Dell Inspiron 17R :: Boots Occasionally - Getting Beep That Almost Clicks Every 2 Seconds
Jan 29, 2015
I have an Inspiron 17R that is 4 months out of warranty. 99% of the time when you hit the power button the power light comes on, the disk light comes on and you can hear it spin. Then all you get is a beep that is almost a "click" every 2 seconds. You have to hold the power button to actually power off again.
SOMETIMES you can hold the "D" down with power up and get the screen to go through the rainbow routine. But on totally rare occasions it will boot and come up in Windows and you can login, etc and work normally. I cannot pinpoint the sound because it actually sounds like it's coming from the speaker.
I get no Dell logo or POST diagnostics, so I can't go into setup or advanced diagnostics either.
I just opened my new Inspiron 15 (5545, Mid-2014), and the touchpad occasionally double clicks. When I press the lower left corner, I sometimes get a single click (which is what I'm expecting), but I also sometimes get a double click. If I simply tap the touchpad once, I can get a single click, but I should be able to use the left-click button.
I've checked the Dell Touchpad settings, and I verified that the left button is set to "Click" and not "Double click". I ran the Dell Touchpad test in My Dell, but all it was checking for was whether or not the buttons and touch surface were responsive. It didn't seem to indicate whether the press was a double click or a single click.
so sometimes my laptop will just randomly beep twice then something clicks... It just does it randomly, sometimes when I turn my laptop off and just randomly when it's running. The beeps are short.
My Inspiron 5421 won't start. I can hear the drive start and after a few seconds I get a 4-beep code (RAM read/write failure). The warranty expired about 6 months ago.
I used the nVidia VGA BIOS mod a few weeks ago, this is probably not my problem, though. I booted blindly using the USB stick (had to remove the HDD) and flashed the old BIOS, yet I still get a blank screen.
Before this happened, my laptop was acting really sluggish for some reason, so I thought I should restart to fix it, I did that and it came up as a blank screen! First restart, it seemed to boot to the OS, next time, it did not.
It's pretty much like the 5315 post (what a coincidence).
I have my laptop in my room, and I usually leave it on when I go to bed, but I can always hear it clicking up a storm when it's not even processing anything. When it's Idling, it just keeps clicking
I own a Dell Inspiron N5010. I am having a problem with the mouse, both the touchpad, and when I plug an external mouse in (although the problem seems to occur with somewhat less frequency when I am using the external mouse). The computer is having trouble recognizing mouse clicks. Sometimes it recognizes them properly, sometimes it responds to left clicks as if they were right clicks, and sometimes it does not respond to them at all. The problem seems to be worse when I am using a web browser, but it occurs consistently.
I've recently bought an Inspiron 15Z 5523 (Win 8) and started experiencing ghost clicks on the touch screen (primarily on the left side of the screen). Once it starts happening, it pretty much makes it impossible to use the laptop since it starts to click/zoom/scroll randomly continuously. Leaving it alone wont fix it. I have to turn off the laptop via the power button and the problem fixes itself sometimes after turning it back on, but at other times, have to leave it off for longer. I have also tried wiping the screen clean, but doesn't work either.
When I depress the left button on the touchpad it "single clicks". When I release pressure from that button there is another "single click". I have looked at the Mouse settings and I do not see an option for this.
I have a Dell Inspiron N5010 and about one year ago it starting booting slowly. I created a second partition and installed a vanilla Windows 7 on it and booted into it and it still boots slowly.I've tried every form of optimization that various sites, including you, have told other people in forums. Drivers, defragmentation, chmod, and various other things I can't remember.
It takes about 3-5 minutes for a cold boot and about 9 minutes from hibernation. Sleep mode works normally.I don't know what the issue could be. There's only two more things I have not done: backup and reformat the whole drive and update bios.I have recorded me starting my laptop in safe-mode to show that the drivers load very slowly: URL...
I have a laptop model inspiron 1564.it didnt want to boot up at all.took battery out and put back in. And now it boots up but it beeps 5 times then boots up.
I have a Dell Inspiron 1525. It was not booting, seemed like it had some issue with the motherboard. Got it changed. It worked fine for one day, then again the next day it was not booting. Then I tried removing the battery and kept the adapter on and it worked. Now is the battery faulty? Do I have to change that, or could it be some other issue?
My Inspiron N5050 no longer boots up, not even in safe mode or "last known good configuration." Decided to reinstall the Operating System, but need to know whether I have 32 bit or 64 bit.Have all the originbal documentation, including system specifications, but cannot tell whether my laptop is 32 bit or 64 bit.How to determine if you can't boot up the system?
I have upgraded my laptop from 4GB to 12GB (4+8). After the upgrade, the laptop boots and runs very very slowly. My laptop came with 4GB ram 1600 single stick. I upgraded the RAM by adding another stick of 8GB same bus and same manufacturer. The BIOS shows the total memory as 2288MB instead of 12288MB. Windows detects total RAM of 12GB but boots and runs very slowly.I have updated the BIOS from A06 to A07 trying to resolve the problem but with no luck. When installing each RAM stick alone (4gb or 8gb), everything works fine, but the issue comes back again when both sticks are mounted together even when switching the places on the sockets.
