I connected with the power plug and there was no green/yellow light next to the power socket. It seems not charging at all. Now it is forever dead. Tried to take the battery pack off, and connect it directly power plug, still dead.
View 3 RepliesWe bought around 40 of these X220 I5 before xmas and now more than 20 of them have failed. The company we bought them from tried everything but they ended up switching the mainboard on the first two that failed.
We were told it was a batch issue with the serial number R9-HNXXX and now all of those are changed into T420. But today we had the same problem with serial number R9-HXXXX that was bought two weeks earlier and with different config - I7 and SSD.
Today i installed window-8 Pro (64 bit) in my thinkpad E430 machine, but after installation its not charging, its showing PLUGGED IN , NOT CHARGING , its not charging beyond 33%.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy laptop freezes for a couple of seconds randomly from time to time. The problem sounds like this one: [URL] .....But CC cleaner did not solve the issue.
The problem happens with almost every program such as microsoft word e.g. if I type and it freezes, the words will come out after it unfreeze.
Before the freeze, the laptop usually becomes very quiet then a few seconds later something spins and freezes the computer. I can assume that it is the HDD. However, the computer does not freeze every time the hard disk spins loudly.
When the disk spins loudly, the HDD activity spikes in task manager and the 'system' is the program that corresponds to the spike which is 'ntoskrnl'. However, the data transfer is no more that 0.1 MB/s during the spike.
I tried running in safe mode and I'm not very sure if it worked. The disk spins loudly much less often but the freeze did not seem to happen. Safe mode either tells me that it is a program/connecting to the internet/(maybe the system) that makes this freeze.
I tried a hard disk scan using lenovo solution centre and it found no problems. Also tried antivirus scan using windows defender and found nothing after a full scan.

HDD: 1TB (upgraded from 750GB)
RAM: 8GB (upgraded from 4GB)
intel Core i5 3210M @2.5GHz 2.5GHz

The 720p webcam in my new Edge E430 (I just got it last Thursday) is not working properly. When I use the Communications Utility or Skype, the green light next to the webcam turns on, but the image window only shows a completely black image. Also, when I increase the brightness or contrast settings of the webcam, the image becomes completely gray or completely white.
The Device Manager shows two devices - the "Integrated Camera" and the "Virtual Camera." I have already tried uninstalling/reinstalling the webcam drivers, but that hasn't worked. What else can I do?
I own one Lenovo E430. By now he is running Windows7, fully patched and updated. My issue is related with ultra-high touching sensitivity of the TouchPad. The TouchPad can react even on cloth touch.
This is problem for me, because I use TrackPoint, I don't have external keyboard and during high utilization extra unwanted clicks lead to unpredicted events. So, my question is how can I disable the Touchpoint.

I own a Thinkpad E430(type 3254). It's about 14 months old. Yesterday, it randomly started having an issue with it's keyboard. It acts like the enter key is continuously pressed, and about 1 sec after I hit any other key it stops. The enter key by itself has stopped working, and only shorts sometimes and results in a continuous press.
As soon as i boot, enter input is given and normal startup gets interrupted. If i press any key, it's normal again until an OS loads. For example, if i boot into debian, line breaks get inserted between the console messages that are displayed until i press a key, and if i boot windows, it gets stuck at the login screen because enter is given without the correct password so it loops. This behavior also happens sometimes randomly while working normally.
The keyboard hasn't even seen heavy usage, or any drink spills. I usually keep the laptop at my desk, and use an external keyboard. The last time I took it out was 2 weeks ago. I doubt it can be a software issue, so do I need a new keyboard?
I keep my laptop connected to external monitor and turned on 24/7 in the room where I sleep. But at night,
when the room is dark and I'm ready to sleep, I have the power button of the FW emitting this fairly bright green light and it bothers me

