Have had my Inspiron N5010 for 2 years and I now have the following error codes after running the diagnostic utility:
Error 0123 (2000-0123)Memory Integrity test failedError 0142 (2000-0142)Hard drive 0 : Status 79
I assume a new disk will be required.
Battery drained on my laptop. I did not notice that it was not charging. I purchased a new charger cord, but it would not charge. The laptop shut off and will not come back up. When I press the power button, the power button flashes on, three lights flash on front, you can hear either the hard drive or fan start up but then it all goes off. Do I need a new battery?

My laptop doesn't want to boot...the screen backlight comes on but nothing else happens. The light that I think means HDD access blinks but the fan doesn't come on it just doesn't do anything. What tips can I get from the pros?
View 11 Replies View RelatedInspiron N5010 does nothing when power button pressed, if power cord is attached then blue charging light goes out indicating that power unit has been overloaded and tripped out. If power lead is unplugged from laptop and mains supply, then plugged into mains again power is restored to adaptor and blue light on lead lights up again. Using Dell manual I have stripped laptop down to component parts. If mains adaptor is plugged into I/O board then charging light on lead remains lit. When motherboard ( including CPU ) is remounted onto I/O board, when mains adaptor is plugged in charging light goes out. Motherboard does not show any burnt area's or signs of damage to any component. Tried all versions of static discharge to laptop before stripping down without success. If the only solution is to replace Motherboard how can I order. The existing board includes 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD550v Graphics. The laptop is out of warranty.

When I decided to do some work on it, now the Power botton and Battery light is flashing white. Try the troubleshooting of removing the battery, power cord and hold the power botton down for 10 seconds, it's still flashing. Not sure what to do next.
View 1 Replies View Relatedmy Dell inspiron 15R N5010 crashed on me, I had no previous warning that this was going to happen, when it crashed I was just watching a movie and not using up much CPU power. The laptop had not over been over heated, I checked straight after it crashed. It now is completely unresponsive i've tried using different chargers, batteries and I have also checked the internal hardware and everything seems to be intact, I assume at the moment it is a motherboard malfunction.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI just bought a new battery (90 Whr) for my Dell Inspiron N5010 as the original one had reached the end of it's life. I put the new battery in, charged it fully, and when I turned my laptop on the window colors were changed to blue and when I go into the personalization screen it won't let me change back to the settings I had before. Also I used to be able to preview the windows I had open by hovering over the icon in the task bar now it just shows a blue bar with the page title and when I hover over it nothing happens. I hover over the right side of the task bar to show desktop and nothing happens. What I wan't to know is how come the battery changed all this and how do I get things back the way I had them?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Dell Inspiron 1764 laptop will not boot up after using windows 7 installation disc in repair mode, as it has to restart several times during set up, it would not restart after first phase of operation. It never got to finish operation. Now it is just coming up with a black screen saying,Windows boot manager Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change it might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1. insert windows installation disc and restart computer (which it will not let me do)
2. choose your language settings and then click next
3. click repair your computer
if you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance

After start up even pressing F8 before logo disappears numerous times it will not let me into that menu, so I cant access start up in safe mode or last known good configuration. No matter what I do it will not go past the above message on screen. I do have 1 year left on my warranty..Even pressing power button for 30 seconds with power disconnected, or pressing F8 button several times on start up doesn't go into menu at all....
can't get my laptop to boot up/start. No sounds. No beeps. No nothing. Power cord indicates it is working fine. Battery should be charged since I rarely operate it under the battery. Has been running fine, no problems, I paused a movie and since then it is completely dark and not operating. Really disappointing since it is my main computer that I use every day.

For a couple of months, the laptop refuses to boot when turning it on. Screens stays completely black, never reaches the Dell-logo. The power-LED burns normally, CPU lights up for a few seconds, then dies out. I hear the fans starting and I think the hard disk starts as well.
The speakers start making an intermittent beeping sound, short beep every +- 3 seconds.
At this point, I have to interrupt the proces, and restart. Occasionally, the computer does start normally (around 10-30 times trying). In the beginning, this took only a few times trying, but it's getting worse.
When the computer comes back from sleep, it doesn't have any problems, only when it's (re)started, or coming from hibernation (deep sleep).
I have a Refurbished Dell 1440 Inspiron, Windows 07. I got this notebook 3.5years back and I was using this laptop without any problem till now. But suddenly it appears like Bootmgr Corrupt , Cannot boot the laptop. I searched many forums and websites to find a solution for my Issue. I got to know that i have to use recovery cd to recover the boot files but i lost my CD long back, i tried to download from URL... but i couldn't find it.... Any better way to get my 1440 back to the working state.

