I was using my Dell Inspiron n5110, while suddenly it shut down. I pressed the power button and then the light indicators strated blinking. They blinked for about 2-3 seconds and stopped. After 5 seconds they started blinking again and again and this continued for about half a minute, when suddenly a cracking sound appeared and the laptop started smoking from the speakers holes.

View 1 Replies View Relatedmy laptop is dell n5110 i5.when i push the button to turn on the laptop nothing happens! i checked the charger and the battery in an another laptop and there was no issue with them but when i plug the charger to my laptop the green light on the charger turns off immediately and the same thing happens with other charger! it must be a short circuit! i tried to remove the battery and the charger and to hold the button for 10 sec like described in a video i found in dell support but the problem persists! is it a problem with the dc card on my mother board?

If I turn the laptop off by going: Start, turn off, the display turns off but I can hear the fans still running. The only to turn it off is to hold down the power button.
Also if I shut my laptop lid the screen turns off but once again the fans are still running(doesn't go into to sleep mode). If I then re-open my laptop the display doesn't turn back on I have to hold the power button and then turn it back on.
I have a dell inspiron N5110 laptop.It switches off randomly when i say switches off it doesn't go to the shutdown mode it just switches off. I have run the diagnostics and everything is fine BIOS is completely up to date and there are no heating issues it sometimes switches off right after i switch it on. My warranty has expired .

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy dell inspiron 5520 beeps when I turn it on. It is a series of 4 beeps, 4 beeps and 3 beeps. It shut's down when it's on the battery. When I have it on the mains power after the first three series of beeps it shuts down but 15 seconds later it reboots and continues the beeping, this time it is 4 beeps, 4 beeps, 4 beeps constantly until I turn off the mains supply.
They are short beeps, lasting for 2 seconds for the 4 beeps. The gap between the series of beeps is also 2 seconds. Recently it has been left in a room that has no heating and it has been quite cold lately, if that has any effect on it.
I have dell insp n5010. Recently it started giving 8beeps. It displays when I use external Monitor. I changed the LCD yet the problem still persists. I haven't changed the cable though. Do you think I have problem With the mother board. The laptop has 1gb ati graphic card.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a 17 Inch Inspiron R Se that I purchased in January...it has started booting to a black screen...if I press the power button again to turn it off then back on it boots fine...it is very annoying seeing as it is almost new...I had the same issue a couple of weeks after getting it and did the computer renew thing which fixed it (until now) but I don't want to do that again as I have a ton of stuff on it now that I don't want to mess with and have to reload etc...
I tried the hard reset and it did absolutely nothing...ran the diagnostics and everything passed.

I recently purchased my laptop about 3 months ago and had no problem with it. But when I went to go turn it on one morning it started beeping 7 long beeps. What appears to be an air-intake right below where the fan should be (right hand side, close to camera), is only a ribbed area in solid plastics. This is where all other laptops I have seen have their main intake holes for air. The 5536G however has to rely on the small intake holes on the hatch to the left (which conseals the RAM) and a another equally small air intake in the front (you can just about see it in the pic).
Now the question is, will I lower the temps by drilling a few holes right below the center of the fan to let some cold air in, or will I completely mess up the chassis airflow which Acers engineers have carefully crafted? As far as I understand, laptops use radial fans, and cold air should be supplied in the center of the fan. The way it is now seems to work against that idea: cold air has to somehow be sucked through the spinning fanblades, not enter it from the center (no hole there!).
I am getting temps around 95 degrees C under load (2.2 GHz Turion), undervolting lowered that to about 83.
My dell inspiron 3250 started to shut down automatically these days. When i ran the Diagnostics its showing an error code : 2000-0511, Validation: 78746 .
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a 1 year old dell inspiron 5520 and about a month or two back, the display started showing white lines at the top and bottom. One day, it stopped working and we gave it to this tech guy. He replaced the motherboard and battery(The laptop worked but was noticeably slower). The white lines still existed and the screen started jumping up and down. Changing the refresh rate worked temporarily. And then my mother gave it to the tech guy again. She got suspicious of him and asked him to return it. And he did but now, the laptop display won't boot and there's the 8 beeps. I connected the laptop to our properly working PC monitor to see if it was the laptop's display's fault. But, it still gives 8 beeps and the monitor shows a blank black screen.

I am facing a strange problem with my Inspiron 6400, a tick sound is heard from the laptop internal speakers everytime I press a key on keyboard OR even if I press a multimedia key provided at the front of the laptop. This has never happened before and I am unable to fix it.
The sound starts coming as soon as the system boots up. I have both Vista and XP installed so I get an option to select the OS I want to choose on startup. I hear the sound on pressing any key of keyboard even at this stage before selecting the OS. This confirms that it has nothing to do with the OS but is something wrong at the hardware level or BIOS, which I want to find out and need your help.
Two days back there was a Blue screen with some error (which I couldn't recall) and the problem started after that. It asked me to shutdown the machine to prevent further damage. I forcefully shut it down and then it wouldn't boot until I pressed the ESC key several times. However after that, the system is booting up normally but the sound keeps coming. How annoying it is.
I tried muting the internal PC speakers from Vista/XP but to no avail.
I have updated my HP Pavilion dv4 1220 US to Windows 7 (64 bit). Every components are working properly. However, my internal speakers does not working. My laptop sound only with a headphones or external speakers.
