Dell Vostro 3550 :: When Turn On Laptop Loud Beeps Play
Feb 9, 2013I bought a Vostro 3550 almost one year ago. About two weeks ago, most times I turn on the laptop, some loud beeps play (probably some warning beeps), but now, those beeps still make their presence, in lower intensity, during the usage of the machine. It is really irritating. I do not have a clue about what to look for or what it can be.

I did some research and found out that it is a problem with my processor. How do I fix this problem? Or will I need to return it to the place I bought it? I have some important stuff on my hard drive that I wish to keep if possible.

1 USB LEFT (USB 2.0/ SATA) WORKS
Why not the other. I even updated BIOS.

Dell Vostro 3550 :: Screen Turned Black And Was All Static
Apr 8, 2013I have a Vostro 3550 and it is not even a year old. Last night I was typing an email and all of a sudden the screen turned black and was all static. This morning I was having difficulty turning it on but saw the boot screen and hit Enter to Boot normally. Then it went static again. I have tried turning it on with and without the power cord plugged in. I no longer can get it to even load to the boot screen.

Everytime i shut it down, windows shuts down correctly and the screen goes blank, BUT the power led still burns.
Also the power button is still lighted.
I can't switch it on using the power button. I've to unplug power or hold the power button for 4 sec.
Hardware test runs fine, no problems so far at all.
Nothing changed, only updates for windows.

Apr 1, 2013I have a Dell Vostro 3550 that I booted up this morning and received 8 beeps on startup with no video being displayed. After reading the forums here is what I have done and the reults:
Boot up with External Monitor
Can log in and run computer, laptop still beeps 8 times for several times then stops beeping
Drain residual power from the laptop
Restart computer and still beeps 8 times without vidoe
Run LCD BIST
Nothing displayed.
Run F12 Diagnostics
Error Code: 2000-0415
Validation: 58622
I am assuming I have a faulty LCD Screen and/or cable but want to be sure of this before spending the money as this laptop is no longer under warranty.

Mar 8, 2013i recently installed windows 8 pro on my dell vostro 3550 laptop. i was facing with overheating and battery drain issues. i read in dell forums that dell resolved battery drain issue in bios update and now my current bios version is A10. but problem is i saw in other dell thread that A11 has some flaw in it and not advisable to update and that too previously my bios update failed and dell replaced my Motherboard. so how can i overcome overheating and battery drain issues ?

Jan 3, 2015Because of a virus, I recently had to reinstall Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. I have gotten everything else working except the fingerprint reader.I have installed the Validity Fingerprint Reader driver from the Dell Support site. The fingerprint reader shows up in the Device Manager. However, the Biometric Devices applet doesn't appear in the Control Panel.
I tried letting Windows update detect the fingerprint reader. It installed a driver for a Synaptics device. This was enough to get the Biometric Devices applet to appear in the Control Panel. However, when I tried to configure the fingerprint reader, I got an error saying no fingerprint management software was installed. I have seen lots of posts online directing me to validityinc.com for drivers or the DigitalPersona software, but Validity Inc. seems to have gone out of business. The DigitalPersona software is available on the Dell Support site for my service tag.
I have even tried installing the Windows 8 Validity Sensor Driver for my laptop, but though it successfully installs, it produces the same results.

Acer :: 3690 Beeping At Start
Apr 12, 2009A friend has a 3690. Haven't seen it, but this is what they describe as happening.
Sometimes! on startup four? beeps are heard and nothing appears on screen. Turn off/on again and it will most likely boot into Windows BUT the clock is wrong, reverts to July 2005 I think. Reset the clock and all OK, until the next time it happens.
Somedays it behaves, other times not so, maybe doing this twice in a day.
As the clock is wrong does this perhaps point to the CMOS backup battery?
Any other checks we can do?
Would entering the BIOS at start up ? "F2" prove anything. I know it's difficult when its not in front of you.

Yesterday, I finished my work and hibernated my computer. When I came back, I could not turn on the computer. It goes automatically to a black screen and after 15 seconds I hear beeping noises. It's one long beep followed by 2 quickly beeps. Rebooting just repeats this process.

It tells me that 3 beeps mean module problems. So i ended up testing both my memory sticks in a different laptop and they were fine. And I tested both individual pavilion memory slots, and still got the same 3 beep black screen on both. iif i was to have no memory sticks in, i still get a black screen but a different set of beeping noises, not sure if a laptop can run without memory sticks, but i figured i check)
Has anyone had a similar beeping noise black screen problem at startup?

Jan 19, 2015Have Inspiron 3520 with W8 - daughter has infected it via Minecraft update. Original issue was dark screen and beeping, 8 at a time. Put on a external monitor and am going through the long process of digging out the bugs with anti-virus and malware removal programs.
Question is this - how can I stop the infernal beeping? It starts up if I insert the power cord or disconnect/connect the external monitor. Is there any way to silence it?