F11 shows no recovery, diagnostic test shows no error. Tried F12, checked F2. I am not that tech savvy but can get around to any instructions giving to rectify my issue. I don't have a boot disk, never can with the laptop.
This noise sounds like a garbage truck backing up! No screen appears. Noise just continues 'til I turn off computer.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI own an Inspiron N4010 14R dell laptop. When I restarted my laptop yesterday, i couldn't boot into windows and windows logo was rotating forever. So I thought OS was curropted and tried to reinstall OS. But it also didn't work. I couldn't able to install OS. But I could able to delete a partition and refresh it.
Then I ran a diagnosis on my computer and it showed an error code 2000-0146. (saying HDD needs to be replaced)
I called Dell support center and asked them about the issue. They said my hdd nedds to be replaced. So I bought a new 2.5" SATA seagate hard drive and installed it in the system.
But even after that, the same problem exists. But this time Diagnostic doesn't show any error. My warranty period is void.
Yesterday i have received my new Laptop Inspiron N3542 with Ubuntu. I have installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and on OS installation completes, laptop reboots continiously on DELL logo.
Troubleshooting:
1. Performed a diagnostic test from BIOS under F12 - Passed all hardware test and no failure.
2. Tried with Windows home basic and Windows Professional 64 bit no luck.
3. In BIOS only option available is AHCI.
My laptop will not boot up, just get the 7 beeps and a black screen. I have done research on this issue and it seems to be an ongoing problem with this laptop. If this is the case, this should be taken care of by Dell.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Inspirion N5050 laptop. A few weeks ago, it started running slow and Adchoices ads appeared. I removed them. I ran a scan using AVG, which detected nothing. I shut down the laptop as a precaution. Now it will not load Windows. I press the power button, the dell logo appears, then I hear what I think is the hard drive click, then the screen goes dark for a second, then the logo and a click and so on and so on. I am able to get to the menus with f2 and f12, what to do next. Safe mode will not respond ( I cannot get into it).

After turning it on, the screen remains blank and I get 3 beeps every 5-10 seconds.
Unfortunately the laptop is a month out of warranty.
I tried to turn on my laptop today and during the computer booting up received a windows Error Recovery Screen . It said windows failed to start . a recent hardware or software change might be the cause and gives me two options. If i choose Launch start up repair i get a blank screen for hours and nothing happens . If i try to start windows normally nothing happens . I just used the computer the other day and it was working fine i didn't add any new hardware or software so i'm not sure whats going on . I am running The Dell Diagnostics using the F12 Diagnostics Testing Now

View 16 Replies View RelatedI fitted a new LCD panel to an Inspiron 3520. Upon boot, it showed the Dell logo, then went all white and then displayed a grid made up of RGB pixels across the screen. I checked the panel was connected properly and the tried to reboot but now the screen doesn't power up at all. The laptop also now plays 4 beeps while trying to boot. I've tried connecting an external monitor, but it also does not display anything an plays the 4 beeps.

My laptop model is Dell inspiron n5010 (2011) . It was running fine until today when suddenly while I played game it started lagging, first I thought that probably I run too many app but I ran task manager and saw that my cpu is 100 % and led lamp for hdd is always on. I restarted and saw that right after I click the button the led is on. I ran defrag disk twice.

When I push he start button it beeps 3 times, there will be a pause of maybe 10 seconds and will beep 3 times again. This cycle repeats. The screen just stays black.

I tried to run Diagnostics but it will not complete as laptop crashes within 30 seconds or so of logging in. As it crashes there is an audible click.
This happens both when the laptop is on AC Power and Battery, and in safe mode or starting normally.
