Dell Inspiron 5110 :: Laptop Gives 8 Beeps While Start Up
Feb 27, 2013My Dell laptop 5110 gives 8 beeps continuously after small intervals. Everything else is fine.
How to get rid of this, i have changed its RAM too but problem is still intact.

Feb 5, 2013I have dell inspiron 5110 core i5. from last few days its giving continuous 8 beeps repeatedly before login screen appears. then it stops beeping . but sometime it keeps beeping after proper start up in repeated sets of 8 beeps ...before start up the beep sound come from laptop speakers then stops .but if continue to beep ..then sound only come in headsets . i have no problem with my laptop LCD display and neither i am using any external display.

Mar 6, 2013My Inspiron M5030 laptop was working perfectly fine last night. It was plugged in all night, and I had done the usual hibernate/sleep mode before going to bed. When I tried to start it up this morning, the screen remained black. It made the startup fan noise but then that stopped. Then it gave seven quite loud beeps. If I don't turn it off, it continues to give the seven beeps separated by a short break.

I turned it off and press f12 and changed the reboot default to Hard Drive, again 2 beeps and same black page with same errors.

Nov 30, 2014When I start my laptop, I hear 8 beeps and nothing appears on screen. This keeps on happening until I keep it upside down for 2-3 minutes. Than after it startups normally and works fine. This happens everytime I start my laptop.

However i changed the coin cell battery twice and nothing change still beeps. So i updated the BIOS but unfortunately didn't work. More over i did a system restore to a windows update a week ago also still beeps at startup.

Nov 8, 2014My dell Inspiron 15R (5521) is no longer working. It started one day when we my wife was using the laptop and it started beeping and shut down. I thought it was the battery because when I plugged in the AC adapter the light on the end of the AC adapter plug would go out. I figured the battery was shorted. I bought a new battery and it took about 5 days to come in. After a day or so I tried using the laptop again with the original battery and it worked. When the new battery came in I swapped them out and after 3-4 days it failed again. Now it doesn't work at all with either battery. It will turn on but the screen is black. I tried booting it up while holding down the Fn key to go into diagnostic mode. After the fan kits on I get a sequence of beeps and tones. I've attached a video to show you the sequence. Basically it has 6 beeps than 10 beeps than 3 sets of 3 beeps followed by a tone than it does the 3 sets of 3 beeps again and again.

May 23, 2012I have a dell inspiron n5040 . Its only 1 month old.since 2days ago everytime i try to turn it on all i get is a blank screen with audio of 7 beeps a pause then 7 more and so on. I have read a few posts about taking the battery out and pressing the power button for 30 secs and also trying with just the ac power, I don't think this works for my problem. The power and battery lights comes on and the disk holder flashes. So my problem is I TURN ON MY LAPTOP AND THE SCREEN IS BLANK,I HEAR 7 BEEPS ETC.

I also noticed that the bottom left of the screen disattached, but I was able to put it back in. I understand that 8 beeps mean LCD failure. Oct 18, 2014I've had this laptop for 2-3 years and It had a motherboard issue within the first month of getting it, I got a new motherboard and all was dandy, but now there is apparently a system timer failure. The only thing plugged in to it is my charger and the last time I used it I didn't even have internet I just watched a few shows that I had on it and then I closed it when it was running out of power. When I hit the power button it seems like its going to start, and the buttons on it light up and then it starts to beep four times then a break then repeated four times. Apr 28, 2013My Dell Studio 1555 won't start anymore. When I want to turn it on, I get a beeping signal (2 beeps) and nothing happens. I tried all possible troubleshooting tips from the dell website (disconnecting all power and hold power button, reconnect to power, checked battery with the button on the battery, all fine, can't get into bios because computer doesn't start at all) but nothing works. Recently I also checked if the motherboard is connected properly and there is no issue either.
I also purchased a new dell adapter because my old one was a little bit damaged. The adapter is like the old one, and it's originally dell and the correct one for the studio 1555 so it can't be the adapter. Laptop also doesn't start when the battery is not in and it's only connected to the power.

After pressing the 'on' button, the cd drive flashes and makes a noise, like it normally does when I switch the laptop on. Then nothing happens for a whole minute, and then a loud repetitive beep starts. It's 4 beeps in a row, which then gets repeated. I have let the beep continue, but it doesn't seem to stop, unless I either press the 'on' button again or take the battery out.

Apr 29, 2013I have the Inspiron 15R 5110, however recently it just stopped working. I have tried all the suggestions (removing battery & power chord then pressing power button for 30 sec etc. Nothing works and it won't power up). The power button light comes on when pressed (while connected to AC or without AC). The other lights flicker and then nothing. After 10 seconds a repeated cycle of 3 beeps begins. I don't want to waste money on a new battery in case the problem is actually (probably) the motherboard. Can I purchase a new motherboard? How much? Machine is 2 years old bought new from Dell.
