View 1 RepliesI own a Dell Inspiron 3521, and I'd been having an issue with apps not opening and closing when I do try. I went to fix this error. That's when I made a grave mistake. Somewhere along the line of me trying to fix it, I messed with something I shouldn't have and when I finished with my task, I was told to restart the computer to activate the settings. After I turned it back on it seemed normal up to the point after I saw the dell logo. It went black. At first I made the assumption that since I changed settings that it was still trying to configure them. But soon after, I saw my mouse and a little signal flash in the bottom left of my screen. So I checked around and found out that I needed to reinstall windows with disc or USB. But I don't have access to either of those.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a dell latitude d531 i cant get it to power on and have no clue whats wrong... I have tried taking out the battery and power on with just the plug but still nothing the power light will come on for about 4-5 sec then shut off again... I think the battery is shot too because it will not charge when i plug in the power cord the green battery light comes on for 1-2 sec then off again and sometimes it will come back on flashing orange.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Latitude D531 laptop that when I hit the power button, the light comes on but goes off after about 10 seconds. This began when I had it on ansd all of a sudden shut down. One of Dell's people told me to try something but it still shuts off after five or six seconds. I thought it might be a short but am unsure.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhenever I plug in the charger the screen blinks black for a second, but goes back to normal afterward, and lags the computer for a few seconds (i figured that because my music or videos skips on WMP). The same thing happens when I unplug the charger. I didn't used to have this problem, it started happening when I reinstalled windows xp pro or updated to service package 2. But the previous times when I reinstalled windows, it never gave me this problem. The first time my brother reinstalled Windows he had this problem, and recently just reinstalled windows and he doesn't have this problem. Also, we have the same exact laptop and we used the same Windows XP Pro. disc.I don't know how to bring up all my information, I'm guessing its called BIOS, but I have a Dell Latitude D531, it has AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-56, 1gb of RAM, using SP2, using an OEM battery and charger(I highly doubt the battery and charger are the problem, but I thought I should mention that).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron N7110. Recently after updating my McAfee antivirus software my computer has been slow. The computer works fine when we first turn it on but after a few times of closing the laptop and reopening it to use it, the programs won't open. I try opening Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and my documents. Also the computer won't even turn off. It just stays at the blue logging off screen.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using Lenovo W520 with windoiws 7, RAM 8 GB. It is very slow and when I type something it appears with noteable delay. Also i am using virtal machne windows XP there. How can I get better performance
View 7 Replies View RelatedHaving done a lot of monitoring of my Latitude E5440 because of fan issues I spotted large CPU spikes every 9 seconds (no apps open or network traffic):
I can see it's caused by a group of "DcomLaunch" services. My old laptop with same OS, software, Anti-Virus (Avast) does not show these spikes.
Looking at similar problems reported on the net it was down to a third-party service/driver or malware but I have done a full scan and it still occurs in Safe Mode:
I have also gone through disabling as many services and drivers as possible but no luck. Seems like it must be something to do with power management?
I'm not a gamer as a 25% CPU spike every 9 seconds would be totally unacceptable.
I have dell inspiron n4110 laptop. Every time i boot the system it takes 20 to 30 mins. But after booting my system works fine with out any hang. But booting alone it takes very long time even i formatted my system and tried. So i ran the diagnostics i got the below error
Error Code 200-01 42
Validation 10522
Msg: Hard Drive 0 - S/N 5WS2Q5WB, self test unsuccessful. Status = 7
I have dell vostro 3350 i7, 8GB RAM, 750 GB Hard Laptop. No additional software. But booting time and speed very slow.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a brand new Acer Aspire 5536 Notebook. It came pre-shipped with Vista which I did not want.
So I tried a fresh install of Win7 - formatted drive etc,. Machine takes 5+ mins to boot so I put this down to a compatibility issue and tried XP. However I have the same problem, fresh install with only updates installed and it takes forever to boot (even longer than Win7).
