View 5 RepliesMy laptop is just over a year old, and out of the warranty. I'm particularly upset about this.
My battery, which was working just fine yesterday is now giving me a "plugged in," not charging message. The lights on the front of the computer (Dell Inspiron 14z, 2012 model) is flashing orange 3x then white.
My mom has the same laptop as me and hers is working fine. Her adapter (which works for her) would not charge my battery. Her battery worked in my laptop but would not charge. Using her battery, I updated the BIOS since I couldn't previously as it was less than 10%.
I own a Dell Inspiron 15R 5520 Laptop that Won't start up . Even when the charger is connected.
I came to know its Static charge build up, but all procedures fails. My charger is working properly when not connected to laptop,the led indication lights up, but when i plug-in the charger to the Laptop, LED indication in the charger goes off. And the Laptop won't even start up.
I have a Dell Inspiron 15 (N5040) and currently having problems with it. I was watching something this morning and suddenly the screen turned green and then shut off. It turns on but the screen refuses to. I first expected that the screen is just unplugged inside the computer so I tried to hook it up to my TV via Hdmi and oddly it didn't do anything.I took it all apart disconnecting everything and then reconnecting everything. Everything seemed to be in good shape. No signs of shorts. Then after letting it run I noticed it beep 4 times. According to Dell 4 beeps mean "Read/Write error." I don't know if they meant the ram or hdd so I tried isolating both sticks of ram and no difference. I tried putting in two different hdds, nothing different. Even if they were I don't know why the screen wouldn't turn on and the bios wouldn't try to load. I suspect that the gpu is just fried. Dell Inspiron 15 (N5040), Intel i3, 8 gb of ram. Windows 7.

I tried several DELL charger and it did all the same senario.
I recently upgraded the CPU in my Acer Aspire 3050-1150 to a Turion XL-56. The first bootup was a breeze, and Windows Vista Home Basic recognized the new chip no problem. Temps ended up being cooler than before the upgrade.
Later that day, comp just shut down. I tried to reboot...comp started but shut off a second or two into loading windows. Next boot attempt the on/off switch wouldn't work at all...appeared dead. I waited a few minutes, took out the AC adapter and windows booted. Next time at bootup, similar pattern, but wouldnt boot even with the AC adapter taken out. This time it booted with the battery out and AC in.
Similar pattern at every bootup...false starts, shuts down at various points, but then eventually boots up after several attempts. I have just been leaving it on, in sleep mode when not in use. I am very afraid of doing a windows update which requires a reboot, so I haven't been doing that.
I have a studio 14z that has been sitting for approximately 5 - 6 months without being connected to a power adapter or turned on. Needless to say, when I tried to power it up via the battery, there was nothing there. Pushing the button on the bottom of the battery does not cause any lights to flash.
This doesn't surprise me, but even if I plug it into it's AC adapter and take the battery out, it will not power on. Nothing happens. No lights (except on the power adapter) no fans spinning, nothing. If I have the battery in place, the light that is supposed to indicate that the battery is charging does not turn on. Basically it is "dead". It worked fine before sitting dormant.
Is it a lost cause? I just had it apart to check cabling, etc. and can't see anything obvious. Is there anyway to wake it up? I know the power adapter works as it powered another laptop just fine.
I have a Dell E4310, about 2 years old. When I connect the charger just to a power socket the green light on the charger comes on but when I plug the other end into the laptop the green light on the charger goes off, I have taken the battery off the laptop and it still does the same thing, and in both cases the laptop will not power up and no light appears on it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhenever I plug in the charger the screen blinks black for a second, but goes back to normal afterward, and lags the computer for a few seconds (i figured that because my music or videos skips on WMP). The same thing happens when I unplug the charger. I didn't used to have this problem, it started happening when I reinstalled windows xp pro or updated to service package 2. But the previous times when I reinstalled windows, it never gave me this problem. The first time my brother reinstalled Windows he had this problem, and recently just reinstalled windows and he doesn't have this problem. Also, we have the same exact laptop and we used the same Windows XP Pro. disc.I don't know how to bring up all my information, I'm guessing its called BIOS, but I have a Dell Latitude D531, it has AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-56, 1gb of RAM, using SP2, using an OEM battery and charger(I highly doubt the battery and charger are the problem, but I thought I should mention that).
View 1 Replies View RelatedOne of my users brought me this issue the other day. He is using a Latitude D830 laptop with a D/port docking station. With or without the laptop docked, The power button on the docking station flashes Orange and Green when powered. I've swapped power bricks for the dock. The laptop still seems to charge while being docked. After swapping the dock, the new dock is fine.
What might be causing it? Is the dock dead? Could it be a failed port on the docking station?
I've been trying to set-up a second hand T520 bought without the original hard drive. I've installed a Samsung mSATA SSD. I tried to use a set of recovery discs produced on my T510 which seemed to install but got BSOD whenever Win 7 tried to boot. I then downloaded the Win 7 ISO and booted from the DVD to try and initialise a repair which would not initialise. I next tried installing Win 7 Pro from the Win7 ISO disc which succeeded but ran into problems with unrecognised network components and drivers.
I've gone through this whole cycle again and got to the set-up screen for Win 7 then got distracted; my thinkpad then appeared to have gone into hibernation before I could finish set-up. Unfortunately, when I try to power up I get a few flashing lights for a few seconds; no POST bleep and the power dies. I've tried pulling and reinstalling the RAM and SSD but to no avail.
My friend's laptop isn't charging no matter what she tries doing..It doesn't charge when it's on or off, she tried the charger on a friend's laptop and it works..So wat's the problem?
View 9 Replies View Relatedan Inspiron 1150 that had problems with the AC adapter (or so we thought) so he went out and bought a working motherboard brand new. I put it all back together and it wont boot.
The fans turn on for a few seconds and the hard drive clicks but i get nothing. m pretty sure it cant be anything with the motherboard since its brand new. I also tried reseating the ram, removing the ram completely, reseating the CPU, unplugging the touchpad, using an external monitor but all i get is nothing.
My Inspiron 1150 was in normal use last week. Next day I switched it on and it came up with the start screen, Dell, Inspiron 1150, the bar at the bottom screen fills with white as usual and in the top right of the screen it shows F2 setup and F12 boot menu.
Entering either of these does nothing and the whole thing goes round in an endless loop hence the title of the thread.
I have checked as far as I dare inside, checking the memory firmly inserted, battery is fine and the HDD looks OK though I don't have the gadget to check it like the old ones with 2 lines of pins.
Someone said it might be the CMOS battery but since the on-line manual doesn't show where it is, I can't replace it (even if that is the possible cause).
What models would allow me to swap my hard drive from my old inspiron 1150 to it?

