Dell Inspiron N5010 :: Shuts Off While Booting In 10-15 Seconds
Jun 10, 2012
Dell inspiron N5010 laptop. When ever I carry my laptop to some place lets say from home to college it stops booting, when I switch on my laptop it starts but after 10-15 seconds it shuts off, also when I try to keep the system in bios it again shuts off within 10-15 seconds.
Twist in the problem is that if I keep my laptop idle for 20-30 minutes it starts working fine (I never remove battery or ram just left my laptop idle)
Another thing is i face this problem only when laptop is carried by me in my back pack or u can say when laptop is subjected to movement.
I noticed this pattern seriously. For past 15 days I didn't displaced my laptop from my desk and it work like any normal laptop but today when I took it to my friends place and there when I tried to boot it it starts and shuts off within 15 seconds while booting so I did the same left it idle without even removing ram or battery or charger for 10 -15 minutes and then it starts working fine.
Why is this happening is there is a problem i hardware or just some loose connection.
Dell inspiron n 5010. Was using it, and suddenly went off. I try putting it on, but it shuts down, every 10 seconds, whether in bios mode, diagnostic mode or booting mode. I start it and it says repair windows, enter, and it shuts down again within 10 seconds.
Had a laptop for just over 2 years so out of warranty. The laptop will not stay on for longer than 30 seconds - 1 minute, it doesn't matter what I'm doing (tried going into everything, Bios, safe mode, etc). I've bought a new battery and nothing has changed.
The laptop has had overheating problems in the past, whereby it would turn off if the fan was in someway impeded. Since this problem I have tried blowing into the fan and even used a hoover but nothing has worked.
Does it sound like its an issue with a fan or something else?
I have dell inspiron n5010 laptop which is not booting just showing me the black screen.. no cd/dvd/or pendrive is supported and that's why i can't format this..i can show only the bios setup option by pressing f2 and the boot menu by f10 other wise nothing is working.

For the past several days, when I've first opened my laptop there is only a blank screen. The computer does not wake up even after I push the power button and the screen continues to be blank. The only way that I've gotten it to respond is by shutting off, unplugging, removing battery and then replacing battery and turning it back on again. I've done this in different combinations. Do I need a new battery or is something else wrong?
I have a HP DV6000 Laptop. Im aware of the problems these models have. But this one I have not yet heard of. When I attempt to power it on, the lights turn on for 2 seconds, and it shuts right off. Its not like the Video card issue everyone speaks of. I have extensive technical background, and I have tried taking everything out, and trying each part one by one. I have tried swapping the power button ribbons, I have tried removing the bios battery. I guess im wondering if anyone else has ever been able to figure out whats going wrong with this setup? copuld it be a lack of contact between heat sync and CPU? please give me whatever input you can. I would like to not have to spring for a new Mobo. I can solder, and I am thinking of trying to heat the soldering points with a heat gun maybe. I dont know if thats the problem tho. and also, when the AC adaptor is plugged in, the blue LED surrounding it is on.
I also tried all this (of course)
1. Remove battery. 2. Remove AC power. 3. Remove and reseat your RAM modules. 4. Replace your RAM modules. 5. Hold down your power button for 1 minute. 6. Replace your AC power (not battery) and turn on remove the small bios cmos battery for 15min and then put it back in
I have a emachine e627 laptop i whent to turn it on one morning the light came on fan spins and then i hear a click {sometimes no click} then it shuts off within like 5 seconds or less ....
I just bought an Acer Aspire D255E with a cracked display. I tested it and it worked fine. Replaced the display with a brand new one, and the result is that it comes on, displays the opening screen, briefly flashes what looks like the screen you get when you shut down abnormally, then powers down. It will also power down in about the same time if I F2 into the BIOS.
My fan is not working properly, in fact it only runs for few seconds at booting and then never again.
My cores get about 70°C and higher (with only Skype and Chrome on), so I'm forced to use external fan to by able to work.