Once booted performance is ok (in Win7 it was near perfect). Any ideas, I am beginning to think it is defective.
I just did a OneKeyRecovery to reset the notebook (original Win8); after that I did an upgrade to Win8.1; now the notebook boots (reboot/shutdown) very slow, booting takes >5 min; when it's up it's quite ok.
Assume an issue with the SSD cache, SSD is not visible (device manager etc,), reinstalled smartcache, smartcache doesn't find an SSD....
I bought lenovo z510 recently and liked its performance. But from last few days am facing issue when windows 8.1 boots .ie., when i power on my laptop i see "lenovo log" for more than 15 minutes and sometimes windows doesnt start at all. I have to restart few times manually with power button to see the windows screen.
Initially i thought it is due to windows update, but even after I turned off update, am facing same issue. My laptop is hardly a month old and it is very frustrating to see this happening .
I recently received my Dell Latitude 10 Tablet. I have created a USB install of Windows 8 Pro. The tablet cannot boot to USB. I have tried multiple USB drives and have verified the drives will boot on my Latitude laptop. I have verified USB boot is enabled in the BIOS. When pressing f12 for boot options USB is not an option. When entering the BIOS setup it is not listed as a boot device either. Clicking add boot device does not show it either. I've tried using the USB port on the table and the USB ports on the productivity dock. I have also tried creating the install on a SD card, that does not show as an available boot device either. The bios has been upgraded to A03 and I'm running version 9.14.3.1099, A04 of the clovertrail chipset.
View 2 Replies View RelatedUpdated Bios to A12 today, the system stated the updated was successful but after it's auto reboot it longer boots.
When you turn the system on the screen stays powered off (nothing on the screen, and no back light). The HD and WiFi lights stay on, the battery light flashes.
I've tried removing the battery and powering with just the mains adapter, I get the same problem.
I have a Dual core 1.2Ghz, 3GB ram (Crucial) Dell Latitude XT with a 32gb SSD, I've been having problems with it since January,
it stalls, you can't even switch between tabs in Internet Explorer 7 or Mozilla, Scrolling was very slow and glitchy. I stopped using it because
I was tired of Dell's useless CS i.e spending an hour on chat without any useful info, they replaced the HDD with a refurbished sandisk 5000 that was slightly better than the original but still too slow to use.
A couple of month ago, I asked them to send a regular hdd so I can see the difference, they sent me a refurbished 80GB that worked a lot better than the other two but started clicking a week or two afterward.
I am booting a Dell Latitude E5420 running Windows 7 and after the POST it just shows a blinking cursor..... BUT WAIT... not ALL the time... it does manage to boot into the windows after I choose the HDD from F12 options or sometimes even when I keep on shutting down and starting up again and sometimes when I do a restore checkpoint in the repair options....
The Diagnostic tests are not working when I go through the F12 and just hangs up showing the message -
Examining ACPI interface
Running MATS test
I can't understand... if it was consistently NOT booting or showing a consistent error... but here the behavior is erratic (except for the MATS test failure....
I am stuck with a dell E5440 here power light comes on and then laptop switches off and back on again and just repeat itself! I did not tried anything yet. It is i5 vpro and I installed 1TB HDD few months ago, it has been working no problem since yesterday.
View 4 Replies View Relatedtried to upgrade my Latitude E5510 from 2x2Gb (factury Samsung) to 2x4Gb Corsair CMSO8GX3M2A1333C9. BIOS updated to Rev. A13, latest. Memory is recognized as 8Gb. But booting into Windows7 X64 doesn't work anymore. If I boot from a Lubuntu CD (x86) it runs, naturally only with approx. 4Gb since this is a x86 OS-version. Windows 7 X64 just reboots. If I use Save Mode a reboot occurs when the loading of "ClassPnP.sys" starts. When I put in the old 2x2Gb everything works perfectly. Can't even get into Windows Setup from a clean DVD.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI try to fix a latitude E4300.
