Dell Inspiron 17R :: Have To Turn On Two Times To Start Laptop
Jan 27, 2013I have an Inspiron 17R laptop that I have to turn on two times to get it to start up - how can I fix it? My laptop is just over one month old.

Dell Inspiron M5030 :: Laptop Won't Start Up / Just Beeps Seven Times
Mar 6, 2013My Inspiron M5030 laptop was working perfectly fine last night. It was plugged in all night, and I had done the usual hibernate/sleep mode before going to bed. When I tried to start it up this morning, the screen remained black. It made the startup fan noise but then that stopped. Then it gave seven quite loud beeps. If I don't turn it off, it continues to give the seven beeps separated by a short break.

However i changed the coin cell battery twice and nothing change still beeps. So i updated the BIOS but unfortunately didn't work. More over i did a system restore to a windows update a week ago also still beeps at startup.

Apr 28, 2013My Dell Studio 1555 won't start anymore. When I want to turn it on, I get a beeping signal (2 beeps) and nothing happens. I tried all possible troubleshooting tips from the dell website (disconnecting all power and hold power button, reconnect to power, checked battery with the button on the battery, all fine, can't get into bios because computer doesn't start at all) but nothing works. Recently I also checked if the motherboard is connected properly and there is no issue either.
I also purchased a new dell adapter because my old one was a little bit damaged. The adapter is like the old one, and it's originally dell and the correct one for the studio 1555 so it can't be the adapter. Laptop also doesn't start when the battery is not in and it's only connected to the power.

Jan 18, 2015I bought a brand new dell xps 12 about two months ago and the past month when I go to turn on my computer it takes multiple switches of the power button to turn on the computer. At first, I would flip the power switch and it would show the dell logo on the screen sound like it was powering up and then stop. I would hit the switch again and it would power up as normal. Now it's taking at least five times before it boots up normally. Is there something wrong with my hardware and is this a normal problem with the dell xps 12's?

Apr 2, 2013My laptop will not turn on at all. The only 'signs of life' I get is the power button and the first of the laptop lights turning on for the briefest fraction of a second when I attempt turning it on (this itself only happens some of the time, not always).
Throughout Sunday computer had been telling to restart to properly install [those pesky] windows updates. When I first tried turning on my computer come monday, I got the standard 'configuring' prior to start up, and then laptop shut down. Trying to turn it on again led me to the black screen telling me that windows failed to start up properly. I attempt to launch windows, but this went to system restore (last saved moment) and this failed. In fact this was the last time my computer was really and truly on.
From then on is the situation I have now - not turning on at all except for the occasional slight flicker in the power button. (I have tried different AC adapters and powering up with and without battery, to no avail.)If it counts for anything, my fan has been becoming very, very loud recently.

Mar 19, 2013Inspiron N5010 does nothing when power button pressed, if power cord is attached then blue charging light goes out indicating that power unit has been overloaded and tripped out. If power lead is unplugged from laptop and mains supply, then plugged into mains again power is restored to adaptor and blue light on lead lights up again. Using Dell manual I have stripped laptop down to component parts. If mains adaptor is plugged into I/O board then charging light on lead remains lit. When motherboard ( including CPU ) is remounted onto I/O board, when mains adaptor is plugged in charging light goes out. Motherboard does not show any burnt area's or signs of damage to any component. Tried all versions of static discharge to laptop before stripping down without success. If the only solution is to replace Motherboard how can I order. The existing board includes 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD550v Graphics. The laptop is out of warranty.

Mar 13, 2013Laptop recently started playing up. I'm using a Inspiron 15R N5110.
If I turn the laptop off by going: Start, turn off, the display turns off but I can hear the fans still running. The only to turn it off is to hold down the power button.
Also if I shut my laptop lid the screen turns off but once again the fans are still running(doesn't go into to sleep mode). If I then re-open my laptop the display doesn't turn back on I have to hold the power button and then turn it back on.

Jan 27, 2013can't get my laptop to boot up/start. No sounds. No beeps. No nothing. Power cord indicates it is working fine. Battery should be charged since I rarely operate it under the battery. Has been running fine, no problems, I paused a movie and since then it is completely dark and not operating. Really disappointing since it is my main computer that I use every day.

A day or 2 later when i tried it again it this time turned on and was working fine all day (about 12 hours) untill i accidentally pulled out the AC plug in the back and it turned off and now wont switch on at all. Nov 22, 2014I've had my laptop for about a three weeks now. Last night, I shut the lid to put it to sleep and went out for a few hours, leaving the lap top plugged in.
When I came home, the laptop wouldn't turn on. I looked online, found to take out the battery, hold the power button down for 30 sec, put the battery back in, then plug it in again, nothing worked.
I left the battery out over night, then did the same thing -- no go.
The computer has been plugged in for about an hour now, still nothing.
There are no lights on the laptop itself, the green light is on the AC adapter and I also plugged in the adapter into another computer and it worked with that.
Running on Windows 7, Inspiron 17 5748 -- still under warranty.

After pressing the 'on' button, the cd drive flashes and makes a noise, like it normally does when I switch the laptop on. Then nothing happens for a whole minute, and then a loud repetitive beep starts. It's 4 beeps in a row, which then gets repeated.
