I have a Dell E4310, about 2 years old. When I connect the charger just to a power socket the green light on the charger comes on but when I plug the other end into the laptop the green light on the charger goes off, I have taken the battery off the laptop and it still does the same thing, and in both cases the laptop will not power up and no light appears on it.

When the ac adapter on, no light on the dell. but on the adapter green light. Its ultrabook and i can not eject the battery.
A friend gave me his dv1000/ dv1515cl to fix, I believe it's the mobo but not sure .when I plug in ac adapter wont boot but light shows batt. charging .If I unplug ac, remove batt. then I reinstall batt. all tights come on but when I open laptop it shuts off.
View 3 Replies View RelatedOne of my users brought me this issue the other day. He is using a Latitude D830 laptop with a D/port docking station. With or without the laptop docked, The power button on the docking station flashes Orange and Green when powered. I've swapped power bricks for the dock. The laptop still seems to charge while being docked. After swapping the dock, the new dock is fine.
What might be causing it? Is the dock dead? Could it be a failed port on the docking station?
On mostly when my charge is 96% the charging light starts blinking red continuously , some thimes it does not charge the laptop too , but after some time it starts again.

Over the past few weeks, I've been having an unusual problem. Whenever I plug the AC adapter to my laptop, the whole laptop performance - from the second I switch it on - is very slow. The moment I pull the AC adapter from the laptop, it instantly operates at a normal and fast speed again!
I figured that it must have been a problem with the AC adapter (it's had its fair share of use - being swung around and dragged to lectures...). So I ordered another one off Ebay. Today, I got the new adapter and when I plugged it in, the laptop only went on AC power. It worked fine - fast as normal. However, it was not charging - just on AC power. I am starting to question if the adapter was really as "genuine" like it was advertised on eBay. But anyway... after about 4 hours with the new adapter on AC power, it stopped recognizing the battery altogether and alerted me with a Critical Battery sign. Of course, a few minutes later, it went dead on me - the laptop switched off. It was as if I removed the AC adapter myself, only I hadn't. Now, I am trying to plug it in again (the new one), to see if it will be able to power up again and it just won't respond at all.
On the other hand, when I put the old AC adapter, the laptop switches on but doesn't charge. Again, it is extremely slow with the adapter on, and fast when I pull the wire out. Only for a minute or so until it dies on me again...
So press power button, blue light come on for 1/2 sec, fan and hd spin etc and then the laptop turns off,
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo last night my laptop was running fine on battery power, but then it was running low, so I plugged in the power cord. Nothing happened. Since the adapter at the laptop end was falling apart and duct-taped anyways, I figured it was just conking out, but then I saw the indicator light on the power brick was off.
With some experimentation, I found that if I moved it to a different outlet, the light would come back on, but if I plugged it into my laptop, the light would die, and I would have to again move it to a different outlet (the same one as first would work fine) to get the indicator light back on. It works in other Dell laptops. Other adapters do the exact same thing.
So I'm guessing there's a problem with my laptop wiring that's causing a short or something. (Apologies for my shallow electrical knowledge.) But it was working last night on battery power. Until the battery died completely this morning, it would power up. So it's not an electrical problem that kills the laptop.
I just update my aspire 4745 BIOS version from 1.04 to 1.23. After that it making a big problem. If i plug in AC adapter it geting shut down. But if i turn on it without AC supply, it works perfectly. But if i try to turn on laptop after plagged AC supply, it not respons anything,

Even though I have configured the advanced power to turn off HDD after 20 minutes (10 minutes when on battery), it seems that the HDD does not turn off at all because it is being accessed by something! What is it? Do you have an E4310? Is it hot?

