I have a Dell Inspiron N5010 laptop. When i switch it on, there is no display and get I 3 beeps. The only led that is on is the one indicating that the power is on. The memory sticks are in a working condition (I checked it by inserting it in another laptop).

I haven't changed the cable though. Do you think I have problem With the mother board. The laptop has 1gb ati graphic card.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently changed the screens on my laptop without difficulty. The next day i went to classes and brought my laptop since it was now fixed. When i went to turn it on it was very dark and i couldn't adjust the brightness. I couldn't get pass the log on screen so i held down the power button but it would not turn off so i took out the battery. I put the battery back in and left the laptop alone till i got home. I thought that the problem with the screen was a wire came loose or something of that nature so i took apart the screen and made sure everything was plugged in. I put it back together and put the battery back in and went to turn it on to see if the screen problem was resolved and it wouldn't boot or anything. I don't get any beeps, fans, or lights that turn on.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a problem turning on my dell n5010 laptop with win7/ubuntu dual boot , I was doing some blogging using ubuntu and I went to have lunch and left it on but when I got back I found my laptop dead with the black screen and not turning on again with only the power led always on then the hdd led for a few seconds but not hearing any beeps and not seeing anything on the screen.
I have followed some solutions posted before but none of them worked.
1 - I tried to remove battery , ac and press power button to drain static electricity then trying to boot with ac adapter only but it didn't work.
2 - I tried the LCD test and tried an external monitor but neither works.
3 - I tried removing the memory modules , cleaning and reinserting but no change.
3 - I tried Dell Diagnositic but the only difference was that I heard 7 repetitive beeps when on the mode but not seeing anything on the screen .
The 7 beeps means CPU crash test failure and the processor needs replaced.
Unfortunately, our laptop is out of warranty and Dell will charge me to have the processor replaced. My son has learning disabilities and requires this computer as it has programs that he needs for school that we don't have the disks for. I'm incredibly frustrated that Dell will not fix the processor without charge. After the very long and frustrating discussion with the Dell representative, we have decided that we will never purchase another Dell product. I will not be having the laptop fixed as I refuse to pay for repairs for an inferior product. If it was to be fixed and overheated again and damaged the processor, they will only provide a 90 day warranty for the replacement processor.
I will now have to purchase another laptop for my son and try and obtain the programs that he needs through the school board. However, all of his voice files are lost and he will have to spend hours retraining the new programs which will cause him much frustration.
I have a dell Inspiron 15 N5010 which is about 4 years old. It was working properly, but suddenly it went off and when i restarted it, there was nothing which appeared on screen, but  there was a beep sound which went on until i turned my laptop off. Even the startup screen didnt appeared during this. The power button lights up, fan is running, but the screen is not coming up.
I have noticed one thing also, if i put it on for long time, so that it gains enough heat due to constatnt running and then I restart it, the screen will come. and after sometime, the screen distorts and after few seconds, the laptop screen turns black and the beep sound appears which start crying until i turn laptop off.
I am working on my mom's Dell Inspiron n5010 Laptop. I have replaced motherboard, LCD and video/camera cable. Still getting 8 beeps until windows starts up. The video test worked fine on LCD.Flashed BIOS to A15, updated video drivers. Not sure what is still causing issue. I have also removed memory and replaced it. I am at my wits end.

My Inspiron N5010 is powering on however the display is off
Previously I was running a Windows diagnostic test; however the system froze and I had to power off manually & since then I haven't been able to restart
My laptop was working correctly and then I booted up one day, the bios worked fine but then the screen went black. I connected an external monitor to the lap-top and the laptop display works fine. As soon as I remove the external monitor, again, I get a black screen on my lap-top.
I have run the full system option of the Dell diagnostics and have 2 errors, battery and dvd flash rom. I have ordered a new battery. I have also noticed that my lap-top does appear to get quite hot.
I've discovered my display driver has stopped working and frequently crashes.
Can i get a download link and replace it for Inspiron 15R (N5010)
Monitor in black display but with the power turned ON. Also, I cant do anything for any backup solutions cause of the reason above stated.

