Dell Inspiron M5030 :: Laptop Will Not Boot Up / 7 Beeps And A Black Screen
Nov 25, 2013
My laptop will not boot up, just get the 7 beeps and a black screen. I have done research on this issue and it seems to be an ongoing problem with this laptop. If this is the case, this should be taken care of by Dell.
Dell Inspiron M5030 is fallen down,Front part of DVD dropped.attached it,turned on the laptop. no boot,2 short beeps, error
When I turn it on,I get this error in a black page:
Check Cable Connection!
PXE-MOF:Exiting Intel PXE ROM.
Reboot and Select proper Boot device or insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press any key
I turned it off and press f12 and changed the reboot default to Hard Drive, again 2 beeps and same black page with same errors.

I have a dell M5030 that has a black screen on start up. The screen is on but just black - I don't even get the Bios screen. I've tried taking the battery out and hold the power button for 2 minutes. After that I tried holding D and the power button but there was to change. I tried an external monitor which did not work either. There are no beeps. It if I leave the laptop switched on for a few mins I hear the windows start up tune.
My M 5030 is just 1.5 years old and left it on just the other night only to return too it with black screen and a sees of 7 beeps. Read thru posts but haven't had any luck in repairing....
My Dell Inspiron M5030 has suddenly come up with the dreaded black screen and 7 beep problem. Having looked at many sites on the internet it seems that this is a common problem with this particular model. I am aware that there are several unofficial and seemingly temporary 'fixes' to this error (involving removing the motherboard and placing it in the oven), but I am loathe to proceed down that particular road.
My question is:- Why has Dell not contacted owners of this model of Inspiron to advise that there is a problem and offer a fix to what is plainly an issue of poor manufacture? Searches on various sites shows that there are literally thousands of complaints similar to mine. This is not an isolated incident, and the solution seems to be contacting Dell Customer Services and being obstinate in refusing to pay for repair.
As other customers have had out of warranty repairs carried out free of charge, is this option available to everyone with a faulty Inspiron M5030?
my Dell M5030 decided this morning not to boot, but instead just beeps 7 times. The laptop is out of warranty, but looking at previous posts this is a known fault.
My wife was surfing the net and watching TV last night when her Inspiron M5030 got the blue screen of death. There have been no other errors or performance issues until now. When she tried to reboot, the laptop just gave 7 loud beeps over and over. Disconnected the power cord, removed battery, held start button down for 30 secs, tried to reboot, but got the same result.

After browsing this forum I've found a lot of people have had the 7 beeps on start up issue with the M5030.
My Dell Inspiron M501R will no longer boot up - its shows a black screen and repeatedly beeps 7 times. I understand this means the mother board has failed. The service tag is <ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy> - its waranty has recently expired.
Interestingly, if you google "Inspiron M501R" google suggests "Inspiron M501R 7 beeps". So I'm guessing this laptop has been designed to fail soon after the waranty expires.
I have written a letter to BBC Watchdog asking how long a laptop can be "expected" to last and whether this would be covered by the UK Sale of Goods Act.
My Inspiron M5030 laptop was working perfectly fine last night. It was plugged in all night, and I had done the usual hibernate/sleep mode before going to bed. When I tried to start it up this morning, the screen remained black. It made the startup fan noise but then that stopped. Then it gave seven quite loud beeps. If I don't turn it off, it continues to give the seven beeps separated by a short break.
Is Dell doing anything for the owners of the Dell laptop Inspiron M5030 that are out of warranty and have experienced the 7 beeps no screen. This problem is apparently not a random issue.
I fitted a new LCD panel to an Inspiron 3520. Upon boot, it showed the Dell logo, then went all white and then displayed a grid made up of RGB pixels across the screen. I checked the panel was connected properly and the tried to reboot but now the screen doesn't power up at all. The laptop also now plays 4 beeps while trying to boot. I've tried connecting an external monitor, but it also does not display anything an plays the 4 beeps.
I need to contact customer services regarding my daughter's Dell PC. It is three years old and out of warranty it is still in perfect condition otherwise as my 12 year old daughter has only used it for light use and it was working perfectly until the other day. Then it just wouldn't turn on and started beeping seven times. I have noted from this website and many others that there was a generic fault with the processor Inspiron M5030 so I was surprised that there has been no type of recall on the laptop.
