I have an Acer Aspire 7740-6656 that shows no signs of life. I have tried removing and replacing the battery as well as trying different locations to plug into power. I have even tried removing battery and power supply and holding start buttom 30 seconds. Except for a green light on the power supply cord, still no signs of life. What if any are my options?
View 3 RepliesMy problem is that when you turn on the laptop. My monitor shows no signs nor there is activity on the hard disk. I tried to remove the ram,hdd,bios battery,connect it to a tv with hdmi and still no sign of life.
I think it may be corrupt bios. Steps?
My Dell Inspiron 15 will not boot up. Started randomly shutting down over a week period. Would also display a plaid screen which would require a hard shut down by me. I was trying to run Dell diagnostics on it and noted that the video card failed, but it could not complete the diagnostic without shutting down. Now the power supply light blinks on and off in a 10 second interval. It acts like it has no power, but I know the battery was charged.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo last night my laptop was running fine on battery power, but then it was running low, so I plugged in the power cord. Nothing happened. Since the adapter at the laptop end was falling apart and duct-taped anyways, I figured it was just conking out, but then I saw the indicator light on the power brick was off.
With some experimentation, I found that if I moved it to a different outlet, the light would come back on, but if I plugged it into my laptop, the light would die, and I would have to again move it to a different outlet (the same one as first would work fine) to get the indicator light back on. It works in other Dell laptops. Other adapters do the exact same thing.
So I'm guessing there's a problem with my laptop wiring that's causing a short or something. (Apologies for my shallow electrical knowledge.) But it was working last night on battery power. Until the battery died completely this morning, it would power up. So it's not an electrical problem that kills the laptop.
I have screen flickering problem with my Acer Aspire 725 with windows 8 OS. Flickering stops when i remove the power supply. I could see the battery plugged and unplugged symbol in Windows 8 continuously. Whether i should replace my battery or power supply adaptor?

The battery on it flashes 3 out of 5 lights but not in order. The two end lights and the middle light comes in. They flash in unison 3 times before turning off. Anyway I plugged in 2 different chargers to the computer and the battery light on the pc flashes 3 or 4 orange and then 1 green. Then it resumes the light cycle just mentioned. The computer gives ZERO response to this whatsoever. If I unplug the ac adapter, the computer turns on for four seconds. No hdd noise, no fans, just a green power light ONLY. Not sure how to fix this or what it is, but nobody in the forums or on youtube or google seem to have solutions or even the same issue. I have tried reseating both ram, unplugging the wifi chip, dvd drive, doing the 20 second power drain without battery hooked up. All the same responses, just nothing....
I connected with the power plug and there was no green/yellow light next to the power socket. It seems not charging at all. Now it is forever dead. Tried to take the battery pack off, and connect it directly power plug, still dead.

