i have a dell inspiron 15 which wont post .The unit is powered on the backlight is on but screen is blank (black) and then the dell just beeps 8 times and each beep is less louder than the last till it reaches the 8th beep.

I already read other posts and have removed battery, power buttom for 30 seconds. etc. It didn't work and I have not tried anything else.
One post talked about removing/replace the internal battery and another talked about remove/replace memory.

My Inspiron M5030 laptop was working perfectly fine last night. It was plugged in all night, and I had done the usual hibernate/sleep mode before going to bed. When I tried to start it up this morning, the screen remained black. It made the startup fan noise but then that stopped. Then it gave seven quite loud beeps. If I don't turn it off, it continues to give the seven beeps separated by a short break.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Dell Inspiron M501R will no longer boot up - its shows a black screen and repeatedly beeps 7 times. I understand this means the mother board has failed. The service tag is <ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy> - its waranty has recently expired.
Interestingly, if you google "Inspiron M501R" google suggests "Inspiron M501R 7 beeps". So I'm guessing this laptop has been designed to fail soon after the waranty expires.
I have written a letter to BBC Watchdog asking how long a laptop can be "expected" to last and whether this would be covered by the UK Sale of Goods Act.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy Dell Studio 1555 won't start anymore. When I want to turn it on, I get a beeping signal (2 beeps) and nothing happens. I tried all possible troubleshooting tips from the dell website (disconnecting all power and hold power button, reconnect to power, checked battery with the button on the battery, all fine, can't get into bios because computer doesn't start at all) but nothing works. Recently I also checked if the motherboard is connected properly and there is no issue either.
I also purchased a new dell adapter because my old one was a little bit damaged. The adapter is like the old one, and it's originally dell and the correct one for the studio 1555 so it can't be the adapter. Laptop also doesn't start when the battery is not in and it's only connected to the power.
I've had this laptop for the best part of two months now and it has been excellent up to now. However, it has now shut down completely 4 times within the same day - with absolutely no warning. It doesn't feel as if it has overheated but I'm only touching the outer shell.

Well it was working for years and then I was playing games like league of legend, sims etc. It never shut down till I maybe late 2014. I would turn it on, everything is all good, I can log in. But maybe 5-10 maybe more minutes of being on, it goes black or a message comes up saying "the instruction at referenced memory at could not be written " I don't know what is happening or what I done wrong. I can't get a new laptop or anything due to money issues at the moment.
