took an image of the existing installation using imagex and applied it to the new drive) and it's still slow to boot. I turned off some programs and services in msconfig and using Revo and CCleaner and still get similar results.
Just now I turned both laptops on simultaneously to make sure I'm not making a big deal out of it (especially since the Vostro goes straight to desktop and the Latitude requires me to enter credentials) and I still got to my Latitude's desktop first - despite having to re-enter the password a couple of times!
I'll note that this is the only time the Vostro feels slow at all. Once I'm in everything runs smoothly and resuming from hibernate is noticeably faster (reasonably so I suppose)....
