Jan 28, 2014My laptop is just under 3 years old (seems I've done well that it lasted this long!).
I'm more than a little fed up as my old Dell was purchased in 2003 and is still working. I'm not hard on my laptop - it's never taken from home, maintained well and on my last de-frag (2 nights ago), it was in good health with only a quarter of the memory used.
I was told by Trading Standards that I should complain directly to Dell as under the Sale of Goods Act, I should expect something like this to last longer than this. They were interested to here that it seems to be a common fault in the US, too.
What are the chances of getting this repaired? Will I have lost everything on it? How much will a repair cost? Should I just bite the bullet and buy a new laptop?

Jan 30, 2013I recently purchased my laptop about 3 months ago and had no problem with it. But when I went to go turn it on one morning it started beeping 7 long beeps. I did some research and found out that it is a problem with my processor. How do I fix this problem? Or will I need to return it to the place I bought it? I have some important stuff on my hard drive that I wish to keep if possible.

Nov 1, 2012My laptop that I use for school started beeping today (7 times). I have been using it for a year and 3 months now (3 months out of warranty) and I don't know what to do.
The laptop is in perfect condition (no drops/spills/never had a virus)
Earlier today I pressed the "fn" key and quickly pressed all the "f1 through f12" buttons when i turned on the power and It worked but after about 40 minutes i put the computer to sleep the problem started again. The "fn" thing did not work anymore even after numerous times...

Casual web browsing, listening to music, and/or downloading files and cpu temp rises to mid 70° C and the fan starts humming pretty noticeably. If I try to do any gaming, PC hits 85°+ C, fans go crazy, and the laptop starts beeping. I really like this laptop, but I need it to be able to handle my day to day activities.

Dec 12, 2008XPS M1730, dell recently replaced mobo and vid cards (8800GTX SLI). For some reason the video cards down clock almost immediately upon boot. I'll start the system, run 3dMark06, it will get around 90fps at start then drop to 9fps and hover there. I have so far:
Reloaded Vista 32bit.
Tested Ram/SATA HDD, video cards, video system fans utilizing the F5 function and Dell's software.
Updated video drivers to 180.40
Also, there was a Blue Screen saying memory parity check error twice while trying to launch WoW. While gaming, I cannot hear the fans kick nor do I feel air coming out. WoW runs at about 16fps. I have set the system to performance in power settings as well.

Not even light.. but i already tested the screen to see if there any problem with it by pressing D+on button, it passes the test. The screen seems to be ok.. then i tried to pull the RAM, put it back, turn on, same problem still happened..

Jan 19, 2015I have a N5110 that just recently started acting up.When I turn it on, it shows me the dell screen and then it tries to boot windows but then it turns off right away. Sometimes it gets far enough to show me a black screen with white lettering that says windows boot manager and wants me to select windows 7 as the operating system but when I try to hit enter to select it, the laptop wont respond and it turns off.
I tried pressing f12 and running diagnostics. Sometimes it will respond and let me get to the blue boot device screen but then it stops responding and wont let me run the diagnostic, then it turns off.
This also happened yesterday but after a few tries i was able to run the diagnostic and it came back saying everything was great, then my laptop rebooted and worked just fine. But today when I try to turn it on it wont work, I have been at it for over an hour.also, when i try to boot it, it will sometimes give me beep codes: 2 beeps, then 1 long beep. It only has time to do this once before it turns off.

Apr 22, 2013I have problem with my dell 1525. After a full battery discharge, I plugged the power and tried to turn it on. All the lights turn on, but after a second it goes silent and I cannot see anything on the screen even the dell logo.
I also tried to remove the battery and the power cord, pressed the power button for 30sec, doesn't work.Later today I will try to remove the RAM and then install it one by one to see if the problem may be caused by bad RAM , but I doubt that this is the solution.

Feb 2, 2010I have a problem with gaming on the Inspiron 1521 laptop running on vista home prem. Ok, take any game that has some 3-D effects on it, when I play the game with the battery charger plugged into my laptop, the game starts and then it just freezes.
I have to hold the power button to get out of it, but when I take the battery charger out of the laptop and start the game, it works fine but a little slow. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this problem?

Jul 3, 2014I have an Inspiron 15R 5521 that is causing me no end of headache. When I try to boot it, it starts to boot (audibly you can hear the internal systems starting to go) but the screen stays black and after about 5 seconds, it starts beeping. It beeps continuously approximately once every 2-2.5 seconds, and I have counted up to about 30 beeps (it didn't stop beeping, it was just doing my head in).
It started about six months ago, doing it once when I tried to boot it, but pulling the battery fixed it. However, it got progressively worse until one night it simply wouldn't boot at all. A short-term fix was to mash F4 or F9 once the power button was pressed, but now even that doesn't work. I think it might be something in the boot sequence that causes it to fail...