I am working on a friend's laptop. Â Originally, the laptop had a bad power adapter. Â They heard a "popping" sound from what sounded like it came from the laptop itself. Â Laptop went dead. Â They bought a new power adapter but it won't even light up the LED's on the laptop itself. Â The new adapter definitely works. Â
Of course it's used for taxes, home business info, etc. Â So they ask me to look at it since I have 10+ years in IT and can do most PC repair stuff without batting an eye. Â Well, here I am. Â Laptop is not under warranty AND it's still being paid on as it was financed by Dell.
Here is what I did to troubleshoot:
1) Verified power adapter got power and works with another Dell laptop.
2) Verified laptop will not power on.
3) Removed bottom screws, plate, battery, etc.
4) Removed keyboard, screws, and top plate.
5) Found a lots of black markings on the motherboard, specifically at the circuitry near the battery port.
Determined it needed a motherboard and maybe other stuff but wasn't sure. Â Bought a new motherboard with a 90 day warranty from CHINA on eBay. Â Also bought a new keyboard since a key was missing and new fan since it was in rough shape.
The repair steps:
1) Removed old motherboard and took off heatsink and CPU.
2) Reseat CPU on new motherboard, added Arctic 5, Reinstalled heatsink.
3) Added new fan and buttoned everything up. Â Triple checked connections
4) THERE IS LIFE! Â Power supply now feeds power to the laptop as LED's are lit.
5) Power button is pressed, nothing on the video but the fan spins up and sounds healthy. Â No caps lock LED. Â Hooked up to a monitor DOES NOT WORK. Â No beeping, nothing. Â I figure maybe the CPU isn't working so I try reseating it.
6) Tear it all down again. Â Reseat CPU, new thermal paste, reinstall heatsink, button it back up. Â SAME THING. Â This time it's not fully reassembled. Â
I tried doing the D + Power Button to test the LCD. Â Looks like the screen does something, but it's dim and doesn't last long. Â I can't see if it tries to do anything in detail, but I notice a little bit of light omitted from the side. Â Tried discharging any static. Â
Normally, I would throw in another CPU or something, but I don't have spare parts for this laptop. Â How can I continue to troubleshoot this? Â Maybe a bad motherboard? Â
I have a dell Inspiron n5010 laptop and use it for personal works and photo editing as a photographer. when I watch a picture, in some specific zoom levels there are weird vertical and horizontal lines witch create many regular squares in the picture. it's not matter what software display it for me (it happens in every photo browsers I have and even in firefox) here you can see them (this picture is taken by Prntscr Button):

I have a 13 month old HP Pavillion DV2500 Laptop and suddenly it doesn’t display anything on the screen (stays black).
I have noticed that the hard drive light comes on when its powered up but it goes out shortly afterwards and doesn’t flicker whilst its powering up.
I also connected it to a externla monitor and it still doesn't work.
Do I need a replacememtn mobo? Is it possible to buy one?

One day, it stopped working and we gave it to this tech guy. He replaced the motherboard and battery(The laptop worked but was noticeably slower). The white lines still existed and the screen started jumping up and down. Changing the refresh rate worked temporarily. And then my mother gave it to the tech guy again. She got suspicious of him and asked him to return it. And he did but now, the laptop display won't boot and there's the 8 beeps. I connected the laptop to our properly working PC monitor to see if it was the laptop's display's fault. But, it still gives 8 beeps and the monitor shows a blank black screen.

Did all the diagnostic test...every pass. Still take 30 to bootup.
My dell laptop (M501R) suffered a Blue Screen and wouldn't reload windows. Eventually, I just re-installed windows (re-formatting the hard drive) but everything was running slowly after about a minute or two of running windows. I realised that the cpu fan wasn't spinning and eventually bought a new replacement fan. I changed the fan over but I still have the same problem.
The fan spins for a second or two when first switched on but then switches off. I updated the bios and as soon as the bios program began updating the bios, the fan kicked in at full speed until the bios was finished updating and then switched off again.
I've ran the Dell diagnostics program and the only faults picked up are related to the hard drive, something to do with SMART.
I have Inspiron 9300. Unfortunately, my geforce 6800 died and I bought as a replacement x300 which was installed by a laptop repair service (they fixed other thins too.
It was due to power surge). Everything works but when I boot up the computer or when the display is set to be turned off in the power settings in Windows instead of being actually turned off the display is on and is all white.
Also brightness regulation does not work via Fn +arrows keys and is set to maximum and the white color is so intense that I get a headache after a couple of hours staring at the screen.
When i turn on my computer, the CPU beeps 5 times and don't display.

I can hear the startup sounds and see the screen brighten up and then gets dim. When I hook it up to an external moniter it comes up. I have tested the memory, the inverter, I tried draining the battery and I even tried updating the graphics card and still nothing.

It was running fine until today when suddenly while I played game it started lagging, first I thought that probably I run too many app but I ran task manager and saw that my cpu is 100 % and led lamp for hdd is always on. View 5 Replies View RelatedInspiron N5010 does nothing when power button pressed, if power cord is attached then blue charging light goes out indicating that power unit has been overloaded and tripped out. If power lead is unplugged from laptop and mains supply, then plugged into mains again power is restored to adaptor and blue light on lead lights up again. Using Dell manual I have stripped laptop down to component parts. If mains adaptor is plugged into I/O board then charging light on lead remains lit. When motherboard ( including CPU ) is remounted onto I/O board, when mains adaptor is plugged in charging light goes out. Motherboard does not show any burnt area's or signs of damage to any component. Tried all versions of static discharge to laptop before stripping down without success. If the only solution is to replace Motherboard how can I order. The existing board includes 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD550v Graphics. The laptop is out of warranty.
