Not even light.. but i already tested the screen to see if there any problem with it by pressing D+on button, it passes the test. The screen seems to be ok.. then i tried to pull the RAM, put it back, turn on, same problem still happened..
View 15 Replies View RelatedMy dell laptop (M501R) suffered a Blue Screen and wouldn't reload windows. Eventually, I just re-installed windows (re-formatting the hard drive) but everything was running slowly after about a minute or two of running windows. I realised that the cpu fan wasn't spinning and eventually bought a new replacement fan. I changed the fan over but I still have the same problem.
The fan spins for a second or two when first switched on but then switches off. I updated the bios and as soon as the bios program began updating the bios, the fan kicked in at full speed until the bios was finished updating and then switched off again.
I've ran the Dell diagnostics program and the only faults picked up are related to the hard drive, something to do with SMART.
appearing wifi adapter is not installed at Inspiron 5420. Scanned and updated. But no difference.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have Inspiron 9300. Unfortunately, my geforce 6800 died and I bought as a replacement x300 which was installed by a laptop repair service (they fixed other thins too.
It was due to power surge). Everything works but when I boot up the computer or when the display is set to be turned off in the power settings in Windows instead of being actually turned off the display is on and is all white.
Also brightness regulation does not work via Fn +arrows keys and is set to maximum and the white color is so intense that I get a headache after a couple of hours staring at the screen.
I have recently purchased DELL Inspiron 14R 5420, which has preinstalled Windows 8. Later I came to know that some of my software are not working on the Windows 8.
Can I have multiple boots on my system. One Windows 7 and other Windows 8. Or can I create some disk for the installed windows 8 so that in future I can installed it again if I wish to.
My Inspiron N5010 laptop shut down after 5 minutes. I can not rum diagnostics test because system shut down automatically. My fan is not working.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI put the sims 3 in the computer, it loads to the main screen and the shuts down. It doesn't give any warning and does not restart. It also doesn't give a reason or notice as to why it shut down. The computer is not over-heating and I only have 1 expansion pack. Extra info: It is an 8GB RAM, intel core i5, is a 64-bit operating system, and Windows 8.

Set default power setting "Ballanced" but screen goes blank after 1 minute and 5 seconds not moving my mouse or depressing keyboard key on both battery power and plugged in. Screen should remain on 5 minutes on battery and 10 minutes plugged in. Tried resetting default power settings without success. Very distracting when trying to read anything that takes longer than 65 seconds.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have new n5520 ...and there is sound like mouse click every two minutes ..is it normal because of 1 tera hard drive or it is not and how can i know?
note :I do check disk for all drives -> pass
Short and complete diagnostic -->pass too
so what is this sound ?
My Inspiron 1545 use to randomly shuts down (direct shutdown), I think i was due to over heating because i could feel the bottom of the laptop get really hot, so i started to have the laptop elevated for better air flow, that worked for a little while but then it would have the same problem, i have not cleaned the inside of the laptop or ever opened it, but i plan to do it to see whats going on, i don't think i have a warranty on it anymore so i think will experiment, but before i do that, i wanted to know what could be the cause of this problem, my best guess is i need to clean it or replace the CPU fan.
Also, I left my laptop in the car overnight and i was really cold out, after that night, now the laptop doesn't stay on more than 2 mins.....
Dell Inspiron(14z)- 5423 severe heating problems.
On on Dell Inspiron(14z)- 5423, I observe that the heating severe, it becomes severe within 15 min after boot-up. Is there any solution to reduce the heating of the deceive. Left side of the key board, in and around the power button and bottom side of the power button, near the fan outlet etc goes to high temperature.
Dell Inspiron(14z)- 5423 severe battery problems.
On on Dell Inspiron(14z)- 5423, I observe that the battery back-up is very very low, I think i get a back-up around 70-80 min. It very disappointing. Does Dell has any solutions to improve this?
Above two problems are really disappointing me and I think that these two issues are really major pros of Dell-5423. It really critical.
3days back droped my laptop? My system is Dell Inspiron N5010, it has a i5 processor and 6 GB of DDR3 RAM.
Basically, here's what happens:
1. I press the button to turn on my laptop
2. Everything seems to work fine
3. sometimes windows properly startsup and after 5-10min my laptop unexpectedly turns off???
4. today i tried to diagnose my laptop.. when i press F12 and strat diagnose after 2mins it turns of automatically ??
I have dell inspiron 15R, 1TB HDD, i7 processor, windows 8.1. My C drive has 500GB(approx) memory out of which 200GB(approx) is free
It used to work fast but suddenly it became very slow. I tried restarting , it got shut down but was unable to start. So I ran diagnostic test which gave an error in hard disk with error code :2000-0142. The next morning I ran the diagnostic test again and it ran successfully without any error.