We were told it was a batch issue with the serial number R9-HNXXX and now all of those are changed into T420. But today we had the same problem with serial number R9-HXXXX that was bought two weeks earlier and with different config - I7 and SSD.
One of my users brought me this issue the other day. He is using a Latitude D830 laptop with a D/port docking station. With or without the laptop docked, The power button on the docking station flashes Orange and Green when powered. I've swapped power bricks for the dock. The laptop still seems to charge while being docked. After swapping the dock, the new dock is fine.
What might be causing it? Is the dock dead? Could it be a failed port on the docking station?
I have a Acer Asipre 774-6656 WIndows 8.1 64 bit notebook. The audio output jack on left side does not work.
I have done the troubleshooting in windows for sound problem - no luck.
I don't see a realtek sound card listed in device manager and I believe it is in the original specs for this notebook.
I get sound from the notebook speakers.
Have gone to control panel sounds and tried all the available adn even have disabled and disconnected devises noted to show.
I have tried a couple of speakers in the output jack tha twork on other notebooks - not the external speaker.
My battery has not held more than about a 45-second charge since 2009; however, the AC adaptor seems to work fine, and the Power Management icon always tells me that I have a full (i.e., about 45-second) charge and that the AC adaptor is plugged in. Today, just after I disabled the Acer Tour Reminder, CyberLink PlayMovie, and Microsoft Office OneNote (because I never use them and I wanted a faster startup), I moved some program icons that I didn't need or that were already on my Quick Launch tool bar into the Recycle Bin. Suddenly, the notebook make sort of an electronic squeaking sound and immediately shut down--black screen; no lights.
I unplugged it, checked to ensure the battery was properly seated, felt to make sure it did not feel hot anywhere, plugged it in, saw that the lights were showing on the adaptor and on the front left edge of the notebook, turned it on, and selected normal start; it started up again. It ran for at least three minutes (which, because of the battery, it would not unless the AC adaptor was functioning) and then, after I moved a few more icons to the Recycle Bin, it suddenly shut down again in the same manner.
I started it again and it has now been running long enough for me to look up my Acer Forum registration information and update it after resetting my password. I am writing this on another notebook. The Acer is still running, but I want to ensure it doesn't shut down on me when I am in the middle of a project.
my acer aspire 9300 switched off on me tonight, the power button lights up and i can feel air from the side heat exhaust, but nothing eles,and the same thing happens just on battery without the power lead plugged in.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to fix my fathers laptop so he won't have to spend money on a new one. Here's the problem:
When I press the power button to boot the laptop it does not boot, it just flashes the power light(s) on and off at maybe 1 flash per second. I've tried removing the RAM-sticks one and one, removing the HDD, removing the battery and removing the DVD reader (not all at the same time, of course). None of those helped, it still did the same thing.
Then I tried to blind flash the bios from a CD, the laptop comes on with the fan at full blast, the DVD reader comes on and it stays on, but it never finishes and powers off.
Our Acer Aspire One 725-0845 will not charge. It is plugged in with the power cord, but the charging light does not blink and the amount of power left in the battery is dropping. I'm thinking it is:
1. a faulty power cord (Model R33030) or
2. a faulty battery
But do not know how to determine for sure, or if there may be a different issue. I have tried plugging into different wall sockets and playing around with the plug attachment to the computer, to no avail.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have an Acer Aspire V3 551 8469. It is out of warranty. The indicator power light blinks 4 to 5 times and nothing happens after. I got adventurous and opened it up. I replaces the cord that receives the power coupling from the ac. Still not working. I was told it could be the motherboard but there is no guarantee that is the issue. If it is the mother board I will just have to get one and put it in.

View 2 Replies View RelatedTravelmate 4010. I've had it for about 3 years now, and over the past *thinks* 6 months or so the power cord had been replaced twice because it broke. But it wasn't really the cord itself that broke the first time. Something inside the jack is broken and now the cord (a new one) has to be positioned just the right way so it doesn't switch to battery mode. I use it mostly on my bed, which probably doesn't help, but at one point I had to have it on a desk with the cord taped to the lid so it wouldn't move and kill the battery (which doesn't last that long). I couldn't even close the lid so I just had the monitor shut off after a minute. but I did get a new cord and started using it on my bed, storing it underneath when I'm not using it. After a while, though, the cord started to do the same thing and now I'm sitting here trying not to move on the bed too much so it doesn't disconnect. I'd like to get a new notebook, but I can't afford it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI had exactly the same problem with my Acer Aspire 5552G with win7, I tried all things that was online e.g. New battery, Flashing bios, Fn + esc without battery when trying to start the computer and so on.
It started now and then and worked perfect but when I shut it down again it could take me up to 50 tries to get it started.
The problem was issues with the boot sector on the hard drive!
Finally I made an Win7 repair disc and started from.
I also checked for errors on the hard drive and it repaired some sectors before starting windows.
After that it works like when it was new. The computer was bought January 2011.
I had my notebook evaluated by a local technician who told me the trouble I was experiencing was due to the DVD disc not recognizing and communicating with the computer. Upon further investigation she determined that the drive did read and play audio just fine. Video and graphics (pictures) would not play on the drive. Her conclusion was that the drive had a defect of some sort related to the DVD function only.
I have two questions.
1. Could it be that the ROM is corrupt and can that be replaced?
2. IF I have to replace the drive can I do that myself or do I have to have a professional do it??

I have an Acer Aspire 7740-5691. The boot screen freezes with pixel distortion at the top. I've tried all the restore discs. I found where some people referenced a similar problem with other computers and they were fixed by resetting the bios. I can't figure out how to do that. There's no place for that in the boot settings option and there's no visible coin battery to temporarily remove to reset.
