I have dell insp n5010. Recently it started giving 8beeps. It displays when I use external Monitor. I changed the LCD yet the problem still persists. I haven't changed the cable though. Do you think I have problem With the mother board. The laptop has 1gb ati graphic card.

I understand this is a processor problem. I powered off, disconnected battery, drained all power, still won't power on. Is there anything else I can try?

After turning it on, the screen remains blank and I get 3 beeps every 5-10 seconds.
Unfortunately the laptop is a month out of warranty.
My dell inspiron 5520 beeps when I turn it on. It is a series of 4 beeps, 4 beeps and 3 beeps. It shut's down when it's on the battery. When I have it on the mains power after the first three series of beeps it shuts down but 15 seconds later it reboots and continues the beeping, this time it is 4 beeps, 4 beeps, 4 beeps constantly until I turn off the mains supply.
They are short beeps, lasting for 2 seconds for the 4 beeps. The gap between the series of beeps is also 2 seconds. Recently it has been left in a room that has no heating and it has been quite cold lately, if that has any effect on it.
i have a dell inspiron 3000s laptop, the machines felt and the screen & data cable are broken so when i power on the machine is giving 8 beeps repeatedly and the machines does not display what could be the problem.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a 1 year old dell inspiron 5520 and about a month or two back, the display started showing white lines at the top and bottom. One day, it stopped working and we gave it to this tech guy. He replaced the motherboard and battery(The laptop worked but was noticeably slower). The white lines still existed and the screen started jumping up and down. Changing the refresh rate worked temporarily. And then my mother gave it to the tech guy again. She got suspicious of him and asked him to return it. And he did but now, the laptop display won't boot and there's the 8 beeps. I connected the laptop to our properly working PC monitor to see if it was the laptop's display's fault. But, it still gives 8 beeps and the monitor shows a blank black screen.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently changed the screens on my laptop without difficulty. The next day i went to classes and brought my laptop since it was now fixed. When i went to turn it on it was very dark and i couldn't adjust the brightness. I couldn't get pass the log on screen so i held down the power button but it would not turn off so i took out the battery. I put the battery back in and left the laptop alone till i got home. I thought that the problem with the screen was a wire came loose or something of that nature so i took apart the screen and made sure everything was plugged in. I put it back together and put the battery back in and went to turn it on to see if the screen problem was resolved and it wouldn't boot or anything. I don't get any beeps, fans, or lights that turn on.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a problem turning on my dell n5010 laptop with win7/ubuntu dual boot , I was doing some blogging using ubuntu and I went to have lunch and left it on but when I got back I found my laptop dead with the black screen and not turning on again with only the power led always on then the hdd led for a few seconds but not hearing any beeps and not seeing anything on the screen.
I have followed some solutions posted before but none of them worked.
1 - I tried to remove battery , ac and press power button to drain static electricity then trying to boot with ac adapter only but it didn't work.
2 - I tried the LCD test and tried an external monitor but neither works.
3 - I tried removing the memory modules , cleaning and reinserting but no change.
3 - I tried Dell Diagnositic but the only difference was that I heard 7 repetitive beeps when on the mode but not seeing anything on the screen .
The 7 beeps means CPU crash test failure and the processor needs replaced.
Unfortunately, our laptop is out of warranty and Dell will charge me to have the processor replaced. My son has learning disabilities and requires this computer as it has programs that he needs for school that we don't have the disks for. I'm incredibly frustrated that Dell will not fix the processor without charge. After the very long and frustrating discussion with the Dell representative, we have decided that we will never purchase another Dell product. I will not be having the laptop fixed as I refuse to pay for repairs for an inferior product. If it was to be fixed and overheated again and damaged the processor, they will only provide a 90 day warranty for the replacement processor.
I will now have to purchase another laptop for my son and try and obtain the programs that he needs through the school board. However, all of his voice files are lost and he will have to spend hours retraining the new programs which will cause him much frustration.
I have a dell Inspiron 15 N5010 which is about 4 years old. It was working properly, but suddenly it went off and when i restarted it, there was nothing which appeared on screen, but there was a beep sound which went on until i turned my laptop off. Even the startup screen didnt appeared during this. The power button lights up, fan is running, but the screen is not coming up.
I have noticed one thing also, if i put it on for long time, so that it gains enough heat due to constatnt running and then I restart it, the screen will come. and after sometime, the screen distorts and after few seconds, the laptop screen turns black and the beep sound appears which start crying until i turn laptop off.
I am working on my mom's Dell Inspiron n5010 Laptop. I have replaced motherboard, LCD and video/camera cable. Still getting 8 beeps until windows starts up. The video test worked fine on LCD.Flashed BIOS to A15, updated video drivers. Not sure what is still causing issue. I have also removed memory and replaced it. I am at my wits end.

This week I took delivery of an Inspiron 7000 laptop for my daughter, and some of the keyboard symbols are typing incorrectly. EG when hitting the " key she get the @ symbol, the @ symbol is giving the british pound symbol, and maybe one or two others are incorrect (I am at work at present and don't have the laptop with me to give all the wrong keys).

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a 17 Inch Inspiron R Se that I purchased in January...it has started booting to a black screen...if I press the power button again to turn it off then back on it boots fine...it is very annoying seeing as it is almost new...I had the same issue a couple of weeks after getting it and did the computer renew thing which fixed it (until now) but I don't want to do that again as I have a ton of stuff on it now that I don't want to mess with and have to reload etc...
I tried the hard reset and it did absolutely nothing...ran the diagnostics and everything passed.
I recently purchased my laptop about 3 months ago and had no problem with it. But when I went to go turn it on one morning it started beeping 7 long beeps. I did some research and found out that it is a problem with my processor. How do I fix this problem? Or will I need to return it to the place I bought it? I have some important stuff on my hard drive that I wish to keep if possible.

They blinked for about 2-3 seconds and stopped. View 5 Replies View RelatedInspiron N5010 does nothing when power button pressed, if power cord is attached then blue charging light goes out indicating that power unit has been overloaded and tripped out. If power lead is unplugged from laptop and mains supply, then plugged into mains again power is restored to adaptor and blue light on lead lights up again. Using Dell manual I have stripped laptop down to component parts. If mains adaptor is plugged into I/O board then charging light on lead remains lit. When motherboard ( including CPU ) is remounted onto I/O board, when mains adaptor is plugged in charging light goes out. Motherboard does not show any burnt area's or signs of damage to any component. Tried all versions of static discharge to laptop before stripping down without success. If the only solution is to replace Motherboard how can I order. The existing board includes 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD550v Graphics. The laptop is out of warranty.

I have a Dell Inspiron N5010 laptop running Windows7, and it automatically powers off when I login to my computer.
I tried to run Diagnostics but it will not complete as laptop crashes within 30 seconds or so of logging in. As it crashes there is an audible click.
This happens both when the laptop is on AC Power and Battery, and in safe mode or starting normally.
