My Dell XPS 1530 screen wont turn on. I push the power button it goes on then off, but I can hear the system starting but no picture. I have removed the battery unplugged everything and tried again to no avail. I have plugged in a separate monitor and still nothing.
My current problem is that when switching from the mobile power-saving GPU I lose the backlight on my screen when the high performance GPU kicks in. The HDMI output is displaying video when in High Performance, but the screen of the laptop will only show a picture with no backlight, and can only be seen by shining a light on the screen.Â
Just started happening the last few days, I've tried a system restore (didn't allow it), tried uninstalling all of the AMD drivers and software then reinstalling with their updated drivers, as well as the same process but with the HP drivers that came with the laptop, still the same result. Is it possible for the high performance GPU to be failing some how or is this a software issue?
When I connect my laptop to the TV using HDMI or RGB port, picture is not completely fit to the screen, task bar is hiding at bottom. I trying to change settings in Screen Resolution or Intel hd graphic properties, problem does not fixed,

My Aspire 5738 is hooked up with AOC brand 27" HDMI external monitor by HDMI cable. This monitor is without any speakers. I made this monitor PRIMARY to 15" Aspire 5738 screen.  When I play a DVD/CD using ROM drive NO SOUND comes out from built-in speakers of Aspire laptop. But picture runs on AOC monitor which is not useful. Aspire 5738 has TWO sound processors in device manager. One is Intel (Default) and other one ReaLTek, both are HD quality.
"How to configure (If Possible) any of the TWO sound processors to HDMI" OR any other practical solutions?

i have dell N5010 laptop.it shuts down automatically whenever i restart the windows.i can't even install any new operating system as it turns off automatically.i am sure that it is not due to heat. but after 20 minutes  it becomes normal..my laptop configuration:
I have a inspiron 1545 laptop, and every now and then randomly it turns itself off. I think it's overheating, but don't know how to adjust the fan speeds (if you can) and i took the back off and cleaned round the fan, so it's not blocked up. It might be something else causing it to turn off i'm not too sure.
So last night my laptop was running fine on battery power, but then it was running low, so I plugged in the power cord. Nothing happened. Since the adapter at the laptop end was falling apart and duct-taped anyways, I figured it was just conking out, but then I saw the indicator light on the power brick was off.
With some experimentation, I found that if I moved it to a different outlet, the light would come back on, but if I plugged it into my laptop, the light would die, and I would have to again move it to a different outlet (the same one as first would work fine) to get the indicator light back on. It works in other Dell laptops. Other adapters do the exact same thing.
So I'm guessing there's a problem with my laptop wiring that's causing a short or something. (Apologies for my shallow electrical knowledge.) But it was working last night on battery power. Until the battery died completely this morning, it would power up. So it's not an electrical problem that kills the laptop.
I have a Dell E4310, about 2 years old. When I connect the charger just to a power socket the green light on the charger comes on but when I plug the other end into the laptop the green light on the charger goes off, I have taken the battery off the laptop and it still does the same thing, and in both cases the laptop will not power up and no light appears on it.
I am currently using windows 8 as my OS. When I attempt to start my laptop the Dell logo flashes on the screen and the screen turns blank/black and sits there for a few min before displaying an empty bar and F12 Boot Options in the bottom right hand corner.
I have attempted to press F12 to try and load windows in safe mode but everything is frozen at this point.
Is there a way to determine if its a hardware issue or windows issue. When I searched for the issue I found some with a similar issue but the link provided for support was no longer valid
When powering my lappie on, I can hear the fans and the hard drive start, the lights come on but there is no backlight on the monitor. I did a hard boot but nothing. I tried to get into bios pressing ESCAPE or F10 after restart but same nothingness. If I can't get my lappie working, I would at least like to get data off it.
Today I was going through the online documentation of my Dell XPS 1530 laptop and found that there are various slots and mini cards in it ,some of which are lying unused .
Some good techie person please kindly answer my following queries :
1) SIM Card slot :What is this slot and how to use it ?Is this SIM slot included in all XPS 1530 laptops when delivered ?
2)Wireless Mini Cards :What is difference between WLAN,UWB and WWAN ?Which of these technology is present in India ? If none, then which of these technologies is likely to hit Indian market first ?Which of the above technologies is the best ?
What are some good laptop messenger bags/brand names for the Dell Xps 1530? My old targus backpack is a little too big to carry around my laptop comfortably for extended periods of time. It was built for a 17" laptop as well.
So I broke my laptop (xps l502x) while traveling. The hinges were broken so I couldn't open or close the lid. Dell has stopped supporting this model so I had to get my own parts and replace it.
After replacing, I realized that the screen turns on but is white and the motherboard beeps 8 times continually. I realized that was an issue with the lcd connector. I tried to fix the connection. Now the laptop turned on, booted. But I couldn't see anything on the screen. The screen was lit but displayed nothing, everything was black. Then I removed the lcd connector and put it back again. This time the laptop doesn't even turn on but fan turns on with a loud spinning sound and emits cold air continuously.
If my laptop turns on, it either freezes, BSODs, or black screens (could be anywhere from the windows loading logo to doing some work on word, etc.)