Dell inspiron n 5010. Was using it, and suddenly went off. I try putting it on, but it shuts down, every 10 seconds, whether in bios mode, diagnostic mode or booting mode. I start it and it says repair windows, enter, and it shuts down again within 10 seconds.
My inspirion q15r will not turn on it takes atleast 20 attempts after i left it charging or even when its not the power LED stays on but the screen does load up or anything the LED next to it comes on for a few seconds but goes striaght off...
Note: My battery was not working, laptop was running as plug in only.
My laptop suddenly turned off during working, and wont start again, after giving a day rest, it starts again but before the windows launch it turns off again and wont start again.
Few days after I simply removed my battery and it start working normally but its been only 5 days, my laptop wont turn on now.
when I connect my AC power, laptops power lights on and it beeps once and power gone.
when I try to press power button, nothing happens,
but when i remove AC adapter and connect again, power light comes automatically but after 2 seconds it beeps and turned off.
I have tried disconnecting AC power, hold power button for 60 secs, and then connect my AC adapter (power button being pressed) lights come, it beeps for one time and turned off.
I have dell red n5040 i3 processor, service tag<Service Tag removed as per privacy policy> no display. i already remove the cd rom, hdd, wlan. i replace new memory. but still don't display. when i remove the memory it beep twice, when i installed the memory i beep once but still don,t display. I tried the original memory to other laptop it runs ok.
Had a laptop for just over 2 years so out of warranty. The laptop will not stay on for longer than 30 seconds - 1 minute, it doesn't matter what I'm doing (tried going into everything, Bios, safe mode, etc). I've bought a new battery and nothing has changed.
The laptop has had overheating problems in the past, whereby it would turn off if the fan was in someway impeded. Since this problem I have tried blowing into the fan and even used a hoover but nothing has worked.
Does it sound like its an issue with a fan or something else?
Dell inspiron N5010 laptop. When ever I carry my laptop to some place lets say from home to college it stops booting, when I switch on my laptop it starts but after 10-15 seconds it shuts off, also when I try to keep the system in bios it again shuts off within 10-15 seconds.
Twist in the problem is that if I keep my laptop idle for 20-30 minutes it starts working fine (I never remove battery or ram just left my laptop idle)
Another thing is i face this problem only when laptop is carried by me in my back pack or u can say when laptop is subjected to movement.
I noticed this pattern seriously. For past 15 days I didn't displaced my laptop from my desk and it work like any normal laptop but today when I took it to my friends place and there when I tried to boot it it starts and shuts off within 15 seconds while booting so I did the same left it idle without even removing ram or battery or charger for 10 -15 minutes and then it starts working fine.
Why is this happening is there is a problem i hardware or just some loose connection.
I have an Inspiron 15R Windows 7. Set default power setting "Ballanced" but screen goes blank after 1 minute and 5 seconds not moving my mouse or depressing keyboard key on both battery power and plugged in. Screen should remain on 5 minutes on battery and 10 minutes plugged in. Tried resetting default power settings without success. Very distracting when trying to read anything that takes longer than 65 seconds.
I just returned my previous Inspiron 13 model 7347 (the i5) because of screen flickering thinking I had a bad computer. The replacement is doing the same thing.
On battery the screen will flicker every 10 seconds or so. It is especially noticeable when the brightness is turned all the way down. I have tried going into the Intel HD graphics control panel and disabling the display power saving technology. I have also gone into Power Options and disabled adaptive brightness. I even went into the Dell extended battery life options and disabled Dell Intelligent Display. Nothing has worked. The screen still flickers and it is quite annoying. This is the second computer doing this in 4 days. I don't want to go back and return the second laptop if I don't have to.
I have a problem with my Dell Inspiron N5110. Its making a beep sound ( 5 in a row ) during system start up. Gradually the volume reduces and become very minute but still I am able to hear.
I been reading threads about dell beep codes problem. Mine comes up after days of expired waranty. Very dissapointed with it because I now that my 1 year waranty expired I can not contact Dell support anymore.
It's been unclear if the what's the problem cause but one thing is for sure. I am very dissapointed in Dell, looks like their product has only 1 year life span.
I have Dell inspiron 15R, most of the time it fail to start when i press power button it will continuously beep once every 3-5secs display is not lightning it will stay that was as long as you let it be it will not stop, pressing power button hold for 3-5sec will turn of the Laptop but if i try to press again the power button it will start again beeping. i tried to remove the battery and press the power button it will still keep on beep display is black out..
I need to contact customer services regarding my daughter's Dell PC. It is three years old and out of warranty it is still in perfect condition otherwise as my 12 year old daughter has only used it for light use and it was working perfectly until the other day. Then it just wouldn't turn on and started beeping seven times. I have noted from this website and many others that there was a generic fault with the processor Inspiron M5030 so I was surprised that there has been no type of recall on the laptop.
My daughter is understandably upset as I cannot afford to buy a new laptop and when I bought the Dell I thought it was a good product and expected it to last considerably longer than it has. According to trading standards I am within my rights to go back to the manufacturer within in six years of purchase if the product should be expected to have a longer lifespan and is known to have a fault. However, I can't seem to send an email from this site.
I have a 1 year old Inspiron 5050 that does not boot.
It's completely dead With the battery in. No led on front. When I remove the battery and power up it starts to boot , shows the dell screen , beeps once then dies.
I have to remove the power cord to get it to reboot and it does the same again , one beep then nothing.