- int. keyboard does not work (however trackpoint and touchpad work), only an ext. USB keyboard works.
- laptop is slow: in the BIOS setup the response is already slow, mouse is very slow...
- when hitting F8 on the ext. keyboard, you get the windows startup menu.
(safe mode etc.) Response of this menu is also slow.
- windows (XP) does not start at all, you see the Windows startup screen and nothing happens (no BSOD)
- even a recovery cd like "hiren's boot CD" or "I have the password" doesn't start.
Bios: A13
All settings in the BIOS are correct. Changed to default, still the same problems.
I ran diagnostics (F12), but no errors found???
I ran chkdsk on the harddisk (removed HD and put it into an external HD case), errors were found, but corrected...
When I unplug the charger, the laptop returns to normal speed. Does anyone know the reason why this is occurring and if it can be fixed?
Also, I don't think the laptop is actually charging
In the task manager I see the CPU usage at around 20% when its not plugged in, and the moment I plug it in, it goes to 100%, then I unplug it and it instantly goes back to 20%.
all I got a new E6410 and 2 docking stations around a month ago.The problem I have is that when the notebook is in my office docking station it is really really slow.I can watch while window contents are draw, switching messages inthugnerbird takes a couple of seconds. In the home dokcing station everything is fine.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Latitude E5520 and lately it has been extremely slow, and characters on screen tend to lag far behind my keystrokes occasionally not appearing at all. Sometimes when I click on a button it will lag for several seconds and then go through, other times nothing will happen at all and I will have to click the button again and it works. Recently the laptop was taken on a plane and the in-flight wifi was used, that is the only thing done recently outside of the normal routine.
I have booted into safe mode and the lag still occurs. I have antivirus software installed and up to date.
Anyone experiencing delay for black 15.6inch 1080p with leather display in the US???
I was just informed that my order will be delayed for two weeks... cause of the screen
My 1555 with a T4200 Intel 2.0Ghz, 4 GB mem, intel video, Win 7 32 bit has developed an annoying delay in keyboard response and web site delay in both IE8 and Firefox.
I'm assuming its the onboard video which I am now stuck with since it can't be upgraded.
notice that many people on dell forums are complaing about a very large delay in shipping certain computers.
I know the XPS laptops are being delayed right now. So Make sure that you know if your model will be affected by the delay.
Mothers computer had been ordered around the 8th of december. orriginally the ship date was before christmas. later that had been extended to the 18th of january and now its nearly into febuary.
I have Compaq Presario CQ42-273TU NBPC. In my laptop , if i play video , it becomes very slow. After video becomes slow, everything else on the laptop becomes slow. recently i gave laptop for service also, then also i have issue with video.
View 8 Replies View RelatedHas anyone had any luck getting dell to upgrade anything because of shipping delay? Or offer discounts?
Specifically, I am thinking about trying to convince them to upgrade my warranty. I ordered a studio 17. the basic warranty is 1 year limited warranty with 1 year return to depot service. This is included in the base price. When I placed my order i upgraded (for $198 CND) to the 2 year limited warranty, with 2 year return to depot service, lojack+ accidental damage service.
I have been given the usual order delayed bullcrap like most of you. But is it possible to use this to get them to upgrade it to the 2 year NBD onsite service, lojack, and accidental? ($80 value over my original 2 year return to depot)
I am going to give it a shot this week when I can manage to find the time to sit on hold for a few hours. I will let you know what comes of it.
Anyone try anything similar? share your results
A few days ago I noticed that when I pressed the power button to turn on the computer, there was a delay of about five seconds before the computer reacted..
That was weird, I thought, but nothing unbearable. Today when I started up my computer, not only was there a delay, but when it did start up I got the BSOD.
It was only there for a few seconds so I couldn't read much of what it said.............................................
i'm typing from my friends mac, I'm installing some useful temp apps and such.. are there any specific programs or add ons that are must haves...
