I have a laptop that won't boot.
After turning it on, the screen remains blank and I get 3 beeps every 5-10 seconds.
Unfortunately the laptop is a month out of warranty.
I understand this is a processor problem. I powered off, disconnected battery, drained all power, still won't power on. Is there anything else I can try?

I haven't changed the cable though. Do you think I have problem With the mother board. The laptop has 1gb ati graphic card.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI fitted a new LCD panel to an Inspiron 3520. Upon boot, it showed the Dell logo, then went all white and then displayed a grid made up of RGB pixels across the screen. I checked the panel was connected properly and the tried to reboot but now the screen doesn't power up at all. The laptop also now plays 4 beeps while trying to boot. I've tried connecting an external monitor, but it also does not display anything an plays the 4 beeps.

I am very upset that my expensive Dell laptop has stopped working when it's less than 2 years old. When I turn it on it beeps 8 times and does this over and over Nothing comes up on screen just black? A friend said I need a new board thing as video card is on that.

However i changed the coin cell battery twice and nothing change still beeps. So i updated the BIOS but unfortunately didn't work. Did that and it also said it passed. I did a code search and have not been able to fing anything with 5 beeps, 5 times in a row.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy Dell N5110 is about 14 months old - Windows 7, 650GB HD, 8GB RAM (originally 6GB before I upgraded the memory chip). Up until about 2/2/13, I was able to turn it on, put it in hibernation, etc., but suddenly, I could not turn it on (I had it plugged in overnight, perhaps it was in Sleep mode). I saw no lights, no beeps, no black screen as described by others - just empty screen, no power, nothing.
I waited over a week before I decided to bring it in to get service (my schedule didn't permit me to do so earlier). In the meantime, I kept trying everyday to get it work - I removed the battery, I reseated the memory chips, I clicked the power button on for multiple times, held it down for 30+ seconds, clicked every key on the keyboard, used two different power adapters (one had a blue light to indicate that it was powered), tried to used the AC adapter without a battery, all to no avail.
Eight days after the initial discovery (and a few days before I had planned to bring it in), I tried once more - removed the battery, reseated the memory chips, et. al. and then clicked the power switch (did not use a power supply). Unbelievably, IT TURNED ON! I was so shocked that I immediately took all of my personal information right off and did not turn it off again until I had cleaned the hard drive off. I reluctantly shut down the PC and was able to restart it again! And it was working fine until just this past Friday (3/29/13) where it is now dead again. I think that it went into sleep mode as I just closed the monitor and I saw the lights go off.
I have a feeling that my machine went into sleep mode and it still "thinks" it is sleeping and it can't be turned back on. Perhaps what I saw earlier was the complete draining of the power resources which rendered the machine completely cold so it was able to restart? Was there a Microsoft service release that could have caused this to happen? I have not changed my power settings to prevent the machine from sleeping but if I can get it restarted again, I will definitely change the setting.
I've just dropped my laptop (dell inspirion n5110) while it was on (about a feet) and now it's beeping. I also noticed that the bottom left of the screen disattached, but I was able to put it back in. I understand that 8 beeps mean LCD failure. I've tried to do the test run by pressing "D" but nothing shows up, only a white screen.

Now after some research I found out that the five beeps indicate problem with the CMOS battery, Am I right? And if so then why don't the beeps stick, why do they only happen at random? Why do they go away by restarting the system?I'm just wondering if this really is the battery or something else? And If I should replace it.

There have been no other errors or performance issues until now. When she tried to reboot, the laptop just gave 7 loud beeps over and over. Disconnected the power cord, removed battery, held start button down for 30 secs, tried to reboot, but got the same result.

I have a DELL Inspiron M5030 laptop.
The computer won't boot up. I receive 7 beeps and the screen remains blank.
Dell Inspiron 1546... Has the old no video and FN - F5 at boot 6 or 7 beeps...
Is it video or motherboard?
Computer boots no video then shuts off by it's self in about 1 min.
This was my backup laptop and my main one was a HP with a 17 inch screen that the GPU went out due to a shim was needed between the GPU and Heat Sink, now I wonder if this is the same trouble with my Dell!
Today my laptop didn't boot from standby. It had been in standby mode since last night.
It will not respond to any button presses and the power light is pulsing. The light with the spanner in it is constantly lit also. Ive tried removing the battery, only using AC etc. Ive held the power button for more than 30 seconds but nothing gets a response.
My Inspiron 15 3521 just started with the boot problems and beeping. It is not consistent in when it will boot up. If it doesn't boot up, which is most of the time, it will beep. One single beep about every 2 seconds with a black screen, until I power it off. I have run hardware diagnostics and it passed. I have refreshed my pc, didn't work.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron 5521 that is about a year and a half old. In the last two weeks, it's begun to make a beeping noise and will not boot up. As far as I can tell, there's no pattern or end to the beeps -- it's just one beep continuously. The longest I've let it beep before I couldn't stand it anymore and popped the battery out was 25 beeps. There are about two and a half seconds in between each beep. Up until very recently, taking the battery out and putting it back in seemed to solve the problem, but that no longer seems to work.
I've researched beep codes but can't seem to find one matching that description.
Running Windows 7. The BIOS version and date is Dell Inc. A05, 1/3/2013, SMBIOS Version 207.

what does this mean?
can i still use the HDD or do i need to buy a new one?
can i still recover my files?