The battery on it flashes 3 out of 5 lights but not in order. The two end lights and the middle light comes in. They flash in unison 3 times before turning off. Anyway I plugged in 2 different chargers to the computer and the battery light on the pc flashes 3 or 4 orange and then 1 green. Then it resumes the light cycle just mentioned. The computer gives ZERO response to this whatsoever. If I unplug the ac adapter, the computer turns on for four seconds. No hdd noise, no fans, just a green power light ONLY. Not sure how to fix this or what it is, but nobody in the forums or on youtube or google seem to have solutions or even the same issue. I have tried reseating both ram, unplugging the wifi chip, dvd drive, doing the 20 second power drain without battery hooked up. All the same responses, just nothing....
One of my users brought me this issue the other day. He is using a Latitude D830 laptop with a D/port docking station. With or without the laptop docked, The power button on the docking station flashes Orange and Green when powered. I've swapped power bricks for the dock. The laptop still seems to charge while being docked. After swapping the dock, the new dock is fine.
What might be causing it? Is the dock dead? Could it be a failed port on the docking station?
I have an Acer Aspire 7740-6656 that shows no signs of life. I have tried removing and replacing the battery as well as trying different locations to plug into power. I have even tried removing battery and power supply and holding start buttom 30 seconds. Except for a green light on the power supply cord, still no signs of life. What if any are my options?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI bought a new ProBook 4530s less than 2 weeks ago. It is running Windows 7 64 bit. I was using it today on battery power when it shut down unexpectedly. Apparently the battery was low. I was listening to music and did not hear any low battery warning. Certainly, there was no popup message. I plugged in the charger and restarted the computer. Now I see an icon on the bottom right of the screen that apparently means No Battery is Detected.
The yellow light on the left side of the laptop next to the power cord is flashing. I did some research online and tried removing and replacing the battery several times. No change. Originally, I was unable to start the computer from the battery at all. Now I find that I have enough power that I can start from the battery, so it must be getting some power in spite of the icon. I have now restarted several times, plugged in and on battery. I always get the No Battery message and the flashing yellow light.
I have looked at Device Manager, and it says that the battery is fine.
I am having 15 R 5521 I plugged in my charger. But seems it was not working. There was no yellow indicator on charger. I ran the diagnostic run test. It showed me result as PASS all the test. On the same switch I plugged my mobile charger and the same was getting charged.

The probleme is that when i plug the charger into the wall, there is a green light on the charger. As soon I plug the charger into the laptop, nothing is happening (+) plus its flicking off the light on the charger
I tried several DELL charger and it did all the same senario.
My Lenovo E440 screen flickers when I plug or unplug the AC power charger. I think this happened after I installed all the drivers. This doesn't occuer when the windows was still 'fresh-installed'.
I read on other thread that this also happened on other machines and I think the cause is the same, the refresh rate change from 60Hz to 50Hz when I plug the AC power and then it goes back to 60Hz when I unplug the AC power. So I plug the AC power then change both refresh rate to 60Hz. It went fine when I unplug the charger, but when I plug the charger again the refresh rate for while plugged in change to 50Hz again no matter how I try (so it flickers again when I plug the charger again).
Also, I am using Windows 8.1 Enterprise Evaluation and I've installed the latest Windows Updates, Lenovo System Updates, and Nvidia driver update.
My question is:
1. Is this software error or what? If it is software error then shouldn't this occur on all user?
2. What is the difference between the display refresh rate? Which one should I use (I though higher refresh rate is better)? Why does the refresh rate change when I plug/unplug the charger? If I remember correctly AC power source is 50Hz, does it related to this problem?
I bought a dell inspiron 14z 5423 a two month ago, today morning I press the power button and nothing! no reaction no sound!
When the ac adapter on, no light on the dell. but on the adapter green light. Its ultrabook and i can not eject the battery.
So my battery from my Thinkpad e420s Laptop was broken and I ordered a new one and exchange it. But now when I go to the Power Manager it says Battery Error and I cant charge it. And when I take out the power plug it shuts down immediately. What can I do?

I bought 2 of these in oct 2011 for my twins going to college. My daughters has had no problems. The other one died in may 2012 and was repaired under warranty. It died again in November 2012. I was able to get it running by removing the battery and disconnecting the cmos battery and letting it sit for a while.
It happened again, and this time I can't revive it. I want to add that I think there was something wrong when we got it back from repair. The battery icon for the Lenovo power management did not work, but the windows one did. In hindsight I think this had something to do with nvram problem I have since heard so much about.
I have a Latitude E6510 that will not start. When pressing the power button, the power light goes on for about 5 seconds and then turns off. I also notice the battery light flashes a few times when re-connecting the AC adapter.
Removed the battery, held in the power button 30 seconds, but still not working.
We have had this laptop about 6 months. About a month ago, it exhibited this problem. After talking to Dell Support, they recommended a system board replacement. The laptop was sent in and the board was replaced. When I got it back and tried to start it for the first time, it did the same thing. I then pressed the Latitude "ON" button, and the laptop started.
Now it is doing the same thing, and I find it hard to believe that another system board is bad. I am suspicious about this "ON" feature, that maybe the laptop is "stuck" or something trying to get into the "ON" mode. Or maybe it is just trying to get into "ON" mode.
I am not sure what the "ON" feature does, but I have noticed a few other posts on the internet of users having the exact same problem. Again--I find it hard to believe a second system board could be bad.
My mute button is Orange & i can't get it to go back to green or blue when i touch it I get no sound at all On the bottom right corner where it shows the volume when i touch the mute botton it shows mute then on but orange mute button dont change back to blue or green in color so volume will work

When I connect the charger just to a power socket the green light on the charger comes on but when I plug the other end into the laptop the green light on the charger goes off, I have taken the battery off the laptop and it still does the same thing, and in both cases the laptop will not power up and no light appears on it.