And if it doesnt turn on, well it does; the hdd light goes on (for a second), same with the battery light (the battery light is fine though), but the screen is black; i can hear hdd activity though and if i throw a cd in there, it spins properly and whatnot, but it just doesnt do anything past the blank screen.
An external monitor doesnt work, and reformatting seemed to have helped abit, but then it just got worse 2 days ago; I can't get past the black screen after I turn it on.
I'm 99% sure its a hardware problem, and I'd be willing to replace whatever it is if I knew what it was, but I dont know if it's the hdd, or the ram, or the video card, etc.
I've also taken the laptop apart; so reseating the ram and hdd doesnt work.
I have a HP ProBook 4530s, using Windows 7 64-bit OS, Intel Core i3-2310M CPU (2.10 GHz).My laptop is about 21 months old and I am facing some problems when puting my laptop into hibernate mode. Everything was fine for a long time - that is, when I put it in the hibernate mode it turned off and when I pressed the power on button it resumed. However, that isn't the case any longer. Now when I put it in the hibernate mode, it (usually) goes hibernating and after few seconds it turns back on (all by itself!). Sometimes it hibernates for 10 or 20 minutes (or even more) and then again, it turns back on all by itself! This problem just started occuring, I didn't install or update or do anything.
I've read other forums on similar issues, but I can't seem to find one that matches mine exactly. Â System:Â Y410p with 1tb hdd 24gb ssd intel i7-4700 8gb ram 64x windows 8.1 (came installed) Â Problem: When I put the computer into sleep mode, it goes into sleep mode without issue. It has stayed in sleep mode for a maximum of 8 hours, but usually before it hits this long the system will turn on. It seems to run random processes and overclock the processor as the computer gets very hot. It will do this until the battery dies, or if plugged in, indefinitely. Â While it is doing this I have opened the lid, pressed every key, including power, with no response. Once, and only once, upon pressing the space bar, it had actually come to the unlock screen as though it truly was in sleep (except it was still overheating and on). Otherwise my only option is hard shut down. Â I've just gone around it for a while now by shutting down every time and not using sleep. But today I had put it in sleep, and placed it in my backpack where it nearly cooked itself to death.I have tried:
-I have checked the wake_armed, which currently display NONE -I have checked last_wake -I have fiddled with hybrid shutdown.
I am having HP Pavilion DV6 6140Tx . Installed Windows 8 Enterprise Edition and updated drivers using drivers for Windows 7 64x from HP site  The problem is that, when i shutdown my laptop, it doesnt shutsdown, it turns off the screen, but not the processor, fan, touchpad, the light and fan movement is ON and it never shuts down. Then I have forcibly press n hold the Power button to shut it down !  It also has a delayed Startup issue! But Restart  function just works fine..!  I don't graphics drivers installed on the system - its AMD ATI RADEON 6700M HD - no compatible drivers available !
I'm using a Dell Latitude E6400 and I'm running the Wave Systems Embassy Security Software for my fingerprint reader.
The problem is that I would like to change the logon (welcome) picture in vista. I have now the Dell Wave default picture, which really sucks! Is there an option to change it, maybe through the registry?
I have a Vostro 1500,and the picture went out.I would have to order a part, and have someone install it,so I bought a ST2220 monitor.I have it hooked up and have a picture, but there is about an ince of black area at the top and the bottom, that the picture doesn't cover. How to make the whole screen covered.
I noticed that one of the best cooling pads here, the ACRyan cooling pad, ain't doing must good for this heat monster, so, I decided to DIY my own cooling device. Note that when I'm at home, I'm outputting my laptop to dual monitors, 20" and 27" Dell monitors, and connecting separate keyboard and mouse to it, speakers as well. AKA a desktop.
Materials: 1. 2 packets ice cream sticks 2. Good pair of scissors 3. White glue (hardens to clear) 4. 6V, 500mA USB Fan
Disclaimer: I'm not planning to type on the laptop while using this device. Due to the hot nature of this laptop, it's meant for cooling it while playing back 1080p movies, and games, while outputting to the monitors.
Part 1: I was eyeing this fan at my workplace, a retail store in Singapore... Wind output is amazing. Picture taken for size comparison to desktop.
Part 2: "engine" of the fan when taken apart
Part 3: Creating the base... I used stacks of squared ice cream stick cutouts for added stability.
Part 4: Checking the height clearance halfway through...
Part 5: Front view of Part 4...
Part 6: Almost done with height clearance...
Part 7: Placing "weights" to press down the glue to dry...
I've got an XPS M1210 with NVidia GeForce 7400 and since last week all the pictures or videos appear blurry with artifacts, … somehow like watercolor paints or with burn efect pictures.
Other observation: on the Windows locking blue screen (see below picture), instead the clear light blue on upper left corner, I can see something like a sun with round circles around effect .....
I turn on my laptop and there is no picture, the power light comes on, but no picture, it is black screen and then it is beeping continuously. This is all it will do. The battery started not keeping a charge for very long lately, but I am not sure this is what is causing the black screen and beeping. I have tried to remove it for a while and put it back in to no avail.
FW owners, post up your FW pictures and show everyone your set up. I noticed that there are no picture threads and lots of people would love to see user pictures and not just the googled pictures of the same looking FW just at different angles.
