I have a problem with my Dell Inspiron N5110. Its making a beep sound ( 5 in a row ) during system start up. Gradually the volume reduces and become very minute but still I am able to hear.

In the login screen, in the password field automatically populated with "*" and entering correct password get into a windows.
Every key is working except 'p' and this sometimes works. But to my wonder, this key automatically getting typed in text areas frequently. it continuously prints that key whenever focus goes on the text area.

In 2013, base of the laptop was broken and I had to replace it with a new one though there was no problem in hardware at all. Soon after the dell representative installed the new base and left my house I was facing a weird problem. When I power on the laptop, my screen gives a mild flash but does not start (6 out of 10 times, not always), but I can hear windows start up sound in the back ground. I use to press power button again to lock or stand by the laptop and then move my mouse. After performing this I can see the screen glows and log on screen shows up.
I was using my laptop like this for past 1.5 years as pressing a power button was no big deal. Today on the eve of new year, I saw my trick does not work any more. I was not able to start my screen even after repetitive attempts. But I remember I used it last night, display was really fine.
Whenever i turn on my laptop(DELL ispiron N5110), my system gives 5 continuous beeps thrice, i don't know the reason and what kind of failure it may be indicating. Few days back it was showing blank screen for a short duration when i turned it on.

Note: My battery was not working, laptop was running as plug in only.
My laptop suddenly turned off during working, and wont start again, after giving a day rest, it starts again but before the windows launch it turns off again and wont start again.
Few days after I simply removed my battery and it start working normally but its been only 5 days, my laptop wont turn on now.
when I connect my AC power, laptops power lights on and it beeps once and power gone.
when I try to press power button, nothing happens,
but when i remove AC adapter and connect again, power light comes automatically but after 2 seconds it beeps and turned off.
I have tried disconnecting AC power, hold power button for 60 secs, and then connect my AC adapter (power button being pressed) lights come, it beeps for one time and turned off.
I been reading threads about dell beep codes problem. Mine comes up after days of expired waranty. Very dissapointed with it because I now that my 1 year waranty expired I can not contact Dell support anymore.
It's been unclear if the what's the problem cause but one thing is for sure. I am very dissapointed in Dell, looks like their product has only 1 year life span.

View 15 Replies View RelatedI have a very confusing issue with my Dell Inspiron N5110 Core i5 laptop. Sometimes when I try to switch it on, it doesn't do anything at all. I tried to talk the battery and the AC adapter out, press and hold the power button for 30 seconds, put the battery and the AC adapter back in but nothing at all happens. No lights are showing up at all on it even when i'm having the AC adapter however i am sure that the adapter is fine.
What confuses me that when i leave it for a day or two and try again, it just works fine. It is about 7 months old and it came up with Windows 7 home edition on it.

So i updated the BIOS but unfortunately didn't work. More over i did a system restore to a windows update a week ago also still beeps at startup.

And if I press power button, its turning off. Later I've pressed F8 key to login in Wiindows Normal Mode, its opening Windows. So every time i've to press F8 key to login. Sometimes the beep sound continues and not logging in normal mode or in Safe mode.
I thought it might be RAM issue and I checked 'System Settings' in Control Panel, it shows the usable RAM is 2.77GB of 8GB.
I went to Dell laptop service center near by my location and they said its keyboard problem, they charging too much amount to replace keyboard. but my keyboard is working properly.
I've just dropped my laptop (dell inspirion n5110) while it was on (about a feet) and now it's beeping. I also noticed that the bottom left of the screen disattached, but I was able to put it back in. I understand that 8 beeps mean LCD failure. I've tried to do the test run by pressing "D" but nothing shows up, only a white screen.

After booting with the F8 option then through Advanced Options I selected to restore the laptop to the factory image since there was no data that I needed from the unit. After the laptop restoration was finished I now boot to the BSOD and it perpetually asks for a startup repair which does not work. I made this unit a door stopper needless to say since there are no disks included in the purchase. Is there any way to get this laptop back to factory?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought inspiron N5110 laptop from about 8 months from middle east. From 5 months when I came to USA the laptop stop working. I tried to send it to dell as it was still in the warranty but they refused to take it because it had not an international warranty. I sent it to a technician in USA who told me that the motherboard is overheated. I got a motherboard that has the same part number and install it in the laptop.
The problem is that when I power it on some times the screen not display anything although it logs in windows as I hear the sound, and sometimes it log to windows and after about 15 min the screen stop working.
I do not know why it do this is this a problem in the new motherboard? or in the CPU?