Both HDD and Wifi LED are steady blue and the middle battery one starts blinking ( battery is not installed ).
System, I/O and TAA boards have been replaced without success. what else could be wrong, ?
nb : tests have been done with everything unplugged except screen cable and connectors cable.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just purchased a Latitude E6430 to replace my aging Latitude D630. I like to keep a second AC adaptor in my laptop case just for travel. When talking with the telephone sales agent at Dell, she told me the two adaptors are not compatible, yet both are PA-12, 65W, 19.5v, 3.34A. the only difference, is the old one is 2-pin and the new one is 3-pin. Is she blowing smoke at me?
I also have an off-brand "universal" audo/air/AC adaptor for the old computer that's, 90W, 19v, 2.7A that was listed as compatible with the D630. Are these all compatible with each other?
The probleme is that when i plug the charger into the wall, there is a green light on the charger. As soon I plug the charger into the laptop, nothing is happening (+) plus its flicking off the light on the charger

The battery on it flashes 3 out of 5 lights but not in order. The two end lights and the middle light comes in. They flash in unison 3 times before turning off. Anyway I plugged in 2 different chargers to the computer and the battery light on the pc flashes 3 or 4 orange and then 1 green. Then it resumes the light cycle just mentioned. The computer gives ZERO response to this whatsoever. If I unplug the ac adapter, the computer turns on for four seconds. No hdd noise, no fans, just a green power light ONLY. Not sure how to fix this or what it is, but nobody in the forums or on youtube or google seem to have solutions or even the same issue. I have tried reseating both ram, unplugging the wifi chip, dvd drive, doing the 20 second power drain without battery hooked up. All the same responses, just nothing....
I have a Latitude E6510 that will not start. When pressing the power button, the power light goes on for about 5 seconds and then turns off. I also notice the battery light flashes a few times when re-connecting the AC adapter.
Removed the battery, held in the power button 30 seconds, but still not working.
We have had this laptop about 6 months. About a month ago, it exhibited this problem. After talking to Dell Support, they recommended a system board replacement. The laptop was sent in and the board was replaced. When I got it back and tried to start it for the first time, it did the same thing. I then pressed the Latitude "ON" button, and the laptop started.
Now it is doing the same thing, and I find it hard to believe that another system board is bad. I am suspicious about this "ON" feature, that maybe the laptop is "stuck" or something trying to get into the "ON" mode. Or maybe it is just trying to get into "ON" mode.
I am not sure what the "ON" feature does, but I have noticed a few other posts on the internet of users having the exact same problem. Again--I find it hard to believe a second system board could be bad.
I keep my laptop connected to external monitor and turned on 24/7 in the room where I sleep. But at night,
when the room is dark and I'm ready to sleep, I have the power button of the FW emitting this fairly bright green light and it bothers me

We were told it was a batch issue with the serial number R9-HNXXX and now all of those are changed into T420. But today we had the same problem with serial number R9-HXXXX that was bought two weeks earlier and with different config - I7 and SSD.
I have a dell inspiron 15r 5521 laptop. Yesterday when I tried to turn it on it won't boot, even the POST or the BIOS won't show up. I removed the battery and power supply and press down the power button for a long time and repeated it a lot of times too but no luck. I removed the HDD, RAMs and the CMOS battery and kept it that way for 5 mins and put them back in but it was still the same. I noticed that whenever I enter the ac adaptor into the laptop the fan moves for like 100millisecond and the light on the caps lock button lights up for the same amount of time then it all goes silent. Same happens when I press the power button with only the battery inserted.
All what happens when I try to turn it on is that the power indicator light on the laptop turns on(white color, which is the normal color for this laptop), and that's it. The light don't blink or anything at all. No beep sound. The fan, HDD everything remains silent. Only that light stays on until I unplug it from ac and remove the battery. Pressing down the power button doesn't turn it off either. No other indicator light such as the wifi's, hdd's, battery's light doesn't turn on.

The computer did get hot before this occurred. Tried getting new power cord because old one was not correct one. Tried booting up with and without battery & did not work. Screen never comes up.

When I insert the battery and the ac adapter the adapter turns off after a few seconds. If I unplug the ac adapter and do it again the same thing occurs. When I remove the battery and use the ac adapter after I unplug it from the wall the laptop will power up again. I don't know if the ac adapter is not strong enough to charge the battery and boot up. I tried just having the battery in and not turning on the laptop to see if the battery would charge and the ac adapter turns off after a few moments. Can a battery have a short in it to cause this or is the adapter finally going south? I tested the adapter and it shows 19.5v. when the adapter light goes off it tests 0. After I unplug it and replug it, it shows 19.5v again.I don't know where to go from here, new battery or new adapter.
