i have dell N5010 laptop.it shuts down automatically whenever i restart the windows.i can't even install any new operating system as it turns off automatically.i am sure that it is not due to heat. but after 20 minutes it becomes normal..my laptop configuration:

My dell Inspiron N4030 turns off automatically without any warning message and without system shut-down message after some random amount of time. Whenever I turn on the laptop it will work about 10 minutes and then turns off "boom!" and as I restart will work for 7-8 minutes and again turns off. If I keep on restarting it again and again without giving it rest then the working time keeps on decreasing...

Sometimes my cursor changes into a shape that's not in the list of possible mouse pointers and I can't print screen it, because it's not in the image when I search it..
It looks like this: 2small white triangles with a white line in between. Sometimes they point left and right, and my pc starts scrolling sideways, and sometimes they point up and down and it starts scrolling downwards.
I updated a lot of drivers and restarted my pc. I scanned for viruses, but nothing could be found.
It happens with or without a mouse inserted. It's really annoying, because surfing on the internet becomes frustrating.
O yeah, that pc doctor from the dell site did not find anything either.
It's a relatively new inspiron laptop (less than a year) and I have this problem since the beginning.
My daughter was using her laptop (19 months old Inspiron 15R N5010) a couple days ago when all of a sudden, all but the bottom of her screen went black, the bottom was all garbled. Then a weird shrieking noise came out of the laptop and everything powered off (it was on battery). So she plugs in the ac power cord, thinking her battery was dead. Computer started to power on, fans & hard-drive spinning, but no screen at all, all black. After a couple minutes, the same weird shrieking sound and everything off again, but that time, a burnt smell came out of the fan exhaust.
Now, with our without ac power, the only thing that "works" on the laptop is the power button LED, everything else is silent. No fan, no hard-drive, no dvd player spinning.It's out of warranty, unfortunately, and hse needs it for class. I've fixed laptop before, actually on 2 occasions I replaced motherboards on other brand laptops without any issues... but while looking at the inside of the N5010, there are 2 boards inside, the mother board, and the power/ac/wan board...
I am using Dell Inspiron n5010 recent days my laptop turn's off itself when it reaches 45% of battery ....

Basically, here's what happens:
1. I press the button to turn on my laptop
2. Everything seems to work fine
3. sometimes windows properly startsup and after 5-10min my laptop unexpectedly turns off???
4. today i tried to diagnose my laptop.. when i press F12 and strat diagnose after 2mins it turns of automatically ??
Inspiron N5010 does nothing when power button pressed, if power cord is attached then blue charging light goes out indicating that power unit has been overloaded and tripped out. If power lead is unplugged from laptop and mains supply, then plugged into mains again power is restored to adaptor and blue light on lead lights up again. Using Dell manual I have stripped laptop down to component parts. If mains adaptor is plugged into I/O board then charging light on lead remains lit. When motherboard ( including CPU ) is remounted onto I/O board, when mains adaptor is plugged in charging light goes out. Motherboard does not show any burnt area's or signs of damage to any component. Tried all versions of static discharge to laptop before stripping down without success. If the only solution is to replace Motherboard how can I order. The existing board includes 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD550v Graphics. The laptop is out of warranty.

I recently got a new battery for my Inspiron 15R, N5010, charged it but didn't use it for a while. When I decided to do some work on it, now the Power botton and Battery light is flashing white. Try the troubleshooting of removing the battery, power cord and hold the power botton down for 10 seconds, it's still flashing. Not sure what to do next.

The laptop had not over been over heated, I checked straight after it crashed. It now is completely unresponsive i've tried using different chargers, batteries and I have also checked the internal hardware and everything seems to be intact, I assume at the moment it is a motherboard malfunction.

