View 5 RepliesI have a Dell Inspiron N5010 laptop. When i switch it on, there is no display and get I 3 beeps. The only led that is on is the one indicating that the power is on. The memory sticks are in a working condition (I checked it by inserting it in another laptop).

I've been researching why this laptop died so young and found this thread! I am a long time buyer of Dells and I am so upset that this laptop is barely 2 years old and already having such detrimental issues!!!
The laptop is out of warranty but a Dell laptop should not have such a major issue so young! 40 pages of the same issue?!?! Something needs to be done about these m5030s!!!

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy wife was surfing the net and watching TV last night when her Inspiron M5030 got the blue screen of death. There have been no other errors or performance issues until now. When she tried to reboot, the laptop just gave 7 loud beeps over and over. Disconnected the power cord, removed battery, held start button down for 30 secs, tried to reboot, but got the same result.

After browsing this forum I've found a lot of people have had the 7 beeps on start up issue with the M5030.
It seems that the 7 beeps on startup with a black screen, means a dead motherboard, which is sad as we just made the final payment on this Inspiron m5030 last month. I tried the "remove the battery/drain the residual power", that was suggested with no change.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought my Inspiron M5030 last November 2011. It lasted until December 29th 2012. I not only have many pictures and documents, I also have M$ Office and One Note, that I used as my primary phone contact list and password keeper.
I have used Dell desktops at the college I used to attend. The reason I chose Dell for my laptop was the good reputation that I thought Dell had.
Now I have a doorstop!! I also have phone numbers of my State Attorney General's office.
I am going to get the HDD out of the dead laptop and transfer my programs and data to a different, i.e. Not Dell, laptop.
At the moment, I am using a 6+ yr old desktop that has been used as a collector of items and even a coffee stand for my coffee maker.

I've tried taking the battery out and hold the power button for 2 minutes. After that I tried holding D and the power button but there was to change. I tried an external monitor which did not work either. There are no beeps. It if I leave the laptop switched on for a few mins I hear the windows start up tune.

When I tried to start it up this morning, the screen remained black. It made the startup fan noise but then that stopped. Then it gave seven quite loud beeps. If I don't turn it off, it continues to give the seven beeps separated by a short break.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy Dell Inspiron M5030 has suddenly come up with the dreaded black screen and 7 beep problem. Having looked at many sites on the internet it seems that this is a common problem with this particular model. I am aware that there are several unofficial and seemingly temporary 'fixes' to this error (involving removing the motherboard and placing it in the oven), but I am loathe to proceed down that particular road.
My question is:- Why has Dell not contacted owners of this model of Inspiron to advise that there is a problem and offer a fix to what is plainly an issue of poor manufacture? Searches on various sites shows that there are literally thousands of complaints similar to mine. This is not an isolated incident, and the solution seems to be contacting Dell Customer Services and being obstinate in refusing to pay for repair.
As other customers have had out of warranty repairs carried out free of charge, is this option available to everyone with a faulty Inspiron M5030?
Had this happen to me this morning. Guy in Dell centre said it was a processor failure.
Like others have said about their M5010's mine is a little over 2 years old and out of warranty.

My laptop will not boot up, just get the 7 beeps and a black screen. I have done research on this issue and it seems to be an ongoing problem with this laptop. If this is the case, this should be taken care of by Dell.

I have never had any major problems with this computer ever. always loved my dell. now i go to turn it on. and suddenly instead of the cute dell screen i got a black screen of death and the 7 beeps of death that woke my service dog up. now this would not be such a issue if this computer was not my actual disabled livelihood. it is no longer under warranty and of course after searching the internet it appears that dell knows of this issue with it. but it still does not see fit to recall them or replace them. of course they will charge you to turn it in and fix it temporary.

Just bought last Xmas.
Did all the diagnostic test...every pass. Still take 30 to bootup.
My dell laptop (M501R) suffered a Blue Screen and wouldn't reload windows. Eventually, I just re-installed windows (re-formatting the hard drive) but everything was running slowly after about a minute or two of running windows. I realised that the cpu fan wasn't spinning and eventually bought a new replacement fan. I changed the fan over but I still have the same problem.
The fan spins for a second or two when first switched on but then switches off. I updated the bios and as soon as the bios program began updating the bios, the fan kicked in at full speed until the bios was finished updating and then switched off again.
I've ran the Dell diagnostics program and the only faults picked up are related to the hard drive, something to do with SMART.
I have Inspiron 9300. Unfortunately, my geforce 6800 died and I bought as a replacement x300 which was installed by a laptop repair service (they fixed other thins too.
It was due to power surge). Everything works but when I boot up the computer or when the display is set to be turned off in the power settings in Windows instead of being actually turned off the display is on and is all white.
Also brightness regulation does not work via Fn +arrows keys and is set to maximum and the white color is so intense that I get a headache after a couple of hours staring at the screen.