I found this problem when I was working and then my notebook suddenly shutdown a I wasn't able to turn it on for a while. Then I grabed it and I almost get 3rd degree burns.
Two noisy external fans, that I have to use to keep core under 70°....
My inspirion q15r will not turn on it takes atleast 20 attempts after i left it charging or even when its not the power LED stays on but the screen does load up or anything the LED next to it comes on for a few seconds but goes striaght off...
I have an Inspiron 15R Windows 7. Set default power setting "Ballanced" but screen goes blank after 1 minute and 5 seconds not moving my mouse or depressing keyboard key on both battery power and plugged in. Screen should remain on 5 minutes on battery and 10 minutes plugged in. Tried resetting default power settings without success. Very distracting when trying to read anything that takes longer than 65 seconds.
I just returned my previous Inspiron 13 model 7347 (the i5) because of screen flickering thinking I had a bad computer. The replacement is doing the same thing.
On battery the screen will flicker every 10 seconds or so. It is especially noticeable when the brightness is turned all the way down. I have tried going into the Intel HD graphics control panel and disabling the display power saving technology. I have also gone into Power Options and disabled adaptive brightness. I even went into the Dell extended battery life options and disabled Dell Intelligent Display. Nothing has worked. The screen still flickers and it is quite annoying. This is the second computer doing this in 4 days. I don't want to go back and return the second laptop if I don't have to.
I have an Inspiron 5100 That when turned on turns off after about 5 seconds. Once in a while I can get it to turn on but it blues Screens (memory Dump) after the Windows Splash screen about 80% of the time and the other 20% it runs fine. I saw this post Inspiron 5100 won't stay on for more than 10 minutes. and thought I would try Cleaning it out, The Fan turns on so its not that. I also Put new thermal Grease on the Cpu since the old stuff was dried and flaking off. This, I am sad to say, had no effect what so ever. So I Thought I would Ask the Laptop Guru's here to see if my assumption may be right. Do you think that the Proccessor is bad and needs replacing?
I recently purchased a Inspiron 5721. The fan comes on about a minute after it boots and never shuts off. Very irritating. I updated the BIOS to A05 but it didn't make any difference.
My laptop model is Dell inspiron n5010 (2011) . It was running fine until today when suddenly while I played game it started lagging, first I thought that probably I run too many app but I ran task manager and saw that my cpu is 100 % and led lamp for hdd is always on. I restarted and saw that right after I click the button the led is on. I ran defrag disk twice.
The battery on it flashes 3 out of 5 lights but not in order. The two end lights and the middle light comes in. They flash in unison 3 times before turning off. Anyway I plugged in 2 different chargers to the computer and the battery light on the pc flashes 3 or 4 orange and then 1 green. Then it resumes the light cycle just mentioned. The computer gives ZERO response to this whatsoever. If I unplug the ac adapter, the computer turns on for four seconds. No hdd noise, no fans, just a green power light ONLY. Not sure how to fix this or what it is, but nobody in the forums or on youtube or google seem to have solutions or even the same issue. I have tried reseating both ram, unplugging the wifi chip, dvd drive, doing the 20 second power drain without battery hooked up. All the same responses, just nothing....
I just bought a Inspiron 17R, Intel i3, 4GB RAM. I've had the machine for exactly one week and have noticed several times, this high pitch (almost like a digital watch), that comes on for about 3 seconds, followed by a 'click', as if a disk drive was done working. This noise is coming from within the computer, not the speakers. Yesterday, it did it again, except the pitch changed during it's sound; again, followed by the 'clicking' sound.
The other thing I've noticed (and maybe I'm oblivious to new technology), is the fan on the inside of the computer doesn't stay on all the time. It comes on about once every 3-4 minutes, at a about a 5-8 second cycle. Maybe it's supposed to do that. I'm use to my old machine's fan staying on most of the time, allowing you to feel the heat being pushed out. Not so much on this one.
