My dell Inspiron 1545 will not boot up into windows on start up, I've run a computer diagnostics, which came up with an error code 2000-0146. What this means? I've looked on the support pages & basically they say i need to contact them so it sound serious, is this so?
View 1 RepliesI have a Dell Inspiron 1454 which when you press the power button it whirrs slightly (think it's the fan) before doing nothing else except having a blank screen and a white light indicating power to the laptop (solid white). My OS is Win 7 and I've had the laptop a few years now. So far I've tried the following:-
Pressing the D button while powering on to test the display - this works as I get the coloured screens so It can't be a screen fault.
Pressing the FN key whilst powering on to get the POST code - this is seven beeps continuously which seems to common and has to do with the CPU cache?
Tried the obvious removing battery, holing power button for 1 minute to discharge any residual power. Also removed the CMOS battery and put it back in again.
Also tried plugging in an external monitor but nothing showed up. Is it something to do with it being stuck in hibernation?
I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 which I cannot get started due to screen stating Time-of-day clock stopped. What I need to do.

Note: My battery was not working, laptop was running as plug in only.
My laptop suddenly turned off during working, and wont start again, after giving a day rest, it starts again but before the windows launch it turns off again and wont start again.
Few days after I simply removed my battery and it start working normally but its been only 5 days, my laptop wont turn on now.
when I connect my AC power, laptops power lights on and it beeps once and power gone.
when I try to press power button, nothing happens,
but when i remove AC adapter and connect again, power light comes automatically but after 2 seconds it beeps and turned off.
I have tried disconnecting AC power, hold power button for 60 secs, and then connect my AC adapter (power button being pressed) lights come, it beeps for one time and turned off.
I turn on the laptop Inspiron 1545 and keep getting an error message that says, "WINDOWS BOOT MANAGER... Windows failed to start.... Then to gives me 3 steps but when I click F8 nothing happens!!! I insert the cd and it takes forever to do a diagnostic check.

I know it is problem of key stuck but I can not find which key is stuck.I try dell diagnosis but it can not find. After beeps my os boot normally but after that when I come to OS the search boxes open automatic.
My Dell Inspiron, won't come on, first it started out with memory dump, with:
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA error message,
and Stop Code: 0x00000050.
Then I did 'system restore', it didn't work.
I tried 'chkdsk' it didn't work
I tried 'System Repair', it didn't work either
I took out the RAMs and re-seated them, it didn't work,
Now its even worse, the PC won't even come on at all.
I bought a Dell Inspiron 1545-8523 for my daughter for christmas. It has been operating fine until last night. I dont have much technical ability at all. I have however run a diagnistic F12 and it has come back with error code 2000-0142. The laptop does actually start up , but is very sluggish.

Has been in irregular use as a spare machine, mains adapter only, battery removed. My house was struck by lightning over a year ago and adapter damaged. Replaced adapter and no further issue until now.
Laptop would not power up, no light. Tested adapter and tried another 2 adapters - still no power up. Replaced original adapter and plugged in depleted battery - powered up but had to press F1. Powered up with no issue with good battery. Once powered up the laptop seems to be charging battery OK. Guessed this was a power board issue but no change when replacement fitted.
My Inspiron N5030 Laptop won't boot it gets stuck after the Dell logo. Then a "_" sign appears at the top left corner of the screen and then it just hangs.
I have already tried the Dell CD and run diagnostics with no problems found. Could it be a software issue or hardware as in malfunctioned hdd?
I have a inspiron 1545 laptop, and every now and then randomly it turns itself off. I think it's overheating, but don't know how to adjust the fan speeds (if you can) and i took the back off and cleaned round the fan, so it's not blocked up. It might be something else causing it to turn off i'm not too sure.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am having troubles with my dell inspiron 1545. It has been working fine, but I just tried to switch it on, and it won't boot. After pressing the 'on' button, the cd drive flashes and makes a noise, like it normally does when I switch the laptop on. Then nothing happens for a whole minute, and then a loud repetitive beep starts. It's 4 beeps in a row, which then gets repeated. I have let the beep continue, but it doesn't seem to stop, unless I either press the 'on' button again or take the battery out.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron 1545. So, a few months ago, I got mad at my laptop and slammed the screen down. I think it was taking its sweet time shutting down or something. I can't remember. Anyway, the next time I tried to turn it on, it goes into Startup Repair, and then comes up with a screen of errors, namely "StartupRepairOffline", "Autofailover", "NoOSInstalled". I can go into advanced options and go into DOS command (it comes up to the X drive); I was able to successfully pull off stuff I wanted, but I'm thinking I damaged the hard drive. I've let this sit for awhile, using my daughters' laptop, but now I want mine back and want to repair it. What should I do first? Also, I don't think I have any startup disks or anything like that.

My Inspiron M5030 laptop was working perfectly fine last night. It was plugged in all night, and I had done the usual hibernate/sleep mode before going to bed. When I tried to start it up this morning, the screen remained black. It made the startup fan noise but then that stopped. Then it gave seven quite loud beeps. If I don't turn it off, it continues to give the seven beeps separated by a short break.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am currently using windows 8 as my OS. When I attempt to start my laptop the Dell logo flashes on the screen and the screen turns blank/black and sits there for a few min before displaying an empty bar and F12 Boot Options in the bottom right hand corner.
I have attempted to press F12 to try and load windows in safe mode but everything is frozen at this point.
Is there a way to determine if its a hardware issue or windows issue. When I searched for the issue I found some with a similar issue but the link provided for support was no longer valid

My Inspiron 5421 won't start. I can hear the drive start and after a few seconds I get a 4-beep code (RAM read/write failure). The warranty expired about 6 months ago.

No issues with battery and hdd.
The fan works for 2 secs and then stops.
I think my motherboard is fried on my E6400 and there is no service tag sticker. Is there any way I can find out if I still have a warranty?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI tuned my Dell XPS 12 off because my Outlook wasn't working properly. Now I can't start it back up. The screen is totally black and nothing comes on. Only the backlit keys seem to be working. The connection box between it and the electrical cord was very warm. I let it totally cool down and unplugged it but it still won't start.