I formatted it from my recovery disk and it took me almost whole night as the formatting process was also very slow. My laptop still works very slow. It takes almost 15mins for start-up and my applications are also opening too slow.
I have a new Inspiron 15 (3521) running Windows 8.
I'm using it as a desktop replacement, so it's got an external keyboard/mouse/monitor plugged in, it's plugged into AC power, and I keep the lid closed.
I have the Windows power management set up so that if the laptop is on AC power, it should never go to sleep. I also have it so that if the lid is closed, nothing should happens.
So here's the problem: If I manually tell Windows to sleep, after I wake it up again, it'll go back to sleep on its own after 2 minutes of no activity. It'll keep doing that, until I open the lid and close it again, and then there won't be any problem until the next time I manually put Windows to sleep again. I can reproduce the problem every time. I'm not sure why it does this, or why it chooses 2 minutes of idle time before sleeping.
I've got the most recent BIOS and all the latest drivers from Dell.
Is this a known bug? Or is there something I'm missing? I couldn't find anything else in the Windows power management control panel, nor in the Intel graphics settings utility.
My Dell inspiron n5010(4 years old) is getting auto shutdown after 3-4 minutes.. I have noticed that my cooling fan is not working continuously... It frequently starts and working for 2-3 sec then again stops .. again after sometimes it gets started.... I have already opened up my laptop and cleaned all the dust ... but the story continues... should I have to replace heat-sink?

My laptop (Dell Inspiron 15 3521 model) was working fine until this week. It suddenly slowed down.
Once I turn it on, it works fine but after 30 mins - 1hr, it begins to slow down. While I type words on my keyboard, it would take a minute or so for them to appear on screen in MS Word. My browser would also slow down in loading. When I try to close programs, they would go "NOT RESPONDING" and when I try to open programs, it would take minutes for them to open up. I also tried plugging in a flash drive and the laptop took 3 minutes to recognize it.
What caused this sudden slow down? Is it because of an update? Or does my computer need repair? I've only used it for 7 months.
After connecting to the internet on my laptop(Dell inspiron 1525, Windows Vista), the internet connection will work great for 5 minutes or less than it slows down drastically or essentially not working at all. If I disconnect and reconnect it will work again but just for a short amount of time. The wireless connection works great on other laptops, tablets and mobile. I have Mcafee antivirus, and it could not detect any malware or viruses. Tried restoring the computer to factory settings and the internet stays connected for what seem a few minutes longer.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I turn on the laptop, it says something about checking some files (the first is NSTF files, and the second is OS files) and that it recommend that I do it but it would let me skip it also.
I would do both, skip and let it continue, but both would end up having a blank screen afterward. It was working fine before ....
I started my studio this morning and went away to do other things while it's booting... then I heard "scream" from my room and it took me a second to realize that it's from this brand new machine! Even my 3 years old laptop that has a really low level celeron processor and very little memory and is slow as hell has never done this in the past 3 years! So I ran in my room and checked what's going on. The scream already stopped but there's this blue screen asking me if I wanted to continue to boot to windows or do memory diagnosis So I hit the memory diagnosis and it took the thing forever to finish it. Then it went on to boot windows with a memory diagnosis report saying no error in memory was detected. Ok. That overall was kinda scary, especially considering I've only owned this thing for less than 5 days. :S I tried to think about what I did last night that may cause this... but I did normal surfing and video streaming and... then I downloaded firefox and installed the adobe flash player and I deleted a couple useless application that came with MSN. That's it.
So here's my question:
1. Has anyone else had this happened...?
2. Does this sound more like a software problem or hardware problem? Software problem, I can handle. Hardware problem, then it's a real problem.
I'm having this problem at the moment where *sometimes* the screen does not come on during bootup. "The lights are on, yet no-one is home".
If I'm lucky I will see the Dell splash screen and then it goes black but most of the time I get nothing. Strange thing is that the lights are on for the buttons (volume, play, etc) but the screen is not.
I know its not a Windows problem, because I can here the Windows startup sound being played. Its almost like the signal to turn the screen on is not working.
I have an M90 and it was good for the first two years and about 7 months ago it started to heat even when I wasn't playing games.
A lot of times it would shut off by itself. I now realize that it might be the dust bunnies that needed cleaning.
Thank you dell for pointing that out(sarcasm).... Now my lappy will only show the windows sign on bootup and go black after that.
Is my motherboard out also or just my graphics card? I'm hoping that I can put in a 7900gs after seeing the prices for a fx2500m .....
