my Dell N5040 is beeping 8 times (3 times) before start-up
Somethings it starts, sometimes it doesn't

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy laptop is just under 3 years old (seems I've done well that it lasted this long!).
I'm more than a little fed up as my old Dell was purchased in 2003 and is still working. I'm not hard on my laptop - it's never taken from home, maintained well and on my last de-frag (2 nights ago), it was in good health with only a quarter of the memory used.
I was told by Trading Standards that I should complain directly to Dell as under the Sale of Goods Act, I should expect something like this to last longer than this. They were interested to here that it seems to be a common fault in the US, too.
What are the chances of getting this repaired? Will I have lost everything on it? How much will a repair cost? Should I just bite the bullet and buy a new laptop?

I did some research and found out that it is a problem with my processor. How do I fix this problem? Or will I need to return it to the place I bought it? The laptop is in perfect condition (no drops/spills/never had a virus)
Earlier today I pressed the "fn" key and quickly pressed all the "f1 through f12" buttons when i turned on the power and It worked but after about 40 minutes i put the computer to sleep the problem started again. The "fn" thing did not work anymore even after numerous times...
My dell Inspiron N5110 Beeps 5 times, stop, 5 beeps,stop then the windows open normally and every thing is fine. However i changed the coin cell battery twice and nothing change still beeps. So i updated the BIOS but unfortunately didn't work. More over i did a system restore to a windows update a week ago also still beeps at startup.

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy Inspiron M5030 laptop was working perfectly fine last night. It was plugged in all night, and I had done the usual hibernate/sleep mode before going to bed. When I tried to start it up this morning, the screen remained black. It made the startup fan noise but then that stopped. Then it gave seven quite loud beeps. If I don't turn it off, it continues to give the seven beeps separated by a short break.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Dell Studio 1555 won't start anymore. When I want to turn it on, I get a beeping signal (2 beeps) and nothing happens. I tried all possible troubleshooting tips from the dell website (disconnecting all power and hold power button, reconnect to power, checked battery with the button on the battery, all fine, can't get into bios because computer doesn't start at all) but nothing works. Recently I also checked if the motherboard is connected properly and there is no issue either.
I also purchased a new dell adapter because my old one was a little bit damaged. The adapter is like the old one, and it's originally dell and the correct one for the studio 1555 so it can't be the adapter. Laptop also doesn't start when the battery is not in and it's only connected to the power.
Last night, I restarted my xps and it took forever to start back up again. After the pretty vista screen, it sits there for at least 5 minutes, then the login screen pops up,

If people could post the boot times of their Z with this information:
- Whether you're calculating the boot with all the bloatware untouched (factory settings), with the $50 Sony Fresh Start (which still has a couple unnecessary programs), a Clean Install, or a Manual Uninstall of all programs.
- And the size of your SSD or HDD. If it is an SSD, it would be nice to know if you can tell us have many SSDs are in the RAID 0 configuration as that affects the speed.
I think this would be very helpful not just for direct comparison, but as another factor to consider in whether to do a clean install, which takes more tech-savvy than some may have.
i have a dell inspiron 15 which wont post .The unit is powered on the backlight is on but screen is blank (black) and then the dell just beeps 8 times and each beep is less louder than the last till it reaches the 8th beep.

Its only 1 month old.since 2days ago everytime i try to turn it on all i get is a blank screen with audio of 7 beeps a pause then 7 more and so on. I have read a few posts about taking the battery out and pressing the power button for 30 secs and also trying with just the ac power, I don't think this works for my problem.