its like a bunch of green pixels just start appearing all over the screen and wont go away until i either close the laptop or restart. After I do that it will go away for a couple weeks and then it will happen again.
I've been trying to just ignore it and keep thinking it will go away but idk. Has anyone else had this problem and what could it be?
I have a HP G26 notebook pc, it has windows 7 on it and when I turn it on it only get to the windows start up screen with the little flashing logo and won't boot any further.. I have tried system repair, my back up disks.....

When its on, verything goes fine, it battery icon says its at 98%avaliable (plugged in, not charging). As soon as cord is out, it dies completely no power even when start button pushed.

Upgraded from 65W to 90W adaptor with no change in error. Swapped known good battery that had 55% power left and it would not re-charge. Put "suspect" battery that had 0% charged into another machine and it is now charging. My laptop will work on cord power and will work on battery as long as I charge it elsewhere. I suspect that something is wrong with the laptop power interface and it is not allowing the power to transfer to the battery charging function. Is this a software issue (I thought the BIOS upgrade might fix this) or a hardware failure. If it is a hardware failure, can I fix it?

Along the left side of the screen bubbles start coming up then the screen starts flashing sometime its whatever web sight I was on or email or looking a my documents.
It started when the machine wasn;t ever 6 mo. old. I doesn't do it every day. But yesterday it did it every time I turned it on.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm unable to boot my Inspiron 15R SE laptop. There are no response from the laptop when I pressed the power button. No LED lights, no disk noise ! The only thing I noticed is the power cable light goes out immediately when plugged into the laptop.
I have tried taking the battery and power cable out , hold the power button for 30 seconds , place battery and power cable back then tried rebooting but laptop still won't boot...

Inspirion 6000 running WinXp (yeah I know but it's what I got). It was in regular use until about a year or two ago then stored. Brought it back out for a project and when I went to plug in a wired mouse that I used to use with it, it wouldn't recognize it. I figured there was an issue with the mouse so got a new plug and play wireless mouse/keyboard and when I plug the dongle in, it says " 2.4G Keyboard Mouse" but can't install it. I've flashed the bios and nothing.

Yet then I noticed an empty slot in the motherboard & wondered what its for?
Does anyone have a picture of the motherboard explaining what the slots are for?
I'm sorta hoping it might be an empty memory slot that will allow me to add more.