I think it's overheating, but don't know how to adjust the fan speeds (if you can) and i took the back off and cleaned round the fan, so it's not blocked up. View 7 Replies View RelatedI just bought a new battery (90 Whr) for my Dell Inspiron N5010 as the original one had reached the end of it's life. I put the new battery in, charged it fully, and when I turned my laptop on the window colors were changed to blue and when I go into the personalization screen it won't let me change back to the settings I had before. Also I used to be able to preview the windows I had open by hovering over the icon in the task bar now it just shows a blue bar with the page title and when I hover over it nothing happens. I hover over the right side of the task bar to show desktop and nothing happens. What I wan't to know is how come the battery changed all this and how do I get things back the way I had them?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am currently using windows 8 as my OS. When I attempt to start my laptop the Dell logo flashes on the screen and the screen turns blank/black and sits there for a few min before displaying an empty bar and F12 Boot Options in the bottom right hand corner.
I have attempted to press F12 to try and load windows in safe mode but everything is frozen at this point.
Is there a way to determine if its a hardware issue or windows issue. When I searched for the issue I found some with a similar issue but the link provided for support was no longer valid
I have a DELL XPS L521X running Windows 10 technical preview.
I have been having an issue for a while that the computer automatically resumes from standby at seemingly random times. As of late, it is also staying on indefinitely (or until a low battery event at least), despite my settings in Power Options that specify standby after a given amount of time.
This happens when it is plugged in or not, and is (of course) particularly annoying when it is unplugged and in a case that isn't ventilated.
I have checked the system and application event logs, and don't see the kernel-power event when the system resumed, but I don't see any information on why it did so.
Also worth noting: I checked my LAN and WIFI adapter power management settings, and the "allow this device to wake the computer" box is greyed out.
specifically what hardware or software is causing a resume event? Do you know how to ensure that the computer sleeps after a specified period of time when on battery?
However, a problem appeared recently: the laptop seems to overheat and it shuts down automatically when the temperature rises a lot. I installed SpeedFan to check it and see whether it is abnormally high. Sometimes it reaches about 80-90 degrees on the 4 cores and the hard disk. Slightly before it started shutting down, the fan became very loud and it switches on and off continuously. So I don't know where the problem started.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have dell studio 1555 laptop with processor Intel core 2 duo t6600 and ram 3 gb with video memory ati radeon 4570(512 mb) running windows 8.1 x64.I uses my laptop to download movies so it runs almost 24 hrs a day recently when i got back from my work laptop was turned off (no power outage was occurred at that time) when i tried to turn on the laptop it starts to produce continuous beep sounds(and no display) after some trial and error i found out that charging adapter was the culprit if it is connected laptop won't turn on and continuous beeps sounds occurs , but if you start the laptop without the adapter and then connect the adapter back on then no problem.
And the event viewer has under the critical error section an error named Kernel power(event id 41)(The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.)

My laptop types automatically in the search or in a browser if it is open and in any application that it can type. It mostly types "asdf;lkj" like this. Again when I use a media player it automatically increase or decreases the volume to the max. and sometimes restart the player. It again sometimes automatically locks my computer.
TRIED THINGS:
1. I have already formated my laptop many times and also updated the BIOS as I thought it as a VIRUS problem. Also, I have tried different antivirus software but all in vain.
2. I have also dislodged my laptop keyboard and using an external keyboard; but this is also not working.
3. Prior to all these I have called DELL Service for support. But they also could not offer me a satisfactory answer.
I own a Dell studio 1555. When I first encountered the auto shut down problem, I ran the diagnostics and found my HDD is crashed. So I replaced with a new 1TB WD. My RAM is of 3GB. I have an HP 2000t-2d00 CTO Notebook PC, Model: D6Q45AV.While I shut down my laptop, the computer shuts down with the message saying Shutting Down as normal.However when the screen turns black, the power is still on (lights are still on) and the computer does not shut down.I have waited for it to automatically shut down for 15 minutes, but instead I held onto the power button to manually shut it down.Also, I cannot restart the computer nor put it on sleep mode.When I restart the computer, the restarting screen only appears and does not restart the computer.While trying to put the computer on sleep mode, the screen turns black, but still the power is still on.
Yesterday night when I shut down, I got the Shutting Down message, the screen turned black, and the computer shut down in 10 seconds (all lights are off) as it normally should. Is there a software update that would solve this issue?
I was using my laptop the other day and it froze up. Then it shut down by itself. When I tried booting it back up, it says "No bootable devices found" and gives me the options to press F1, F2 or F5 for retrying, setup utility and diagnostics. I ran the diagnostics and it says "All tests passed". The SSD also seems to be recognized as it shows it in the "configuration" tab in diagnostics. I have also tried taking the msata SSD from the 2.5" bay and moving it to the msata slot. Rebooted but shows the same thing. Is this a known issue and is there a fix for this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo last night my laptop was running fine on battery power, but then it was running low, so I plugged in the power cord. Nothing happened. Since the adapter at the laptop end was falling apart and duct-taped anyways, I figured it was just conking out, but then I saw the indicator light on the power brick was off.
With some experimentation, I found that if I moved it to a different outlet, the light would come back on, but if I plugged it into my laptop, the light would die, and I would have to again move it to a different outlet (the same one as first would work fine) to get the indicator light back on. It works in other Dell laptops. Other adapters do the exact same thing.
So I'm guessing there's a problem with my laptop wiring that's causing a short or something. (Apologies for my shallow electrical knowledge.) But it was working last night on battery power. Until the battery died completely this morning, it would power up. So it's not an electrical problem that kills the laptop.
I have a Dell E4310, about 2 years old. When I connect the charger just to a power socket the green light on the charger comes on but when I plug the other end into the laptop the green light on the charger goes off, I have taken the battery off the laptop and it still does the same thing, and in both cases the laptop will not power up and no light appears on it.