My daughter is understandably upset as I cannot afford to buy a new laptop and when I bought the Dell I thought it was a good product and expected it to last considerably longer than it has. According to trading standards I am within my rights to go back to the manufacturer within in six years of purchase if the product should be expected to have a longer lifespan and is known to have a fault. However, I can't seem to send an email from this site.
I have a dell M5030. When I power it up I see the dell logo with F2/F12 options. I can get into both of those, after that screen disappears it goes to a black screen with a blinking cursor in the upper left hand corner. I have tried various "fixes" that i can find online, from powering it down hitting f12 to try and boot from hard drive, nothing seems to work. I have ran the diagnostics fully and no errors come up, but I can not seem to get it to do anything. F8 does not work for me to try to go to safe mode.
My laptop that I use for school started beeping today (7 times). I have been using it for a year and 3 months now (3 months out of warranty) and I don't know what to do.
The laptop is in perfect condition (no drops/spills/never had a virus)
Earlier today I pressed the "fn" key and quickly pressed all the "f1 through f12" buttons when i turned on the power and It worked but after about 40 minutes i put the computer to sleep the problem started again. The "fn" thing did not work anymore even after numerous times...
I purchased another Dell product in 2012 but use it so infrequently it's still relatively new in usage terms.
It worked just fine yesterday, but when I tried to turn it on today, I get 7 audio beeps and a black screen.
Using my desktop, I've searched on Dell and Google about the problem and it seems to be an overheating processor problem and also seems to be a well known defect that some people have gotten Dell to replace the motherboard even if the product is out of warranty.
can't get my laptop to boot up/start. No sounds. No beeps. No nothing. Power cord indicates it is working fine. Battery should be charged since I rarely operate it under the battery. Has been running fine, no problems, I paused a movie and since then it is completely dark and not operating. Really disappointing since it is my main computer that I use every day.
inspiron m5010 : out of no where i got the black screen and 7 beeps, ive read that its the processor. i am out of warranty and i need this computer alive!
I've had a problem with my LCD for a while now. For around six months the screen sometimes turns black unless it is at a particular degree to the keyboard. For example, at 90 degrees there is a good chance that the screen will flicker and will mostly be black. More than 90 usually works.
Couple days ago I turned my laptop off and before it shut down left the room. When I came back after 15 minutes I heard the beeping sound. I turned the laptop off immediately. After that, every time I turn on laptop, nothing happens apart from beeping. I tried 'D' and then turn on. Also f12. Nothing changes, screen stays black. I also removed battery and pressed on turn on in order to get rid of excess charge.
I have a problem turning on my dell n5010 laptop with win7/ubuntu dual boot , I was doing some blogging using ubuntu and I went to have lunch and left it on but when I got back I found my laptop dead with the black screen and not turning on again with only the power led always on then the hdd led for a few seconds but not hearing any beeps and not seeing anything on the screen.
I have followed some solutions posted before but none of them worked.
1 - I tried to remove battery , ac and press power button to drain static electricity then trying to boot with ac adapter only but it didn't work.
2 - I tried the LCD test and tried an external monitor but neither works.
3 - I tried removing the memory modules , cleaning and reinserting but no change.
3 - I tried Dell Diagnositic but the only difference was that I heard 7 repetitive beeps when on the mode but not seeing anything on the screen .
I have had this laptop for about two years and when I went to switch it on this morning I got the black screen and seven beeps which seems to be a recuuring fault with DEL laptops. What can I do?
I bought my laptop just under 2 years ago. Over the past few weeks, when I switch it on, it beeps 8 times and the screen is black. There is also no battery left (the light on the charger block comes on, but the charging light on the laptop does not).
About 2 weeks ago the laptop I purchased for my sister for her birthday completely died and we got the 7 dreaded beeps!
I've been researching why this laptop died so young and found this thread! I am a long time buyer of Dells and I am so upset that this laptop is barely 2 years old and already having such detrimental issues!!!
The laptop is out of warranty but a Dell laptop should not have such a major issue so young! 40 pages of the same issue?!?! Something needs to be done about these m5030s!!!