My dell laptop (M501R) suffered a Blue Screen and wouldn't reload windows. Eventually, I just re-installed windows (re-formatting the hard drive) but everything was running slowly after about a minute or two of running windows. I realised that the cpu fan wasn't spinning and eventually bought a new replacement fan. I changed the fan over but I still have the same problem.
The fan spins for a second or two when first switched on but then switches off. I updated the bios and as soon as the bios program began updating the bios, the fan kicked in at full speed until the bios was finished updating and then switched off again.
I've ran the Dell diagnostics program and the only faults picked up are related to the hard drive, something to do with SMART.
I have an Inspiron 17R that is 4 months out of warranty. 99% of the time when you hit the power button the power light comes on, the disk light comes on and you can hear it spin. Then all you get is a beep that is almost a "click" every 2 seconds. You have to hold the power button to actually power off again.
SOMETIMES you can hold the "D" down with power up and get the screen to go through the rainbow routine. But on totally rare occasions it will boot and come up in Windows and you can login, etc and work normally. I cannot pinpoint the sound because it actually sounds like it's coming from the speaker.
I get no Dell logo or POST diagnostics, so I can't go into setup or advanced diagnostics either.
My screen just shuts off sometimes. It goes black and i may or may not be able to get it working again.
Pushing buttons on the keyboard or moving the mouse does nothing, nor adjusting the display's brightness. When it goes on i can hear the "da-dam" sound that Vista makes when you connect/disconnect something to/from a USB port.
Recently laptop shuts down unexpectedly even when battery shows 40%. When it restarts with mains on, battery shows 0% power. When I check the battery health, it shows "Your Battery is able to charge normally. However, you may begin to notice reduced operating time because your long-term battery life is decreasing". I know my battery possibly needs to be replaced, but don't understand why battery indicating incorrectly?
At random, the 6,5, - and = keys get pressed (can be seen if a text editor/area is focused at the time) and the Windows 'help' dialog pops up, then shut down (no BSOD) within 2-3 seconds. It can also just shut off at any point during boot/shut down.
so my old ac adapter was starting to break..the end that plugs into the laptop was falling off..then it stopped charging the laptop...i have been using another laptop for awhile and decided to buy a new ac adapter for my 5100...well i got my adapter today and plugged it in..the 5100 powered on and i turned away for a second and looked back and the screen had a bunch of words and the only thing i caught at the bottom it said press f2 then it shut off...so i tried to power it back on and it went to the dell intro screen where u can press f2 and then it shuts off...everything turns on the fan and the screen comes up but as soon as it gets to the dell screen it turns off..
When i tried powering on again the lights flashed and nothing turned on..i unplugged the adapter and plugged it back in and the lights flashed as i did that...i pushed power and it started up again only to turn off at the dell screen..as the adapter is plugged in the battery light doesnt stay on at all..just flashes when u plug in the adapter...the light stays on when u turn on the computer but everything just dies within a few seconds..i tried pressing f2 before the computer shut off but it still just turns off
I have problem with my dell 1525. After a full battery discharge, I plugged the power and tried to turn it on. All the lights turn on, but after a second it goes silent and I cannot see anything on the screen even the dell logo.
I also tried to remove the battery and the power cord, pressed the power button for 30sec, doesn't work.Later today I will try to remove the RAM and then install it one by one to see if the problem may be caused by bad RAM , but I doubt that this is the solution.
I have a Dell Inspiron 1545. When I turn the laptop on the fan and noises all started but the screen stays black and it completely shuts down. Does not restart itself but shuts down.
I have tried...
- Taking out HDD - Removing battery
I also have another one of the same laptops and tried using the battery, adapter and hdd. All 3 worked for the other laptop but not this one.
I turn my laptop on and the screen is dim but I can see everything fine it works fine but then I plug in the power and the screen brightens up to normal then 3 seconds later it goes blank everythin in the back round is still running everything is fine but I can't do anything because the screen is blank. So I usually have to turn it off and let the battery charge all the way which it does and that works fine. So then I can start it up on the battery working fine but as soon as I go to charge it while its on the screen goes blank...
